They wanted to create trauma in order to turn him into a cold hearted killer by compartmentalizing his consciousnesses, so that the broken parts can be programmed to take commands to kill without thought. This is how they create MK ultra hit men and what not. This is probably a common practice in the military.

I’ve always wondered why military people are the only ones who take their careers deep in their personal lives, their way to interact with others, their attitudes, their regime, their eternal “love for guns”.
I’m a physician, it would be like me taking my stethoscope, or barometer home. I hardly wanna speak about my job with friends, and or family.
Military people not only get trained, they get cultured to live with the mentality till they die.

That's dozens of people, probably around 50 minimum. That's not it though. When you pull cq on the first floor you can hear somebody jumping from their bed 3 floors above you. There is absolutely No noise or lights allowed during the night in basic. It's been this way for decades. His entire barracks of over 100 people Would have heard yelling. Is it more likely that not a single person or the drill sergeant pulling guard did anything, or is it more likely he was chaptered out for psych problems?

A select few shouldn’t ruin your outlook on the general population of the military. As a vet, I will admit this is a big deal in the military, and the military is doing a lot to prevent these types of things from continuing to happen within the ranks. Don’t look at every service member as if they’re ALL rapist, though, and don’t deserve love and respect.

Not really surprised by this story. I enlisted in The Military in the late 70’s and was frankly shocked by the number of incidents where “ men “ were being convicted for sexual assault of other men. I think there have always been sexual predators within the ranks, waiting for the right opportunity to act out. Just study the frequency of male sexual assaults within the last ten years. In Fiscal year 2016, 6,300 men were sexually assaulted! This depravity runs deep and it casts a dark shadow on everyone serving.

What I want to know is what would cause a group of similarly recruited men to up and arbitrary select one of their own and perpetrate this upon him? Was he the new guy in the group? His musings at the end seem to indicate that he thinks this is standard procedure in the US Army, for the purpose of hardening soldiers. I find that a little hard to swallow.
