Just got the President Randy 2 looking for that antenna I have the other one but looking for the black one and adapter what is the hight of it like 42 inches good info video Ty RM260
Hello from UK,glad your having fun with Randy HT,love mine EU version ,but love the tactical pouch in video,do you have a link to it? Have you tried S-NFM mode & CTCSS on it ,works great ctcss for talk groups comms. If you want a little more range ,try a 9ft 1\4wave counterpoise wire on a crimp ring terminal under the TNC connector and screw antenna down to get a ground connection to wire. I get much improved performance when on fringe areas typical 3 S points more on TX and RX on stock antenna. Keep the radio vids coming, lets see fm mode in USA,we had it a while in UK but ctcss is a much improved feature to CB radio now. Rob.P
Can I use these Amazon antennas without using a SWR meter I really don't want to mess up my Randy is your Randy still working properly? After using these different antennas
@@radioman2602nice I do like the added durability over 52 inch telescopic as well. Also dipole is good anywhere you stationary for reasonable amount of time. I keep a roll up wire one for my portable and sling it up over fence poles or rocks in the desert. You got plenty of great trees here to use so even better.
@@Fox250Rget the longer tape antenna president do tnc connector.Makd a counterpoise wire 9ft long, crimp ring terminal attached to wire, then unscrew antenna on top, slip ring around the TNC socket ,then screw antenna back on. Ull get 3S points more on Tx/Rx . Stock antenna ok for short range uses 1-3miles. Use FM mode+ctcss for improved voice Comms Ctcss will allow only your talk groups to be heard. Rob. P
@@Fox250Rthey actually decent. Similar to the lowband 30mhz whips on old-school commercial HTs. One of the best included ones. Easily get a mile between pairs on FM mode.
Really no reason. Locally not much FM use, so making the video I never considered it. I have used FM in the past and I do definitely think it's worthwhile.
If you check the video description there is links there. For the tape whip antenna and the telescopic whip antenna. You'll also need the BNC to TNC adapter.
Not that I'm aware. Maybe someday, sure would be nice though. At least I have AM/FM regular 40 CB. THE FM sounds great and the tuning from the factory is good. Except the AM modulation needs a bump up.
Yes mine works fine. 1. Does it receive the weather channel with the HYS antenna, if not does it receive on the supplied rubber duck 2. Does your local WX transmitter do a local alert test? If so have you put your radio in alert mode and tried it with the HYS or stock rubber duck.
Very helpful with your list of where to purchase items at. Thank you.
You are so welcome!

If you check the description of my video, there is a Amazon link to the antenna.
Yes it's 42 inches.

Yes my randy is fine, as long as the antenna is advertised for CB you're good to go, no meter needed.
Why not a baofeng conected to a club repeater for emergences? Will get more distance for sure
My channel is focused on CB radio content, so I tend to stay in that lane. Plenty of channels going on about Baofeng all day every day.
How is the tape whip antenna? I was looking at that on amazon and someone said it's not resonant where it's supposed to be on 27mhz.
I've not actually checked it... maybe that's a video idea, the tape whip put performs the supplied rubber ducky antenna.

One more question for you Mr radio expert. What does code off and tone mean in the service menu I cannot find any info on it
I do not know, sorry.
I wonder if I should just get a Randy and forget about the base station.🤔🔊🔊🎙
I got my Randy to use hill topping and around the property. To work any DX you'd definitely have a challenge.
I have two of them and they aren’t very good with the stock antennas.

Just curious why not use FM?
Really no reason. Locally not much FM use, so making the video I never considered it. I have used FM in the past and I do definitely think it's worthwhile.
Can you link me to your antenna

Can you modify this radio into export mode?

The Randy lll in Europe is easily modifiable for export expansion but not the North American FCC version.
Only Randy III EU version ,FCC locked 😢
What mic is that?
Its a mic that I would not recommend! I had to modify it to use with the radio and the audio quality is not great, its passable but not great.
whats wrong mr lahey? you hear that bo bandy ? a shit storm is coming. i am the liquor
The shit winds are blowing....

@radioman2602 I put it into alert mode like you said, and then it works somehow after that. Thanks, man
