I crocheted the knit stitch hat in a baby size. It worked out beautifully. The only thing I did differently was to make a tunisian crochet rib using 1tps and 2 tks. I didn't need to pick up stitches as it's "grown on."

I believe the include the brim, but if you want to turn up the brim then I would add more height.

I ch 10, (per website). Sc down, ch 1 turn, blo sc but it is twisting and looks nothing like yours.
