    Direct fit telescopic antennas are available and an adapter is not required.

    You can turn up the audio and modulation in the radio. If you put it into service e mode. But Wright down the numbers. Down is up and up is down. I just did my by ear. But a radio service monitor or a signal analyzer and or oscilloscope with a antinnunator is preferred to adjust the audio

    The telescopic antenna ends up quarter wave correct? Hey, also have you checked swr with it?
    And the fm part now legal? Can you spread a little more light on that umm thought I have to get my general

      @single_cam9199 I don't know what the antenna works out to wavelength wise. I did check the SWR and it's fine. You don't need a general license this is CB radio, it's license free.

    Do you happen to have the factory numbers for the Power and modulation? I forgot to write them down when I made changes.

    • @radioman2602
      @radioman2602  Рік тому

      Sorry for the delay, I see your message and I'll look at my radio. Remember these numbers are unique for every radio, but close just not exact. I do know my high power modulation was around 140 from the factory. The others I need to look. I'll try to remember to look tonight.

      @radioman2602  Рік тому

      No, as long as its cut for CB, you'll be fine. Mine works great.

    I bought a Randy 2 fcc and was extremely frustrated that it didn't have the car kit like the uk model. I wanted the capability to use the radio like the midland handheld cb with the car adapter that has the antenna cable running out the bottom of the radio. I went onto Amazon and changed my country to UK and ordered the randy 3. When connected to the car kit you get 12 watts on FM.
    The advantage of the randy 2 fcc is the weather channels but thats it. Randy 3 : a better car kit, 12w fm, ctcss, and you can expand to extra channels if you want.
    A note on the antennas. I bought the telescoping antenna with a tnc and it doesn't have the slop that the bnc has. Also the rubber duck is definitely NOT a dummy load and is actually extremely good for what it is. President did a good job with the stock antenna. But as we all know longer is always better unless you're walking through the trees lol.

      The car kit is a nice feature but not a deal breaker for me. I've heard a few people tell me about the antenna with TNC which is good to know. The 12 watts on FM really isn't going to be noticed by the receiving station. Either way you have a nice break down on the differences. Are you in the US? how do you go about getting a European version?

      @markhuisinga1698 Рік тому

      @Radioman260 I realize that 12w vs 4w won't be noticeable close by but will increase the long range on fm (BTW the 12w is only available when expanded and then connected to external power via car kit or charging adapter)
      I am in the US. I went on the Amazon app and in the settings I changed my country to the UK and just proceeded by ordering it like normal. I had it in about a week. And 10 minutes later I had it expanded and tuned. There is a great UA-cam video from NLK Media from the UK going through the service menu and explaining everything.
      I DEFINITELY recommend the TNC antenna

    1. You don't need a BNC adapter to use that longer walkie-talkie antenna...they have one that fits that radio... 2. The Randy can be turned up to 5 watts with better modulation.... It will perform BETTER than a mobile that only puts out 4 watts... Your video needs an update...
