As Fr.Richard alluded to, the Rosery is a mantra and when you reach that quiet place, Mary has done her job, hence Contemplation; I know I stated this before.Veronica OCDS Rhode Island
Did not Jesus say "And when you pray, do not use vain repetitions, as the heathens do."? I totally agree, in shutting off the internal dialog, but, isn't "The Rosary" vain repetitions?
Sometimes vain repetition quietens the mind. Like the Lord have Mercy Christ have mercy..there is a time and place for all kinds of prayer. I love Richard Rohr he is a quality beautiful teacher. Humble and very encouraging. Thank you Richard.
If some people listen to something they are confused with, then listening to it a few times more, yes, even listening to Richard a few more times on the Rosary, then you might get it/see it/ understand what he was truly saying. Repetitious listening! 👂
This does not stop many people from using the name Jesus in a useless way! The way that Richard describes the Rabbi pronouncing "The NAME" about 30times does sound similar to the way that the Eastern Orthodox Christians in particular recite or breathe, as Richard said: "The Jesus Prayer". There certainly is quite a difference in the intent of usage, and yet the Jesus Prayer might sound redundant and boring to people who irreverently take the name of GOD in vain or use it in a worthless way all day long.

Astonishingly perceptive and so obvious when you hear it.
Yep. You knew it all along, but needed to hear it to articulate it.

The Rosary is sacred and beautiful...you have missed the entire point of Richard's teachings

31:28-31:35. Why is that lady so antsy? lol
Looks like she's wearing a sling with maybe a baby in it.
