I Think a small backhoe would fix the problem quickly. Dig around the outside easy fix. But get to the heart of the problem find the the drain from the stable. And eaves troughs will help
Goals for 2025: 1. Bookshelves, 2. Barn yard drainage (both barns), 3. Round bail feeder for the sheep, 4. Firewood shed rebuild, 5. Sliding door for cattle barn…
Practically the equipment storage sheds and the pasture shelter seem to me to be priorities but because we want to continue to enjoy your journey you better get Rebecca's bookshelf built first. I greatly enjoy you and Rebecca's teamwork to make your dream farm a reality. You are a fortunate man to have a good wife to help you along the way. Blessings to you both!
I agree with many of the comments so far, Rebecca deserves her book shelves! Plus, that’s a good winter, indoor project. Outside, definitely bank barn drainage system before someone gets hurt, and the wells would be very beneficial. Keep up the good work, and Happy New Year!
Happy New Year from the UK. First thing, and probably most important. Rebecca's shelves and cupboards... You know what they say, Happy wife Happy life...
I say, count all the votes for Rebecca's bookshelves. I bet that project has the most. I would start there as she has been waiting a long time. Then the firewood shed, bank barn drainage, and the bridge. Keep up the good work. I just love you two and your channel.
Bookshelves first, wood shed and equipment shelter in one project, wells seem to be biggest priority also, rest of things as you have time ! Good luck to you in 2025 !
Just for thought for your drainage problem. We use a hole dug out filled with silt cloth, course 1 1/2 rock, a plastic garbage can and a sump pump with float. Cheap but functional.
Happy New Year. Looks like your number one priority for 2025 is the book shelves. You have good goals for this year. Looking forward to watching you working on your projects this year. Pete, did a drainage for his farm. The root cellar sounds like a fun project. You are going to have a busy year. Thank you.
Put me down for the firewood shed. The bridge will be cool, and I think the drainage will be a real quality of life improvement. The bookshelves will be neat just because they're woodworking, not carpentry. I know that's an interest of yours we don't see often. Best of luck in the new year. Evan going full time has been a blessing for the viewers.
Love the progress you've made this year. I'm proud that you're not beating yourself up over it, even though you only rate it at 70% complete. You're doing an awesome job. I'm most looking forward to the firewood shed and the drying up of the bank barn area. Now, that being said--- I hope you knock your 2025 goals out of the ballpark because you're home fulltime now, and I really think you're underestimating your "power" in that regard. 😁 Seriously love your channel. Thank you so much for all the work you do to put it out here for us! ❤
Whatever you and Rebecca get to work on will be fine with us. Stay safe and Happy throughout the year and taking us along for the ride will be awesome. Fred and family.
Thanks for starting off the New Year Evan!!!!When it get closer to spring start throwing grass seed in the heavy use areas the cattle have worked up, let them work the seed in.
The bookshelf project would interest me the most. I am not very good at woodworking, though I do enjoy it, but my father was a master when it came to woodwork, cabinets, furniture, etc. I hope that you film and share your progress as you do that project.
You two have done a tremendous job in crafting your dream home. Can't wait to see your continued progress. I look forward to the drainage problem with the bank barn.
Another UA-camr has problems with a muddy lot as well, they filled it up with wood chips all over the mud area, when I find them again I will let you know😊
Ambitious goals indeed. All noteworthy and needed. Rebekah’s bookshelves will be a great Wintertime project not to mention it will put a big ol’ smile on her face. So…get that Allis back together and out of the way!😛 Happy New Year!
All the best in 2025! I am looking forward to the woodshed rebuilt, but really want you to work on your water problems at the older barn. I believe you all will be much happier if that is done.
I'm looking forward to the Allis Chalmers completion and the bank barn water issues. Getting the front 12 acres cleared, fenced and planted for livestock was a huge project and getting that mostly completed in 2024 is a major win, imo. No more worrying about having enough grazing land for the animals.
The firewood shed, then the bridge. However, don't forget to take the time to stop and smell the roses! Believe it or not, someday you're not going to have the time--we all get there. It's amazing how quickly it happens! You've had a great year. I'm surprised you didn't list giving up your "day job" to become a full-time farmer. That was a huge decision for sure! Best of luck with all your new goals. God bless!
Looking forward to getting your livestock heavy use areas taken care of. Working in slop and trying to get tractors in and out was my worst nightmare. Once I put my lime pack down it was a dream come true. I was happy along with the cattle. 😊
Great job on 2024! Excited to see the new projects for 2025, especially the book shelf and the bridge! I think you'll enjoy the bridge more than you think. Also love the idea of the shelter centered to allow easier rotation of grazing. I'm not a farmer, but that's how I always envisioned it and wondered why no one ever does it that way!
I look forward to the hillside barn drainage project. You guys have struggled with mud and flooding for so long and it seems like it will really improve conditions.
I look forward to seeing Rebekah's book shelves, because she has been very patient waiting on them. After that, I will enjoy anything that is on your list. Especially the muddy part in front of the barn. Even if it is just the gutters this year. Thanks for sharing your goals and overall you did an amazing job last year...the fencing is superb. Have a Blessed day.
Ambitious goals and every one of them is a great project! I wish you and Rebekah the best of the best for 2025! The ones that help the longevity of the farmstead are the important ones but the balance you seek for the aesthetics is also very important for your personal enjoyment and relaxation are just as important. You both work hard and love your animals so my advice is to take time to fully enjoy them all! You are still my most favorite channel on YT by far!!
Great way to start the new year! Looking forward to the firewood shed. It is a visual that you will see multiple times a day. And will be nice to get it done before the heat of the summer! Happy New Year! 🥂 here’s to another great year with CVA!
I use a ratchet strap to go around my round bales in between feedings, helps keep it from unrolling when moving from the barn and back. It only takes a minute or two and saves a lot of hay from going on the driveway.
Let's see. Finishing the Allis and the bookshelves is your wintertime projects. In the early spring, build a couple of birthing stalls and try to finish the pasture work.. In the late spring, complete some of the garden renovations but leave some for next year. In the early fall, fix the firwood shed. In the late fall, put up a livestock shelter in the pasture and try to finish a livestock feeder. The summer needs to be devoted to your barn drainage problem and if there is time, you can then work on building your bridge over troubled water. If you can solve the barn drainage problem and complete four other projects, I would count it as a very successful year.
You called two of your projects I’m most looking forward to. I’m excited to see the new firewood shed and the bridge. I’m also excited for the drainage around the bank barn. I know it would be a future project but I’m looking forward to the renovation of the bank barn. The root cellar is a project I didn’t know I was looking forward to. But now you’ve said it I can’t wait to watch you build it.
It must surely feel great to be feeding your animals the food you grew, cut and baled yourself and it still looks pretty green. May your troubles be small and your successes great in 2025. No matter what project you start first there will be some criticism so, do what you and Rebekah think will benefit you both best.
You've probably thought about increasing the roof height for your equipment, if not my advice is to allow for the height on the low side to be at least a foot over the tallest piece of equipment you have. Your rotational grazing is what I did for a while, using a pinwheel design is a good idea! The firewood shed is my pick, non-the-less, I wish the best for all your plans in 2025!
Wow! My living 'off grid' at 68 yrs old is 1/100th of yours! So enjoyable to see both of you working for a good strong nurturing home and land that gives back to you. I'm all for your goals and look forward to hearing from you all again, prayers from California
LOVE THE GOALS FOR 2025 my vote is the Root Cellar......sounds fun to do to help offset the stress of the other huge goals you've set Lookingh forward to watching
Happy New Year. First the tractor, then bookshelves, then the wood shed. fourth the animal shelter in white barn, fifth the hay bunk at fence. In the summer for number 6 would be the bridge. That's all...Have fun, stay safe and take care. God bless you both from Michigan.
Happy New Year! First things first, load in your firewood on the front porch. The next few weeks are looking like they could be brutal with ice storms, snow and cold temps! Stay safe and stay warm. I'll be praying that this does not hit you guys hard. God Bless! I think you did terrific in 2024. Your progress is amazing and the property look fantastic. .How about getting one , or two, of those fans that sits on the wood stove in the barn. Just makes it more efficient.
I'm looking forward to seeing the bridge being built. What sort will it be. A standard type supported on some sort of columns or will it be a pontoon type on floating supports. My vote is for a pontoon , easier to build and put in place and will carry a heavier load for a given size.
Seeing the bookshelves come together will be cool, the wood shed is kinda a have to but I think the bridge will be the most interesting. God bless 🙏🏼🇺🇸✌🏼😎
when my folks bought the farm where i live now they built 2 big 30ft concrete bottom stock tanks ,(at the time they were running about 100 cows) several of the pastures we divided up with hot wire fences to do rotational grazing, all centered on the 2 big tanks. we only had some wind brakes for shelter but in northern OK winters are not usually that bad for long we also hade a big native grass pasture with lots of trees for shelter that we saved all summer and used for winter pasture. think some drainage and harder soil in the back alley behind the new animal barn would help , getting the 2nd in line feeder will keep them from tromping it up too gutters would help lots i am looking forward to work on the bank barn interested in seeing what it takes to get rid of the water problem. Book shelves are a MUST (we read a lot too) but that can be a bad weather project!! have fun next year
I love you and your videos! I’ve been watching for quite some time along with my boyfriend but I’ll start watching on my own so I can give you a thumbs up. I appreciate your humility and consider you to be the Gary Cooper of Utube! Good luck, Happy New Year, and keep up the good work!
I agree with whatever you need to do Evan!! I really enjoy your posts!! Probably my fave along with Just A Few Acres. Clean up vids are always a hit with most people and I believe you have some sites around the property that need some sorting. No pressure, LOL, just ideas. HNY to you both. From Vancouver
Definitely the bridge and bush clearing as the most anticipated. Getting that water issue fixed at your bank barn is another. And now this wishlist equipment shed. Would love to see that
Building that bridge might work well for the tours, with maybe a few benches to sit on to look over the pond. Maximize the beauty of the place with fishing posibilities. Best payback outside Rebecca's shelving would be the firewood shed. and water well. Both will save huge amount of money.
I wish you both a happy and healthy new year. My three favorites would be the bridge, the drainage around the barn and the bookshelves/cabinets. But I generally like watching how you do all your projects.
Congrats on the many goals completed in 2024!! I look forward to seeing the back of the Allis Chalmers finished, the pasture shelter for the livestock, and the drain system for the back of the bank barn. Book shelves built on rainy days.
I'm most looking forward to you developing your new pasture for rotational grazing with the central shelter. I'm wanting to do something like that in the future.
i wish u all the luck and blessings and money u need to make ur projects possible. u guys seem like perfectionist and always do good work and great work with ur farm. i watch u guyz every week. time well spent
Bro, I'm exhausted just watching this video. I love watching your videos. They are very informative and entertaining. I want that bridge over troubled waters completed as my most anticipated job. 🤣🙌🏾
Suggestion for the wood shed makeover. Make the design wider (same width) than deeper so you can "easily" get to your totes. Even if you stack them, wider is better than deeper so you don't have to play Tetris. I hope you get what I'm saying.
I'm looking forward to seeing the firewood shed build. Seems I've been waiting forever to see it. Next I'd like to see the Allis Chalmers back in action. I'm always excited to see you actually build structures. What you do with the livestock barn will be nice to see too. I know I will be here watching and looking for what you come up with for the bridge project too. Your 8 goals gives us so much to look forward to. You are a talented constuctionist and you do a LOT to that end. You do things so well that I fault you for making us drool to see what you'll come up with next. I wish for you to do whatever makes you happy and complete and just hope that you don't wear yourself out so that we no longer have your dreams to look forward to.
Like your project list. Consider an 3 sided loafing shed built on skids for your 12 acre pasture, pull where needed. In my state if bldg. is not secured to the ground by post, foundation or concrete, we do not pay annual real estate taxes on it. Surprised you have not needed to paint old barn roofs. Pole barn looks pretty rusty & close to pin holes letting in rain water.
When you build your root cellar, make it without metal. Yes that will be hard but necessary for secondary reasons for that safe space. Make sure it is resistant to flooding too, plenty of drainage.
Really enjoy keeping up with you, Lyman Acres and Sow The Land. All of you accomplished so much in 2024. Never any excuses, but showing and telling it like it is . Thanks for 2024, looking forward to following you in 2025.
Enjoy your videos! Look forward to your book shelf project & the firewood shed. Your pipe fencing looks really nice, been fun watching! It takes time but looks so nice!😊
I think the project that will be the most beneficial will be to control the water drainage around the bank barn; I also think it will be the most difficult. Happy New Year.
What about using your pond as a giant cistern to store water? Basically, direct all the run-off into the pond and then pull from there to water fields and such. With all your solar, you could probably run electric pumps as needed. What do you think?
Happy New Year, Evan & Rebecca! You have many worthy goals for this year. I am always interested to see how you approach each job. You also help keep me motivated to tackle my own projects! 😊
Looking forward to the bookshelf and shed building. Love those type of videos Keep it up, I'm very interested in how you guys develop in the new year. Best of luck!
I think you should leave the fence on the garden but make a wide alley way in a cross padern and make 4 large rased beds in the corners. At least thats what I would do, full acsess for the tractor from 2 sides and maybe use some slanted 8x8's to make a ramp for the tractor to access the beds. or just ues a walk behind tiller ;)
2024, you need to get Rebecca’s bookshelf done! She takes care of you, you need to take care of her!
For your health and wellbeing I look forward to those bookshelves the most.
@@--_DJ_-- happy wife happy life.
What you do get done is done well, correct !!! Happy New Year !!! Hard working couple ,honest ,stay healthy ! Thanks for sharing !

I would make fixing the barn drainage a top priority
That’s where a good HUAP would do wonders.
I agree, barn drainage first. I would contact local Amish to make the bookshelves. As a compromise, maybe install the shelves after they are built .,
I
Think a small backhoe would fix the problem quickly. Dig around the outside easy fix. But get to the heart of the problem find the the drain from the stable. And eaves troughs will help

I look forward to the projects to better handle the water in and around your barns.
Happy New Year!
looking good Evan,
Bookshelves first, wood shed and equipment shelter in one project, wells seem to be biggest priority also, rest of things as you have time ! Good luck to you in 2025 !
Project number one: Rebecca's bookshelf. After that, we will talk, till then Happy New Year!!! Stay healthy and stay safe the both of you!!
firewood shed and the bridge are the ones I have been waiting for. love the channel keep up the good work.
Happy New Years you two.
I'm most looking forward to the bookshelves and getting the water sorted around the bank barn. They'll both be a great challenge.
Firewood shed absolutely! But drainage around the bank barn would probably be the most helpful to the homestead

I would build the bookshelves first then finish the workshop. Then you’ll have an efficient workspace to tackle all of the other projects. 👍
Draining that barn is gonna be fun - lets see where that water is coming from :)
Looking forward to another year with you guys
Happy New Year 🎊🎊
I would like to see your Allis Chalmers done, wood shed, bridge to the other side of pond, plus start a small cow calf operation
The book shelves, the tractor rebuilt and out of your work shop, then the wood shed/storage shed.
Ambitious goals indeed. All noteworthy and needed. Rebekah’s bookshelves will be a great Wintertime project not to mention it will put a big ol’ smile on her face. So…get that Allis back together and out of the way!😛

Rebeccas bookshelves would be a great Winter project. Once the weather starts warming up the rest will fall into place.

You’ve come a long way from when I first started watching shortly after you purchased your property!
To keep the sheep from climbing into your covered hay feeder attach pig panels or cattle panels on to the wood slats to block them out.
I'm looking forward to seeing the bridge being built. What sort will it be. A standard type supported on some sort of columns or will it be a pontoon type on floating supports. My vote is for a pontoon , easier to build and put in place and will carry a heavier load for a given size.
1. Firewood Shed 2. Old barn drainage. Looking forward to watching. Happy New Year!
Seeing the bookshelves come together will be cool, the wood shed is kinda a have to but I think the bridge will be the most interesting.

Woodshed rebuilt, tractor restoration , bridge and barn drainage would be my picks.
Evan, you might check around the bottom of your sheep hay feeder, when you moved it, it looked like there was some twine dragging behind the feeder.

Thank you for the update. Good goals. When the wood shed is rebuilt (I think first mention in 2018) there will be dancing. But take care of Rebekah.
Really enjoy keeping up with you, Lyman Acres and Sow The Land. All of you accomplished so much in 2024. Never any excuses, but showing and telling it like it is . Thanks for 2024, looking forward to following you in 2025.
Lumnah Acres.
The bridge and the woodshed projects are what I’m looking forward to . But also Rebekah’s bookshelf.
Enjoy your videos! Look forward to your book shelf project & the firewood shed. Your pipe fencing looks really nice, been fun watching! It takes time but looks so nice!😊
I think you did great on your projects. Just getting the fence done was a major step. Hope this year is just as fruitful.
I think the project that will be the most beneficial will be to control the water drainage around the bank barn; I also think it will be the most difficult. Happy New Year.
Get the tractor back together.
Then get the shelfs done for Rebecca!!!
Great job in 24!
What about using your pond as a giant cistern to store water? Basically, direct all the run-off into the pond and then pull from there to water fields and such. With all your solar, you could probably run electric pumps as needed. What do you think?
Plastic tile is pretty cheap. If you are sure you have everything where you want/need it, think about tile to keep your high traffic areas dryer.
Happy New Year, Evan & Rebecca! You have many worthy goals for this year. I am always interested to see how you approach each job.
You also help keep me motivated to tackle my own projects! 😊
Happy wife ,happy life. I look forward to you doing Rebecca's book shelfs done , the sooner the better for you.😂
Looking forward to the bookshelf and shed building. Love those type of videos
Keep it up, I'm very interested in how you guys develop in the new year. Best of luck!
Rebekah’s shelves and the bridge. Garden and woodshed. Ok all it 🥂
When I was in the Marine Corps we had modular floating bridges that we drove tanks across a lake.
All the best in 2025,hope you succeed in most of your goals I be watching for sure
I think you should leave the fence on the garden but make a wide alley way in a cross padern and make 4 large rased beds in the corners. At least thats what I would do, full acsess for the tractor from 2 sides and maybe use some slanted 8x8's to make a ramp for the tractor to access the beds. or just ues a walk behind tiller ;)
my top hit list would be the bookshelf's, barn drainage should be up high on the list. Then firewood/storage shed.
Looking forward to the firewood shed build and bridge across the pond, also the drainage project on the old barn. Happy New Year to you and Rebecca.
