I mean Hayden makes sense logically as he also just never had that form during life of being as old as he was but also not disfigured. His actual form if it reflected his age would have been pale disfigured and missing 3 limbs. I’m pretty sure Shaw was also too old and didn’t reflect the age correctly anyways.
As someone who grew up on the original version, first time I saw the DVD re-release with Hayden..... I loved it! It was great seeing a character that we had been watching throughout the prequels turn from light to dark... seeing how tragic his character was to see him there fully redeemed, it was beautiful! Even seeing him in Ahsoka as a force ghost was fantastic as well. I still love both versions.
I always assumed that force ghosts can control what they look like, and Anakin decided to make himself look like as he did before he burned on Mustafar. Obi-Wan and Yoda didn't know this.
I like both Shaw and Christensen, I was not very offended when they changed Shaw to Hayden in ROTJ ending but I wouldn't want the footage of Shaw to be lost, for many years before the prequels he had been the exclusive face of Anakin. Honestly, if Disney released both Hayden version of ROTJ and Shaw version of ROTJ (ROTJ versions before 2004) on BluRay or on streaming, they would make a lot of money, people would watch both versions.

I like Sebastian Shaw as a Force ghost really because it makes some sense because he died Older not younger I thought and Sebastian Shaw did a good job playing Older Ghost Anakin In Episode yes I agree.. but I also like Hayden Christensen as the force ghost because it makes a lot more sense because that’s where he left off before he became Darth Vader and before he was burned! Indeed. Shaw was great for the scene where Luke takes off Vader's mask, but he never made sense as the Force Ghost of a man who died in his mid-40s. Which was in direct contradiction with what had been clearly established in the movies: Anakin was still very young when he became Vader ("a *young* pupil of mine..."), and it happened not long before the twins were born, which is why Obi-Wan and Yoda had to hide the babies in haste for fear the Emperor would find out that Anakin had offsprings. Seeing as Luke and Leia are canonically 23 in ROTJ, if we do the math there's no way Anakin could have been older than 45-50 tops when he died.
He was 47 in the original timeline (before 2012 change in canon), but yeah, Shaw was a *tad* 😅 older looking than what Vader's age at ROTJ turned out to be.
Well, Sebastian’s would be more accurate because Vader turned back from the Dark Side to the good, and therefore he was again truly Anakin. The worst edition of all is still adding a moving head and squeaking sound to Sarlacc given that the creature digested its pray over a 1000 years, which means it would have an extremely slow metabolism and it would not have much physical energy for movement. I like the original Return of the Jedi version better, it’s the only one in my view that got ruined with the retouches.
I definitely feel that would have a lot more of a mixed reaction, considering Alec Guinness had a prominent role as Ben Kenobi in the OT, not only that but that wouldn't line up in canon with him having a young appearance as a force ghost
Yoda and Obi-Wan never turned evil, so there's really no reason why they should revert to a younger self that was never corrupted by the dark side in the first place...

Why do I remember darth Vader in the full suit when I first saw it. Mandela affect maybe or happy Gilmore when the gator pops up at the end with chubs is getting me confused

Of course young Anakin is more appealing and iconic. Also more pleasant to see rather than burns n scars. They might do it to avoid graphic contents. Idk. It just doesn't make sense.

In the original cut it was clear that was Anakin because the communication was there. Throwing in Hayden makes it even confusing. Lastly, any bodily harm wouldn’t appear in ghost form and that’s shown through obi wan’s form because he would probably appear like he was cut in half.

It also wouldn’t make sense for his Hayden form to have the injuries because it’s his form before he turned to the dark side and before he was severely injured.

I bet when Anakin appeared to Leia as a Force Ghost in the Legends novel Truce at Bakura. Readers back in 1993 imagined Shaw in his place.
