I love to read and listen to Richard Rohr. He closes that Catholic-Protestant difference, and strives to make us all understand who we are and our relationship to God.
He does nothing of the sort both camps reject him as a heretic for what he teaches - he doesn't teach Biblical Christianity. He isn't trying be or call people to discipleship, he rarely quotes any Scripture it's a message for people who don't want to change or conform to the Lords ways.

This is maybe one of Richard's best presentations. The video quality is poor, but don't turn it off. It's very worth a full listen.

2023 and R Rohr has continued to show integrity. Pope Francis met with him and if you only ask yourself truly, "Am I operating from the need to be right"? Is my argument serving a dualistic purpose? Then you are following Christ. Bless Richard for making us seek truth.
A friend introduced me to Father Rohr’s teachings several years back- beginning with a friend sharing with me the CD Set “Breathing Under Water.” Since then I have certainly been influenced by his teachings and I have grown spiritually from his knowledge and wisdom for which I will be eternally grateful. I am glad Father Rohr did not make any political comments or share his political viewpoints on this CD set. Even though I share many of his viewpoints, I find political statements to be distracting and controversial… mostly especially now. Quoting AA’s Tradition 10:
When “Bill W and the Old Timers” wrote the 12 Steps and 12 Traditions they wisely included in Tradition 10 “AA Groups have NO Opinion on outside issues; hence our name ought never to be brought into public controversy.” Wise Words Indeed.

Orthodox Judaism viewed Jesus a heretic in his time. Judgement comes quickly because of no understanding in the Spirit. Dear brother I embraced Evangelical Fundementalism in mid life. Led by the H.S. I see so much more of God's grace without judging where others are in their Journey. From the comments I read about this Franciscan brother of ours, so many have been saved from walking away from Christianity all together. This man FOLLOWS Jesus in not judging others in their various stages of spirituality. All in God's time we will ALL be brought home by courtesy of Jesus the Christ on the cross. Shalom😊

Why does 1 simple verse of scripture seem to make you so uncomfortable? Perhaps it's your reaction to the conviction of the Holy Spirit warning you. You're also very judgmental...and narrow minded against my beliefs (namely, that people such as Richard Rohr pervert and twist scripture out of context like Satan did in Gen. 3:1-5, Matthew 4:6, etc.). You judged me without knowing me to be "fearful," "uncomfortable," and "struggling through life." Open your mind to the truth of God's Word and stop being so narrow minded and judgmental. Read the Bible, in context and cry out to God for mercy and He will hear you.

His message is not for itching ears! The law won’t change you, spending time in Gods presence does.

Why
If you google "Richard Rohr reviews" you can read top websites giving an eloquent answer. Epithets describing him there: "psychobabbler, new ager." I googled him because I was fascinated by his talks until I heard one heresy after another, feeling confused. I am a Catholic who left the church for awhile, studying other religions. I heard many who spoke half truths like this priest. I found the truth back in the solid teachings of the Catholic Church.
Everything he talks about are from traditions probably much older than you. How is he new age ?
