I think I might be one of those people who can hear it.
My neighbour has one of these machines that beeps.
It causes my heart to race and for me to feel incredibly anxious.
Would you have any suggestions for people who can hear the sound, and feel very adversely affected?

Some people are sensitive to ultrasonics. They do not make a beeping sound however.
Changing the frequency from low to high frequency usually solves the problem as animals , birds and people who are sensitive to ultrasonics find them more irritating on low frequency and much less noticeable or irritating on high frequency. Hope this helps.
