@@paulheydarian1281 Tiniest little pin joints of some of the best grass ever........LOL Most of the people working there were brilliant young progressive jews from New York..........really great people ahead of their time.
@@ampavoo Did they accomplish anything of significance and lasting value? I've always wondered about the hippy movement of the baby boomers.🤔 I knew a few folks who volunteered in Arcosanti, back about twenty years ago. They told me that it had an exploitative, cult-like atmosphere, which is why they left after a few months.
I lived and worked there for about 5 years. This video pretty much nailed it. Often peopel criticize may things about the place...and those criticisms are mostly valid, but this video highlights the vibe of what makes it worth living there. I lived on the east crecent and my patio opened out onto the amphitheater, and yep,we would climb the vaults and watch the sunest everyday.
I am considering applying for work there, but their website doesn't say much about the employee co-housing. Do you have roommates, or do you have your own space? The video showed people with pets, does that mean employees can bring pets? I have three cats. Also, what are some of the criticisms you feel are valid?
@@kevincrady2831 It depends. There are small individual spaces, multi bed room apartments, and full sized studio apartments. All housing is assigned on a senirotiy basis. So when a space opens those with seniority get the first pick. Personally, I firsdt lived in a cube in camp, which is where most people start. Then I moved to a 3 bedroom apartment in East Housing, and loved it. The primary ciriticism is that since Paolo's passing the upper management has been in complete dissaray, and so the working/living situation can be very, very frustrating and uncertain for many, however many just enjoy living at Arco despite those problems.
@@kevincrady2831 In short, Arcosanti is far, far from perfect and it does not work out for everyone, however if you are interested I definitely recommend trying it out, and just keeping what I said in mind.
It's all in the details, even got to see Christine 3 times, don"t know what took so long but I just signed on your crew list . Chrissy will be a little delayed but still coming, she will have a can of OLD BAY for you. Video was very informative, enjoyed all the behind the scene look.
Hahaha you know it - Christine was in some of the shots! Thank you so much for all of your support, and we're looking forward to trying out some of those Old Bay ❤️
I did my workshop back in 1996. Stayed for a couple extra months. Returned for an additional six months in 1998. Not a day goes by I don't think of the place. Like any other adventure, it's not quite as advertised, but an incredible experience, nonetheless.
I did Seminar Week in the summer of 1995. Didn't do the workshop, because I was slated to do a monthlong roadtrip with my best friend, that we'd been planning for years. Loved my time there. I even stayed overnight April 2012 - it was interesting to see what changed, and what was still the same.
It sounds like your workshop experience had a lasting impact on you! Adventures often come with surprises, but those unique experiences are what make them truly unforgettable. It's amazing how certain places can stay in our thoughts even years later. If you ever decide to share more about your experiences, I'd love to hear more. Cheers to the memories that continue to inspire! 🌟🌍
@@theRTWguysYou guys ever play stickball in the vaults? Setup a haybale on one of the benches for a strike zone. The mid-panels are a double, the upper panels are a triple, and homers through the windows... I never see any shots of "Camp" in present day Arco vids. Is it there still there? The collection of cubes for workshoppers to live at the bottom of the hill? Man, if those cubes could talk... Hard work, and good times. I helped build the west side of the East Crescent. I did the cabinets and wood floors in the upper apartment I believe next to the one ya'll went into. Sunsets... never disappoint. Tamayaki used to do a monthly "Music on the Mesa", with a huge PA system setup to play whatever album he chose. I remember one month he played Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon, and as the sun set in west to the typical yet no less impressive color array, the full moon rose in the east, as big as I've ever seen. Just a beautiful moment embedded in my memory. I could keep going on. I should return for a visit after all these years.
...I Remember my first Arco lesson. Sunsets are best from the Vaults, not from the desert mesas... Now days people carry phones with flashlights.. .but not in my day. First week there, we hiked out to watch the sunset, not thinking about how it's going to be dark after the sunset and we have to hike back... Many bruises and cactus needles later, lesson learned.
Okay that was gross they all picked up veggies with there hands that is gross haha love your videos home you guys can come to NB soon love to see yous here :)
Beautiful work on video.
Lived and worked here in the early 70s. great experience
It's truly an interesting community ❤️

Never heard about this city before. The city looks like a city in a movie! And it’s cool to have Yoga exercise in there.
Absolutely - Arcosanti is a very cool place for sure 😀

I lived in Scottsdale in the late 70's. A few of my teachers worked at Arcosanti during their summers. Odd to see the Bells of Capitalism at work ;-)

I've found some Roman Roasted Peacock recipes online. Apparently, eating peahens (the females) was quite popular 2,000 yrs ago.😋🍗
