  • Gil Batle spent most of his adult as an inmate in California. After nearly a decade of freedom, Batle finds himself drawn back to the world he lived in behind bars as he creates artwork on a very unique canvas. Jane Pauley reports.

Ну поразил меня - это не то слово.
Я подумал, что он резчик по дереву или по камню.

Congrats to Kuya Gil ! To whomever gave this a thumbs down? "Redemption". Look it up in the dictionary and have some empathy. No one is immune from making mistakes in life with some making bigger mistakes than others. No one is any better than the other but, we all deserve a chance and an opportunity to walk the road of redemption whether it's in jail or other form of solitary confinement, involuntary or not, we all deserve a crack at it. Gil's road to redemption was wrought with more hardship than others and whether or not it was self-imposed is irrelevant. He came to grips, got with the program and in closure, his passion for art is what got him through being able to live a normal life as a civilian without getting into any more trouble and even allowed him to reunite with his wife and children. "Empathy". Also in the dictionary. Get some.

Beautiful, that chain link pattern must have been so hard not to mess up. Glad you are reunited with family and sustaining your art practice :)

Based on the video or do you know more of the story that wasn't told? Statements like that require elaboration!!!!

@@erikarahmgren9251 ok- I'll humor you dude.
we were best friends for years- met him in rehab and we lived together afterwards. He was my bright-eyed beautiful brother. Went to Thanksgiving at his brother's house kinda close. i have pieces of art made by him just for me kinda brother. (need to sell em lol).
When everyone gave up on him and his family sent him to the Philippines so he wouldn't do meth and San Quentin anymore- i loved him. we talked for hours on end about everything weekly.
he didn't even want to go to his art opening. i talked him into it.
not even 36 hours after he became famous- his ex-wife suddenly was all about him. And he cut me off- even tho we were platonic. dumped by one of my best friends of all time. sad eh?
Did the same to few other people who had his back when no-one else did.
      Elaborate enough?😂
