  • I finally managed to get out to test out the RASA although I only managed a couple of hours worth of data due to clouds & a few Gremlins along the way. I do still have some slight tilt but I'm not to worried about it as I'm glad the RASA is back up & running again.

Thanks you have to take what you can here in the UK, the weather here is still pretty bad.

My mount also seems to have these strange gremlins sometimes. It will be going along fine then one axis goes weird, recalibrate PHD2 and it's back to normal. Nice looking setup now and final image. 👍

Cheers Ollie I'll admit my patience has been pushed to the limit at times, but when everything is dialled in then it's worth it.

Cheers Glenn, they are finicky but when they're dialled in they're superb bits of kit although the Version 2 is better as you can run an autofocus routine unlike mine due to the mirror flop.
      Thanks for watching clear skies!!

Hey Tich, fantastic image of the Veil nebula. I guess 2 hrs on the RASA is quite a few more hours on other scopes, being so fast (I want one :) ). Enjoy your holiday.

Ha I think a RASA 11 would look good next to the Meade you already have mate I can see you getting one to lol, they are a finicky scope but when they work they're really good & with clear skies being in short supply you have to take what you can.
      Thanks for watching clear skies

Thanks mate it certainly took me by surprise when I started to process it, I still would have liked more time but you have to take what you can right now.

Thanks nothing has gone to plan for a while now so happy to have got something in the end, the weather this year has been pretty bad for imaging hoping we get more clear skies soon.

Hi Tich, How are you getting along with the RASA, and would you recommend it? Of course, if I bought one, it would be version 2. However, I'm worried about soft stars and flare. I have never used a Schmidt telescope, and my Tak's set a high standard for other scopes to follow. All that glass pointing at the sky brings its own issues, right? Anyway, I value your opinion on this matter more than the other "influencers" that change scope more than I change underpants!!!🙂. I have an Epsilon 130ED but fancy the F2.2 at 600mm.

Hi Neil I hope you're well?
As for recommending one they're a right faff don't get me wrong they're great for pulling in data quick but they're a scope you have to mess around with & mine still isn't right although in saying that the tools you can get with Pixinsight can pretty much fix anything these days even bad star shapes.
My mate has a version 2 & even he has had some issues & had to 3D print a load of stuff to get it to work better I've popped a link below so maybe that will make up your mind. From my personal experience I wouldn't recommend one as I've been fighting with mine from day one, but as it came to me rather than me looking for one I can't complain to much about it either.

I'll take a look at your friends channel as well. Hope you are all well. Best wishes from NL for the Near Year and all.@@dumpydalekobservatory
