    Respect to the man that spent $450 on a Milwaukee 1/2 impact wrench for one bolt in one video! Ill tell ya man, your'e gonna be sooooo glad you have a strong impact with good break away torque!

      Bought the same impact for crank/axel bolts. 100% worth it.

    3:20 You should be putting a small block of wood behind the ring.
    That way you don't have to worry about bending it while drilling. Achieves straighter drilling.

    I did this to my D16Y7 but smoothed inlet and outlet along with drilling the seal drain port and hogging out the output to match the block. I now run 12 psi at idle and 96 psi at redline.

    I'm wondering if u ended up with a massive leak from that o ring having altered the design. Seems like the flow would be heavy to the machined/roughly drilled side

    What you did to elevate the PSI on the oil pump, would that work on a Vtec D16Y7 engine?

    So does shimming the spring increase idle pressure or just wot ?

    If we just do the shim, will that help at least a little?

    • @NickSabella
      @NickSabella  3 роки тому +1

      Yes it will increase psi which will also slightly increase the oil volume. Just shimming will still help a lot.

      It will only help with your MAX pressure, as it is a pressure relief. If you are trying to improve warm/idle/cruising oil psi, shimming will do nothing.

  • @sungodman001

    Why not to shim more? What will happen if shim to maximum?

    • @NickSabella
      @NickSabella  4 роки тому +3

      If you build the pressure too much you'll cause seals to fail prematurely

      If you shim the spring too much, you could increase the oil pressure too much and cause seals to fail and you may even blow up the oil filter on cold starts when the oil is thick and pressure is at its highest. The pressure relief valve is there for a reason. I shimmed my spring a bit too much and now I peg my 100 PSI oil pressure gauge at 2K RPM with cold oil but once its warmed up it maxes out at around 80-85 PSI, which is fine. As long as I keep the RPMs low while the oil is cold like I always do it should be ok. As long as you aren't going too much over 100 PSI while cold you shouldn't have any problems. Hope this helps!
