Arakyd Helix yacht/fighter/freighter. Nothing faster that's not involved in a relativistic incident. Basically the SWU Bugatti Vairon... (The MGLT listing has to be a typo, as it was marketed as faster than the Awing or TIE Interceptor with a sublight speed above both in the RPG.) Fun fact: the MGLT rating is directly correlated to the RPG "Sublight Speed" Value given in ship STATS, just shift a Decimal place and tweak the 1/10ths place to add variation. TIE Interceptor Sub Spd = 11 (D20) 11d (WEG D6), MGLT =110 Awing sub Spd = 12 (D20) /12d (WEG D6), MGLT = 120.
Since you brought up RPG and WEG d6 with each class of ship or grade of star fighter or cargo ship Speed Units. From WEG to WotC 3e to 4e Saga Edition Star Wars and other side books, the average flight speed from a planets orbit to nearest moon is 30minutes. The moon from earth is basic a light second away. So Star Wars ships move at 2light seconds per hour with imperial t/e interceptors travel at 8ls/hr. Just for the T/E fighter to break orbit it has to go 12km/8mi per sec for 3minutes to get to space. Along with a navigation deflector to push aside space dust which would impact with around 2.7x the force of the A10 warthog cannon bullet fire from head on conclusions. Then you have orbital space dust clouds on side impacts that you want to avoid. Flak moving at around 24km/sec can be a wreaker. Yeah we were a bunch of nerds that like word math problems. Some Roll play, others role play and then you had us. As for that clip from Mandolarian, " Did him just Jump ?" Size of the given planet, I could say the boosters just went x3 to 4 planet diameter per second, say 27,000km to 32,000km per second. I love the humor of the scene but the star fighters inertia dampener ?

For #18 : it’s the TIE/Ln - “Line”, named for being the main line starfighter for the Imperial Navy. It definitely looks like an “i” when written out as TIE/ln.
Some of the background from the sequel trilogy made feel like I was 13 playing Star Wars force unleashed again, so darn good. If only they hadn't mucked up the plotlines so badly
In fairness to the Alliance's Y-wings, they were stolen from scrapyards, and given that they were decommissioned, that also meant that replacement parts for them were also being pulled and scrapped. The Alliance had to scronge what they could and jury-rig when they could not scrounge in order to keep them functional. While it is theoretically possible to adapt parts or components of parts in some cases, there is no guarantee that this would maintain specs, let alone improve them, even more so over if trying to apply across a whole fleet of them. So yeah, I am not surprised that the Republic Y-wing was faster.
That doesn't make sense? The lore for Gold Squadrons A4s has it that the engine are so turbo charged that they have the same speed capabilities as all the T65 X-Wings. Also Gold 2 moded the maneuverability capabilities of his A4 to be equal to a T-65
@@lancer737 Where did I say that it doesn't make sense? Care to point that out? And Gold Squadron proves my point. It proves that maintenance and even upgrades for the Alliance's Y-wings were possible while simultaneously proving that Gold Squadron was one of the few examples of this, which meant that it could NOT be said for most Y-wing squadrons. Also, even Gold Squadron had the same difficulty with the supply chains for their Y-wings' parts, quite possibly even more difficulty for the more unique parts they obtained for their upgrades. So again, where did I say that it doesn't make sense?
@@DavidRichardson153 you made it sound like the BTL-B variation is faster when the A4 is more of a heavy fighter, which tend to be faster than most craft, just not maneuverable "usually" We have seen Gold Squadron and other A4 Squadron keep up with even TIE Interceptors, so I wouldn't assume A4s are slow and sluggish, minus what Rogue Squadron had, in comparison to the BTL-B and BTL-S3.
Regarding the N-1 Naboo Starfighter; Mando-Dad outran New Republic era X-Wings (Probably still T-65B's) easily with his broken-down, rebuilt, piece of junk N-1 above Tatooine. Modified, even, with a non-aerodynamic bubble top for Grogurt (I know, space has no atmosphere for friction, so aerodynamics has zero factor in space) Edit: Just watched to the end of the video, yeah, Mando-Dad's N-1 WAS heavily modified... okay.
0:40 I would like to assume a mega light is 1 millionth of a light year 9.46 million kilometers (which can be rounded up to 9.5 M KM) and is about 5.84 million miles which can be rounded to 5.8 million
In Star Wars, one megalight per hour (MGLT) is approximately 1/1,000,000 of a lightyear, or 1,097 kilometers per hour (km/h). This is equal to 640 miles per hour (mph).
You're not sure how far a megalight is but you're going to use it anyway. I guess that works for 'this is faster than that' or something. But some people might have their own personal favorite ships that they want to compare and megalights being undesignated leaves them at a loss. Perhaps you could give you're arbitrary distance of a megalight for reference?
So you're telling me that if a Resurgent-class Star Destroyer saw a squad of ships coming at it they could just high-tail it out of there and people couldn't do anything about it?
I feel like the Y-Wings' numbers are wrong. One of the main reasons for removing the plating on Rebellion Y-Wings was to increase their speed and maneuverability, so the clone wars model should not be faster. Maintenance was another issue, but I seriously doubt the Rebellion or the manufacturer would have made changes that slowed the ship down.
most of these could use a rework. with the size of the Y-wing's engines relative to it's hull it should be one of the faster starfighters, except for the brainbug of Bomber=slow. there is also no good reason that the Lamda would not only be slower than the bigger, heavier, Sentinel, but slower than the ISD itself.
@GoranXII No, many of the individual ships may have been older by the Battle of Yavin may have been older, but the design definitely wasn't. Y-Wings were first introduced during the Clone wars. The Clone Wars Y-Wing that this video mentioned at 100mgl was the first model. The later Y-Wings would have either been a later version (which should have been improved) or Clone Wars models stripped down by the Rebellion to reduce their weight and increase their speed and maneuverability. As such, the Rebellion Y-Wings should have at least been the same speed as the Clone Wars Y-Wings, if not faster after their modifications. You may be able to excuse slow speed on an individual ship, but not the entire line. Going further, the post-Galactic Civil War model, in particular, should have been at least as fast or faster than both of the prior two models. It doesn't make sense for that model, which was completely "new" to be slower than the Clone wars model when it is based on newer tech and doesn't include all of the heavy armor of that model.
@@chrishakala528 It's clearly stated in the video that the Ships the rebels had were BTL-A4s, while the Clone Wars ones were BTL-Bs, so clearly a later design. Or maybe the -Bs were souped-up 'money-no-object' units, but too high-maintenance for the Rebellion. As for the Rebellion-era stuff, it was mostly years old, and almost certainly had to make do with whatever parts could be procured, rather than whatever parts gave the best performance. And in the New Republic era, it's possible the budget wasn't available to procure craft with better performance. Or maybe the thought was that, without the Empire, the anti-capital-ship bombers wouldn't need much improvement.
@GoranXII No, the BTL-B was the original model. In the Clone Wars TV series, they are first used in the attack on the Malevolence, and it is strongly implied, if not outright stated, that this is either the first ever use of Y-Wings in combat, or one of the very first times it was used. Sources such as Wookiepedia also clearly state that the BTL-B Y-Wing starfighter was the very first model of the craft. I think you are misinterpreting the designation. The Y-Wing models are not designated in lexigraphical order. The BTL-A4 isn't older than the BTL-B just because it has an "A" in it. Likewise, the "S" in the BTL-S3 doesn't denote when it was manufactured compared to the others. The BTLA4 and BTL-S3 are both newer models than the BTL-B. All of this still misses the point that the brand new latest model, the BTA-NR2", shouldn't be inferior to the Clone Wars model either. My guess is that the BTL-B's speed is exaggerated in one or more source books without a proper comparison to the other ships.
Nah fuck the sequels shit especially the first order ones ,they are just blacker copies with no explanations or reasoning , A wing is still the fastest , literally first order is more powerful and advanced without any explanation or logical reason , it's like 'Because I'm batman! " But not making sense in FO case
One thing this comparison overlooks is quickness versus speed. Sure the older Y-wings had a higher top speed, but how quickly could they reach it? Probably similar issues with other ships, like Arc 170, sure it had a similar top speed to an X-Wing, but I imagine the X-Wing accelerated faster.
Star Wars being Star Wars. There's some grease monkey that dumpster dove in a places like Jakku or Exegol and cobbled together a one of a kind insanely fast ship.
Since when does the TIE Defender not go 144 MGLT as it's normal cruise? With all energy directed to engines it could do a staggering 180 MGLT! This is why The Empire built the Missile Boat, in case one of the TIE Defender Pilots went rogue, the missile boat could hunt it down and destroy it. @Obiwan7100 gave the correct stats for it too.
The A-9 Vigilance as well (there's supposedly a follow on A-10, but no info is ever given that I know of in Legends)...but it's probably place pretty high in this particular list
I like the YT freighters, but i always thought the Falcon was overrated. Lando and han made a lot of modifications to the ship, but stuff was always breaking on it as a result.
You really should play the old throwback TIE Fighter game, the stats of Disnoid's version of the TIE Defender is a weaksauce wannabe of the original TIE Defender concept from that game. That's not the only example that Disney ruined with their retcons, the Millennium Falcon, the TIE Avenger, even the Y-Wing all had much faster MGLT ratings in the original canon. If it ain't broke, stop trying to fix it.
I had always thought if ships used their shields in atmosphere, they could have a more aerodynamic ‘shape’ and go much, much faster. But then I caught in some video/comments that shields can’t be deployed in atmosphere?? Why would that be?
Grand Admiral Zaarins TIE Defenders and Grand Admiral Thrawns Missile Boat are dramatically faster. The Missile Boat with "slam" activated is traveling mglt 400-500
0:50 actually “mega” is part of the metric system and denotes 1 million. So 1MGLT should be 1 million light years. However this means they incorrectly used it because the largest galaxy (known) is only 6 million light years long and “MGLT” is a measurement for sublight speeds. It would have been much better to use something like “mLT” or “kLT” micro/kilo light year which actually would make sense. On that note they should of used MLT not MGLT. The G is there for no reason.

TIE's use twin Ion Engines.
Arakyd Helix yacht/fighter/freighter. Nothing faster that's not involved in a relativistic incident.
Basically the SWU Bugatti Vairon...
(The MGLT listing has to be a typo, as it was marketed as faster than the Awing or TIE Interceptor with a sublight speed above both in the RPG.)
Fun fact: the MGLT rating is directly correlated to the RPG "Sublight Speed" Value given in ship STATS, just shift a Decimal place and tweak the 1/10ths place to add variation.
TIE Interceptor Sub Spd = 11 (D20) 11d (WEG D6), MGLT =110
Awing sub Spd = 12 (D20) /12d (WEG D6), MGLT = 120.
As for that clip from Mandolarian, " Did him just Jump ?"
Size of the given planet, I could say the boosters just went x3 to 4 planet diameter per second, say 27,000km to 32,000km per second.
I love the humor of the scene but the star fighters inertia dampener ?
How about the Uglys? I wonder how fast a Ugly based on a U-wing body and wings with 2 or 4 A-wing engines would be?
Love the light up Cody Lego helmet on the shelf. Great job on the videos. You keep it interesting with the ideas you consider for the content.
The arc 170 isn't a failure they just didn't use in it's proper role never meant for dog fighting
What is your favorite Star Wars Habitable Planets/Moons?
My favorite is Naboo and Nar Shardaa
Dantooine
@@Oriko-1, Dantooine is too remote...
@@warpartyattheoutpost4987 Exactly and it’s peaceful. Rarely messed with throughout Star Wars history except that time the Sith bombed the Jedi Temple there.
Edit: Another option might be Wayland or Fresia.
@@Oriko-1 I live in Oregon, not far from where Endor was filmed. I'd probably choose Endor.
@@Oriko-1... even though I hate Ewoks. It's beautiful here.
the first order star destoryer being the second fastest ship makes The Last Jedi look even worse... its just one giant chase where the fastest ships in the galaxy couldn't catch the resistance.
You should update the top rated starships for hyperspace capabilities. I would add the Eye of Sion into this list due to the ship having six SISD hyperdrives
What kinda speed can we expect to see from an off the line Jawa sand crawler?
Very Nice 💛💛
the N1 needs more love that ship is so iconic and is my top fave ship from starwars in general
@@DavidRichardson153 you made it sound like the BTL-B variation is faster when the A4 is more of a heavy fighter, which tend to be faster than most craft, just not maneuverable "usually"
We have seen Gold Squadron and other A4 Squadron keep up with even TIE Interceptors, so I wouldn't assume A4s are slow and sluggish, minus what Rogue Squadron had, in comparison to the BTL-B and BTL-S3.
Regarding the N-1 Naboo Starfighter; Mando-Dad outran New Republic era X-Wings (Probably still T-65B's) easily with his broken-down, rebuilt, piece of junk N-1 above Tatooine. Modified, even, with a non-aerodynamic bubble top for Grogurt (I know, space has no atmosphere for friction, so aerodynamics has zero factor in space)
Edit: Just watched to the end of the video, yeah, Mando-Dad's N-1 WAS heavily modified... okay.

I would like to assume a mega light is 1 millionth of a light year 9.46 million kilometers (which can be rounded up to 9.5 M KM) and is about 5.84 million miles which can be rounded to 5.8 million
A wings and eta2's are my favorites of all time
A-Wing superiority all the way. The interceptor interceptor
Only the Suncrusher is higher on my list
So you're telling me that if a Resurgent-class Star Destroyer saw a squad of ships coming at it they could just high-tail it out of there and people couldn't do anything about it?
Well after a year of asking im going to geuss he won't see or won't do my video idea...
So, comment for the algorithm
The Courier-class yacht certainly *looks* fast, but I can’t seem to find a MGLT for it, either. Ah, well… 🤷🏻♂️
3. A-Wing
2. TIE Defender
1. Missile Boat
The Rebellion Y-wings were:
Older designs
_Much_ older vessel
Repaired with whatever parts were available, not those that were best suited
Hi friends, welcome to Alan. My name is Generation Tech.
I noticed you put the YT 1300 in there. Where would the falcon itself rate or did I just miss that?
The Falcon has stock engines
He didn’t rank The Ghost. Wow
I can't find an MGLT rating for either the Ghost or the VCX-100. that's probably why it's not included.
The "Alan says 'robust'" drinking game is alcohol-poisoning-level madness. 😁🍻🥃🍷🍹🍺🥂
My favorites are the TIE interceptor a very raw, but capable fighter and the TIE silencer, it's just so fckin cool
Do you think the star wars galaxy would survive Bill Cipher?
Star Wars being Star Wars. There's some grease monkey that dumpster dove in a places like Jakku or Exegol and cobbled together a one of a kind insanely fast ship.
Since when does the TIE Defender not go 144 MGLT as it's normal cruise? With all energy directed to engines it could do a staggering 180 MGLT! This is why The Empire built the Missile Boat, in case one of the TIE Defender Pilots went rogue, the missile boat could hunt it down and destroy it. @Obiwan7100 gave the correct stats for it too.
The dude is probably using canon as reference
Ships I would have liked to see, even though they both would probably have been at the bottom of this list, the Cloakshape and the I-7 Howlrunner
The A-9 Vigilance as well (there's supposedly a follow on A-10, but no info is ever given that I know of in Legends)...but it's probably place pretty high in this particular list
The ST has some lazy ship design but I LOVE the TIE Silencer and how OP it is
I like the YT freighters, but i always thought the Falcon was overrated. Lando and han made a lot of modifications to the ship, but stuff was always breaking on it as a result.
I'd fly a Aurek Strikefighter any day. A modernized version would be pretty awesome...
Ah 6 years ago we were so naive, we had no idea that getting stabbed by a lightsaber was just a mere flesh wound
How fast was the Lancer class pursuit craft?
Dolphins attack at midnight
No Z-95 Headhunter?
Technically a droid but the Droid Tri-Fighter has a listed MGL of 125, no wonder they were able to outmaneuver the ARC-170
🤔 . . . I think you missed the Q-Wing.
Furthermore, which starship/starfighter is so~o ugly it’ll make Vader, & then Palpatine, 🤢🤮?
I had always thought if ships used their shields in atmosphere, they could have a more aerodynamic ‘shape’ and go much, much faster.
But then I caught in some video/comments that shields can’t be deployed in atmosphere?? Why would that be?
Is there a MGLT to MPH/KPH that corresponds with perceived speeds from on camera battles? The ones I've seen are disproportionately fast.
Does the tie dagger have a rating?
Why not just invest in 100 or 200 tie defenders and put them on the death star? It seems like a good combination.
I'm surprised the Providence got in over the much faster Recusant.
Silencer is my favorite. It's the best part of the sequel trilogy.
Glorious
I see you didn't include the tri droid fighter at 125 MGLT the fastest untill the sequel era
Grand Admiral Zaarins TIE Defenders and Grand Admiral Thrawns Missile Boat are dramatically faster.
The Missile Boat with "slam" activated is traveling mglt 400-500
How is the y-wing so slow with engines that big? It doesn’t make sense.
N1 mentioned 😤✊
22:23 wait a second that's a space engineers recreation why is it here?
0:50 actually “mega” is part of the metric system and denotes 1 million. So 1MGLT should be 1 million light years. However this means they incorrectly used it because the largest galaxy (known) is only 6 million light years long and “MGLT” is a measurement for sublight speeds. It would have been much better to use something like “mLT” or “kLT” micro/kilo light year which actually would make sense. On that note they should of used MLT not MGLT. The G is there for no reason.
Where is anakins personal space ship from zonama sekot. Legends requierd
Rogue Shadow for me! Not because its fast but because its loved! By me!
The resurgences speed explains why it couldn't catch up to the rebel fleet in episode 8 🙄
