I used to think that “rich” foods and eating out at restaurants was the ultimate goal of getting wealthy. The rich life now is enjoying the burst of flavors from plant foods like never before. It’s heavenly!
The biggest surprise for me is how QUICKLY your taste buds adapt. After two weeks, I had no cravings for junk food or sugar.... and I have been a chronic over-eater for most of my adult life. I've struggled because I bought into the "I can have a 'treat'' now and then" mentality of moderation. Its a lie, folks. lol. This solution has been hiding in plain sight, thanks for making this video, I'm living proof its painless to retrain your tastebuds. :)
Wow, this is a GREAT video!!! This is SOOO true! We got SO used to eating the junk, and now, going back to the basics..... My daughter says I am eating GROSS foods now.... whole food, plant based! But I've told her, I am eating the BEST food on the planet now! I do have to say, it IS an acquired taste though, if you aren't used to it. It doesn't take very long either!!! Just a few days, and you start craving these REAL foods!!!
Thank you for this. I am just a few weeks in and I am really trying to like beans and lentils and I am not going to lie--it has been a struggle. I finally don't crave sugar or eggs or dairy. But I am on the struggle bus with liking veggies/beans and feeling like eating all the things I am supposed to. It is hard to be a vegetarian who really does not like many vegetables. I have 100 more pounds to lose so have eliminated nuts and seeds for now. But I really enjoyed my pistachios and almonds and walnuts on my oatmeal. I really appreciate how hard you both work on your recipes and I know I need to just keep trying them. I told my own children that you have to try a new food many times before you like it. I am taking that advice myself but sometimes the food just causes almost a gag reflex. Sorry. I am working my way through your videos and again...thank you so much for all you do. BTW--my hubby and I were up along the North Shore of Lake Superior (in MN) this weekend and I picked up multiple garlic rocks--all for FREE!! Guess what everyone is getting for Christmas?
Ha ha ha, mine did a long time ago. We both had health issues so I was very forward.... "This is how I'm eating and you're welcome to share, but if you want something else, you buy and cook it, I'm not." He caved pretty quickly.
This is what needed to hear, I keep falling back into rich food because my family is not on board with me. I just got to bite the bullet and give it five days of clean food. Thinking about a juice fast for sure. I also need to set some rules for my environment. Thanks Dillion for this video. I needed it today. BTW I am excited about your recipes just got to cookbook bundle.
Sorry to hear your family is not on board. You got this!! The WYW Facebook community is great for accountability and support. If you are not a member, you can join here facebook.com/groups/wellyourworld
I just got my Well Your World spices, and I am very impressed! There are much larger than I expected them to be❣️ I wish I could upload a photo of them here to show you all. Keep up the good work,Dillon!😊
I made two of your meals today…the sweet potato bowl (turned wrap) and the spaghetti o(rzo)s from the free trial of the live show. Making the other two this week too Oh man yum. So good. Thanks for KEEPING IT SIMPLE.
The food we eat changes our tastebuds. Starting the day with a breakfast salad is very effective due to that it requires less willpower than eating a salad after long day or even at lunch. And on top of that it makes us crave healthier food choices and less unhealthy ones.
Someone once told me our tastebuds get replaced every 2 weeks. Not sure if it’s true , but if so that’s super quick if you are trying to “retrain” the new ones!
Well said! You have captured the Western diet and the problems associated with the cyclical health issues, not to mention the sick narrative shoved down our throats by the food companies and big pharma. Thank you for your excellent explanation of kickstarting/reset of our tastebuds! 😊
I contemplated going to true North, but I didn’t want to do a 30 day water fast come back from it and relapse into the same sort of environment. I feel mentally ready even in my current environment without going away and this was just what I was looking forward to basically Come up with some motivation and strategy to reset my taste buds. I’ve heard that it takes about two weeks to get over salt and sugar taste buds and as long as a month to get over oil and savory tastes. I definitely find myself lacking after a sufficient calorie very healthy vegan meal and I am eating starches, but I find myself reaching for the Process hotdog vegan style or nuggets or things like that and I have to cut those.
Yes it takes time and can be done without going away, but it can also be hard when you're just starting out. At the end of the day, you want to make sure you are good and full pretty often at first, because you do not want to feel like you are depriving yourself of food. Keep at it! And keep the junk food out of the house entirely if possible.
My cousin used to get up in the morning and cook 2 chickens for breakfast--one for herself and one for he husband. They would eat a feast of chicken and waffles and eggs, etc. for breakfast every morning. Eventually my cousin could not stand for her feet to touch the floor. She was diagnosed with severe gout and passed away within months from a rare pneumonia after being on a respirator for several weeks. A few years later, her husband passed away. Bothe were only in their 40s.
Your taste buds pick up the delicious nuances in food after you go WFPB. I don't care for most restaurant vegan food because it's too salty & oily. Once you get used to eating oil free food it's kind of gross when oily food coats you tongue & mouth.
I did a 3 day water fast. I broke my fast with a platter of fruit and I thought it would taste amazing but it really didn’t taste different than normal. Does that mean I need to fast longer? I don’t know..
It took me about a month (can’t remember exactly), but when my taste buds changed all the WFPB foods tasted SO delicious & I started craving those foods!!🙃

You have an uncanny ability to "nail it" 💪❤ One of our best "message-ers" in our Plant Based world 🙏 GREAT WORK ❗
Thank you for this! Lots of pressure for moderation from people who are on meds and feel that’s a better solution.

I find that rice is easier to like than heavier whole grains. And it’s all about finding sauces, herbs and spices that you like.
Love your recipes!Feed them to my non plant based family they are pleasantly surprised
Today my husband went WFPB . He doesn’t know it🤪😜😝! This is the way I love to eat to live!
Ha ha ha, mine did a long time ago. We both had health issues so I was very forward.... "This is how I'm eating and you're welcome to share, but if you want something else, you buy and cook it, I'm not." He caved pretty quickly.
And now these hubbies know how truly delicious this food is! Mine has not complained a bit. 😋

Thanks for the #plantrant! I love this way of eating. I’m never hungry and I don’t gain weight and it’s delicious❤️
LOVVVVVVVED it!!! Great information and so true. Resetting taste buds isn't hard and it totally works!!
I needed this video man. I've fallen into the moderation pressure of family and I'm not healthy again. It just does not work.
I made two of your meals today…the sweet potato bowl (turned wrap) and the spaghetti o(rzo)s from the free trial of the live show. Making the other two this week too Oh man yum. So good. Thanks for KEEPING IT SIMPLE.
So glad you are enjoying the recipes Kathy!
Thanks for this awesome video Dillon. Yes we need to get used to eating a healthy WFPB diet. Love 🥰 the video and love ❤ Dillon & 💕Reebs.
LOL when I saw the caveman with a visor I lost it😂 Great video, very motivating 👍👍
“Science food” 😆Perfect term!
You are the real deal. Thank you for your videos!

PREACH! Loved what you said about the moderation thing. Moderation with highly addictive foods is no bueno.
I just found this channel, and I think It Is. *Exactly.* What I Needed.
While watching this video, I was eating bean burritos with a roasted red pepper and eggplant sauce with loads of green o onions! So good!
That sounds delicious!
I really like how you word things, it makes me want to listen. Thanks!

I totally agree!
So true!
This
100% agree!
Loving it!

We just tried your pizza sauce!!! It was crazy delicious!!!! Wow!!!
Thank you for your support, so glad you enjoyed it!
Outstanding video!
Love broccoli.
Nice explanation, Dillon! Love you & Reebs
How long did it take for your tastebuds to change? You don’t mention this in the video.
It took me about a month (can’t remember exactly), but when my taste buds changed all the WFPB foods tasted SO delicious & I started craving those foods!!🙃
I love broccoli, but I can never get it to taste like a restaurant quality. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Well you’ll have to do everything I covered in this video because restaurants usually put a lot of salt and oil on their broccoli. 🤷♂️
@WellYourWorld Thanks, I guess I stopped watching too early.
Where do you stand on celtic salt? what is your opinion there?
Celtic salt is still salt
Yup. Salt is salt.
@@demesrvl6761 thank you. I was actually asking Dillon on his take. But Thanks for taking the time to answer as well.
@@WellYourWorld So you do not feel there are any benefits to celtic salt? I guess thats what I should have asked. Thank you for your quick response
First thumbs up!!!
Eat the rich food like King Henry VIII - look like him & suffer his diseases 🤣
Everything you say 💯 and i want a caveman hat
🤣 🤣
Straw hats? 🥺
3:32 food has become more plastic in America.
I cannot fast due to sluggish thyroid. 🫤
I suggest talking to doctors at True North about that if you're really interested. Some thyroid issues can actually be improved through fasting.
