AC truck! Nice. Always loved that cam. A little big in a c10 with that combo but sounds awesome for a cruiser. Throw a set of 200cc intake runner cheap NKB heads on there a 3000 stall and 4.11's and it would be a whole different animal. Nice truck.
The 292H needs a 3000+ rpm stall and a decent rear gear to run strong from a dig. A good timing curve is 15-18* initial, 36* total all the mechanical advance in by 2200 rpms. Usually using an advance curve kit, use the 2x medium springs with the factory weights, throw away those light crappy weights. JD
lot bigger heads too. 244 duration is like a cam for a single plane in a 350-383. like 195-200cc heads. then that MFr will be goin sideways all the way down the street!!
My high school combo in the late 90’s. 57 Chevy, forged 350 4b, 305h cam, 790 Barry Grant, Victor Jr, 3” spacer, 3500 stall from Neal Chance. 3.90 Detroit and 29.00x 10 Hoosiers. It was the fastest thing all four years and a few years after.
Hey bud I recently purchased a set of LED headlights and a set of blue LED bulbs for the instrument cluster for my '81 Silverado long bed that I'did a frame off restoration and almost done after 4 long years. All the time, labor and money have been worth it.

My 327 fell through and now, I'm going to be using a 350 4 bolt main, 292h bored 30 over with world product heads they should flow about 225 cfm with air gap intake. It should run pretty good!!! 😎
When I bought it from my buddy in 2017, it had sat in a field for 4 years and was trashed out. A lot of my friends wouldn't go near it back then, not they can't wait to go for a ride. Lmao
@@bowtieguy601 This morning I drove out to Outback Truck Parts in Spring and purchased a 2" cowl hood for my truck. Can't wait to get it installed and paint my truck
That thing is cold natured because the intake doesnt have a heat cross over, it makes them warm up alot faster but heats up the intake which can take away some power but it's worth the loss for a daily driver but for a hotrod it's not needed.
Sir thank you for the specs on your 292 comp can it sounds awesome my question is , will this be a hydraulic flat tappet cam or Hydraulic Roller comp can? Thanks
Hey, I've seen all your latest videos with you and Hot Rod and you working on your dad's truck but what's going on with your truck you haven't posted a video in a long time (seems like) of anything new going on with your truck.. don't get me wrong I understand you can only do what you can do and I'm quite sure by you having a family... you do a lot.. It helps me to see you working on your C-10 because I also have one and I've learned some things from you to do on my own truck 🤗
Did this truck come out of southern Missouri? This thing looks identical to one I sold 3 years or so ago. Exhaust was identical and leaked in the same spots. Wheels were identical dash was junk. Had a 78 front clip on it when it left me
What cam do you recommend I have the 98 vortec heads and the 292 comp cam with a 3500 stall. My problem is that I am having trouble getting gas in my oil. I have to change oil about every 500 miles
I have a 383 stroker with 292 cam. Runs great in park dies out when I put it in gear. Not enough vacuum I believe has stock converter could that be the issue?
@@mtwseneca I didn’t realize at the time but the cam called for upgraded heads, headers and atleast 3000rpm converter. Only thing I’m missing is the converter.
What’s up brother!! Got some questions? Look I have a 1981 K10. Original motor was a 305 I have swap that out and put a 468 big block Chevy.. having trouble with headers. Can’t find some that fit. Would you know of any??? I’ve tried a couple already spent 1300. On two pairs and have trouble fitting them. Or they are too tight. Please get back to me thanks.
You may need to find a set of shorty headers because I'm assuming that your collector is probally hitting the drive shaft. If so them you most likely need a shorty header or maybe check on some squarebody forums for some recommendations for some longtubes. Also is your big block standard or tall deck? Tall deck motors are very hard to find headers for but since you said you had a 468 which is usually an overbored 454, then it should be standard deck height.
@@briang4470 Also thanks Brain. I just kinda of gave up. And left her alone. I named her Harley Quinn black with red interior. 468 bbc ported aluminum heads, big cam, forgot the size. Just ready to get her on the road. Started off as a father and son project. Turned into something special. Again thanks brother much appreciate it..
Been following this truck repair for a while now....thanks for the info. In my opinion tho, its a REALLY nice truck....stop using a vice grips for anything on this truck! It deserves better. And if I owned it and saw that, you wouldnt be working on anything of mine any more....
Lol! I want the same exact cam but I'm going to put in a 350 crate, but the engine I'm buying has 430 out the box so I figured the 292 will be ok for it
a Holley w no choke just the Holley alone is trash and in cooler weather w no choke they are more than what you say cold hearted it's got nothing to do w the motor check it out start other vehicles w different carbs w no choke and they start and run w out all the stalling and feathering the gas pedal
I'm no carb guru but I went thru the carb, basic freshen up and tried adjusting the carb, but couldn't never get it to make a difference... even the choke didn't make no difference neither did timing.. only way it would stay running on a cold start is to idle it up but soon as it was warm ran and started perfect. I don't think I checked the transition slots to see where they were set at but what would you say the culprit would be on a carb like this?
I've had several carbs act like this one and I've had several that would start up and idle with 2 pumps after sitting for a couple months during winter time so if you have any opinions or knowledge you wanna share im always up to learn what I don't know
Good luck with anything built today lasting this long! Good old simple chevys!

Love that old school Flowmaster sound! Sweet truck! Thanks for the video!
The 40’s have more of that full low bottom end sound. Beautiful truck, great video.
That cam sound brings back memories, I ran that same cam in my nova in the early 2000’s. Sounds great!!

Exactly what I plan on doing for an s10
Except 456 gears

Definitely a nice truck.
That and old school Magnum series from comp. Very popular from the 80's-90's. Put some vortec heads, with a 3k stall and that bitch will run!
Good old school horsepower
Thanks for video brother. Hard to beat FM. Run super 44's on 85 square, 40's on my 95GT

Hydraulic flat tappet but if roller is in your budget I'd definitely go roller

Just because the motor will run with a battery cable off does not mean the alternator charging enough to charge the battery

I have a 383 stroker with 292 cam. Runs great in park dies out when I put it in gear. Not enough vacuum I believe has stock converter could that be the issue?
Sort of, people do not realize the cam dictates the converter, that lumpy cam needs to idle way higher than a stock converter can handle.

Yeah some came with 700r4 too

Nothing real big.. heavy trucks don't like big cams.. I'd prolly find something around 210ish duration and maybe .440 .450 lift or so
@@bowtieguy601 thanks going to have find one.
I put the summit 1785 in my 327. 450 lift, 274 duration, 106 lobe separation. Crane has the same cam as it is made by them. Best cam I have ever had
