Now you need to dry brush some of the details to make it really pop. Start with a very dry brush and silver on the landing gear and door mechanism and the ramp itself. Then a light grey on the dark grey of the ends. Also do all the dark grey with additional dry brushes of red and blue. Very, very light. Trust me you will be very happy. Using the same light grey as you used on the ends do a very light dry brush on the white body from top to bottom. Very light. Do very little (colour not area, do the entire area) at a time. Walk away from it overnight and see how you like it in the morning. When you think it needs another two or three dry brushes stop then. Give it a week and clear coat it.
You might have more success with the prints if you orientate them about 45 degrees to the build plate, so there are no flat surfaces parallel to plate, will cause less failed prints and also less warping! Amazing video, i really wish i had your skills with 3d modelling!
Hi! For the feet... Did you join all the tiny parts with booleans? Asking because I'm also making a model (TIE advanced from star wars) for 3d printing and I spend a looot of time trying to fix the topology after a boolean and maybe it's not necessary
I'm very torn on the design for this ship. I feel like the scale and size of it is ruined by the fact that it looks (in my opinion) like a futuristic PC case, or some type of designer bluetooth speaker or consumer electronics. I do think it looks cool, I'm just not sure if it makes sense, not that it has to since it's sci-fi. But when I saw it in the movie I didn't really go "wow that is a huge ship" but almost felt like it was a miniature model in a miniature world. Just looks out of place because the design makes so little sense to me. The big ship they use to travel between worlds in space however, that makes sense to me even though it looks quite simplistic. I think the design is cool, just doesn't convey the idea of a huge weird space ship. And I am not talking about the spherical shape here. I think they could've taken the design elements from this but thought more about what's inside of it and how it moves etc.
