Barrichello talks about all of these things plus more in this latest edition of F1 Beyond The Grid, supported by Bose.

The most likeable Person that F1 ever have had
uhhhh don't think so
Him and Hakkinen.
we don't see enough of them to really make a proper opinion of them. I used to think Montoya was a dick, but in recent interviews he actually seems fun and easy to be around. Though I think Juan would have to ask Juanself if they met Juan today and ask Juan question about Juan Pablo Picasso again with a camera in his face on the pit straight, would he have a better humor about it.
@@Kelkschiz beat me to it. Hakkinen was actually a great person. Even used to go around to every driver before the race on the grid and shake their hand wishing them well.
Sloppy Toons l lollll lol lol l
Rubinho at Donington 93:
"Omg, it's Ayrton behind me and I'm leading the race"

For him to be fighting Damon Hill and Prost in the dominant Williams was ridiculous and showed how talented he is. Barrichellos third race in F1 with a back marker Jordan car to be challenging for podium against them.
Perhaps the most genuine, likeable and popular man in F1 history.
Him and Button fersure most likable lads in the paddock, only fitting they became teammates.
Unfortunatly most of the brazillians doesn't see him this way
after supporting fascist Bolsonaro it's kinda hard to like him as a person
@@97guimaraes i think you should know what is fascism before saying this. Because he is reducing the power of sindicate over workers, letting people defend themselves even against bandits and the own governament due the flexibility to have guns, trying to privatize a lot of state companies, dont chasing any minority, opening the market and the borders to the tourists.
Fascism is exatly the opposite, all powers to state, removing the individual concept for one more collective, sindicate owning the workers rights preventing themselves of making their own contracts.
I am not fan of him, buy fascism is out of question.
Gabriel .G FASCISTA É MINHA ROLA, ZÉ RUELA!
"There was no time to say goodbye to Senna"... That phrase is just incredible.
Very true as well when he says that we don't celebrate people whilst they're still alive; we wait for them to get sick or die.
Sad this ain't a podcast with video footage - would love to see Rubens' smile again.
Watch on UA-cam acelerados . Brazilian top gear
Chocolate Button yep. Check legends of f1 series if you want the whole package.
@Chocolate Button They're just talking.Talking is not a "visual sport". And check who the sponsor is, Bose. Last time I checked they specialized on AUDIO equipment.
@Chocolate Button I'm willing to bet you prolly think books are stupid too... And haven't the ability to really determine the difference between what is stupid and what is not... That takes intelligence. Sorry dude... Your life must suck without shiny things that sparkle in it. Sad day
@Chocolate Button Its a Bose sponsored podcast. Bose doesnt want you to have visual memories just audio instead.
He may not have won the championship but he was the first to beat the Stig.

That overtake on Juan Pablo at Suzuka 2001 says everything...
Mr Rubens Barichello ladies and gentlemen, live long racer...
And then Montoya retaking him straight away on the next corner? But it was an insanely good move by Rubens at the chicane.
He is a good dude. I see him and his son all the time at my local gokart track. He is real racer who still has a real passion for racing. Always says hi to my son and I. My son runs gokarts and looks up to him.
Wow, God bless your son mate. I wish him the best for him to become a successful racing driver one day!
@@mariz9084 Thank you Matt and God bless you also
Good luck for your son! I hope he'll be a great driver

Lucky you . I'm so jealous
Barrichello: a true F1 legend.
Absolutely
He was a really really amazing driver, very underrated, but you can't say he is a legend. At least you'll have to be a world champion (or maybe get real closer) to get this "badge". You can't say every great driver is a legend, because the word loses its value.

The most consistent f1 driver
Verxtraa seriously? Most consistent? A little bit exaggerated i think. There were drivers in F1 who were much more consistent than Rubens...
Michaela Stockbauer who tho?

The reason why I started watching motorsports back in 2009. I celebrated his pole at Interlagos harder than I did for Brazil winning the 2002 FIFA World Cup.
I honestly don't care if he was mainly known as a wingman for Michael Schumacher or if he lacked that "extra" to win a WDC. His humble origins combined with his commonly known kindness and down-to-earthness automatically makes him my favorite driver of all time.
Yea considering his kindness and his person im not sure who is the true champ between him and schummi but michael is a good guy too, maybe lacking that brasilian warmth
Até que enfim!! Rubens Barrichello do Brasil.

Yes, but don't forget he is a millonare father...not just a father
Wow , A Pure Gentleman, Honest and Sincere, All the best Rubens , Excellent Interview Tom.
I met Rubens once here in my town. I was so nervous that I just stay still in his side for a picture. 2003 or 2004 in Blumenau.
I mean staying still is kinda the point of taking a picture 😆
@@the1streich339 so.... I nailed it xD
This is honestly one of the most enjoyable podcasts! So humble and nice guy!!
Man he's so humble
I remember when he came on Top Gear
He was humble then and still humble now
Except for the T-shirt: "I beat "The Stig"
Thanks for the words in Portuguese my country mate. Rubens is an example of professional, father and driver.
I don't know him in person, (but I'd love to), however it's like I did. Because he's so friendly and true on his words. 'Go Acelerados'! 'Bora Acelerados'!
Hope someone read this commentary to have a sense of Ayrton death here in Brazil. The next day (may 2nd 1994) I went to college and I got the subway and you could hear a drop in it because it was so silent, I remember that clearly. And people keep looking at each other like everybody knows what happened and couldn’t believe it, no one could say a word. It was for sure the period I most experienced so many people together without someone telling a word (for about 40 minutes).
Rubens is such a nice down to earth guy, he has earned a lot of respect.
What a champ!! Such Grace even after going through so much along side Michael. Hope Eduardo goes on to become a world champion
As an MSC die-hard and also JB fan, so glad to hear from Rubens...superb driver and even better chap :)
Great to hear from Rubens on this podcast! I am new to F1, but he seems like such a cool person. I’m glad he mentioned the S5000 event recently, it’s great to see he is still taking on new challenges.
Proud of having Rubinho as one of the greatest Brazilian drivers ever. His history, achievements and enthusiasm surpasses any F1 championship. He’s Brazil at its best!
Rubens Rubens Rubens Barrichello do Brasil!
Finally, you catch up Rubinho for a nice chat. A lot of history in just one driver. He deserves more respect! One of the #F1 champs without a title. Obrigado Rubinho! Valeu muito! =')
What a great man. I'm really glad I listened to this one!!
Rubens Barrichello: The Gentle Giant.
Rubens is a class act, through and through.
I watched Rubens in the S5000 race on the youtube highlights.....WOW what a great category the have in Australia.
I'm Brazilian, and I only have a huge "THANK YOU" to Rubens, watching him with my father, the wonders he did on F1, only made me fall in love with the sport, a true legend!
Rubens, tu é o Cara
The fact that he can't remember the weekend in Imola and the funeral, shows a lot about Rubens, when humans go through traumatic experiences, our brain tries to forget it, it surely was very hard for Rubens, so hard that his brain deleted it from his memory.
Imperador Do Brasil Dom Pedro II, O Magnânimo Bolsonaro is a traumatic experience
Alas, A beyond the Grid with Rubinho! Seeing his passion for racing has inspired me to find my passion :)
Honest warm intelligent man great interview.
Barrichello é um monstro, que honra ver ele participando do podcast!!
Along with Massa both are good guys and I wish I could see both in F1 again
46:50 explaining what made him cry in Hockenheim 2000
Been looking forward to this one and after hearing his stories, I am not disappointed! Such an extensive career and such a likeable character as well.
i miss rubens probably 1 of the most underated f1 drivers there has ever been

GREAT RUBENS ! Coolest guy ever !!!
The man who helped Schumacher win the championships
What did he do what was bringing Michael the championship?!
Carsten Wack Japan 2003 would be a good example. If Rubens didn’t win that race, Michael would’ve lost the title to Räikkönen

Wrong!
Even if Kimi would have won that Race, michael would have been Champion.
He needed position 8 and he was on position 8
Carsten Wack Oop youre right

Nothing against Rubens, but let us stay with the truth.
Of course, Austria was not right for the sport but it did not affect the championship.
Rubens could never beat Michael for an entire season.
Michael did not need Rubens to win a championship.
I've always wanted him to win the tiitle one time and always had my fingers crossed for the guy during his races.
Such a great driver and wholesome person!
This is an amazing podcast, sad it has so few views compared to others.
I always had a lot of respect for Rubens, sad that he lived in the shadow of Schumacher for so long during his ferrari years, but he seems like such a great guy, and was a great driver in his own right. Really enjoyed listening to this.

@@tegar_hidayatullah True, sadly like 7 minutes combined, tho.
That owner/driver pairing between Stewart and Barrichello is criminally underrated because that is what helped shape Barrichello into the driver he has become. He had a chance to win some races in 1999, if he won that French Grand Prix instead of Frentzen that would've been the ultimate career making day for Barrichello and the Stewart team.
Awesome interview, refreshingly honest, all those Brazilians calling him a fascist , get a job

What a great interview. Really fantastic. One of the best that I listen here. And I listen almost all of the episodes. But one is missing, and I thought he was here in the place of Rubens, in the GP from Brasil. - Misses the Great Nelson Piquet. This podcast MUST interview him. He's one of the Great Drivers. Thipodcast is incomplete until Nelson's Interview. Best Regards.
Nobody's missing the old moaner..
@@azwris moaner?.. Just don't speak ill of others to grow yours .... He (Nelson) is one of the greats, and nobody could take it away from him...
@@antoniojmnogueira Of course he was a moaner whenever he was slower. He was also a poser in the '80s and very jealous of Ayrton because the latter stole all the glory from him. He is still crying on the TV whenever he finds the chance!
@@azwris What you said, just proves you don't know nothing about Nelson. Jealous because of the golry ???? Piquet didn't race for glory! He raced because he liked, and was very good on what he was doing. And one of the best, by the way. You can keep on "moaning" and "posing" any time !!!! I believe you should like the stories he have to tell, if you're not a "hater" of any driver. My favourite is Nelson Piquet, but of corse I can't forget al the other great drivers, like Lauda, Senna, Prost, Vettel, Schumacker, Rubens, Lewis, etc, etc, etc. Just because Ayrton and Prost was rivals from Piquet, I cannot say bad things about them, because they sometimes win against "my driver". They were great, too.
You probably don't know, but the "war" between Piquet and the basilian media, began when he was in the english formula 2, or something, and he won races, and the brasilian media gave more attention for the brasilian that finishes second , or third, or whatever, than to him.
In Brasil the news were: Our driver "name" finished in third, and so on. Oh by the way, the other brasilian driver, Nelson Piquet won the race. !!!!! Do you think this is fair? Do you call a moaner and a poser to someone in this position?
@@antoniojmnogueira Sorry chap but I can't forget some facts of the past. i just can't because as I said they are...facts! Don't let me dig into the past now. And never forget that this is Rubens interviewed here, not Piquet..
If you guys who aren't Brazilian knows how GENTLEMAN and GOOD PERSON Rubens are...
I’m Brazilian and as much I would have loved to see Rubens become a world champion, I am sorry, but never in a million years would he have had any chance to win a championship against Schumi. Even when he was twice a championship runner-up, he didn’t come close to being a threat to Michael. And when he had his golden opportunity at Brawn in 2009, with equal cars, he blew it against Button. Like many others who reach F1, Rubens was a solid driver, but not championship material.
Montoya: How long did you race F1
Barrichello: 19 Years

Rubens Barrichello - The Gentleman of Formula One.
poha que moral "that was the best decision we ever made!" ross brawn
Rubens had a second car, second-team crew, second pit strategy, and still, with all that, Ferrari ordering to let Schumi pass races after races.
This is not Botas x Hamilton, Leclerc x Vettel. That was a very different era of F1. An era that team politics with F1 management killed F1 for 20 years. I'm not anti-schumi, he was better for sure. But Rubens was the only schumi's second pilot that could chance places with him and will the world championship.
On youtube you can watch him winning, poles and podiums with Benneton, Williams, Mc Laren, against Ferrari.
He even could revolt and ruin a lot of Shumi's races against the Ferrari's abuses, but he was professional and humble enough not to do it. Schumi would never do this, despite other world champions looking more like Barrichello.
Obrigado por tudo RUBENS!!!!!!!!!
