now imagine you are 22 years old with 200 hours in a B-17 doing this next to 100 other B-17s for 9 hours with people shooting at you....and the 310 looks awesome
Back when Steve Hinton was flying the Red Baron in his early 70’s I was amazed at the skills he acquired at such a young age then I realized how many his age had gone off to war in those monsters at Steve’a age and even younger. Having never been in an airplane before joining the service.
As much as we all miss Jaime, John is the perfect right seat guy for this gig. Encouraging and professional, he was a great complement to your impressive flight skills, Kevin.
My first encounter with the 310 was in about 1960. I was around 5 years old and my dad, another aviation buff, took me to Lindberg Field in San Diego and a beautiful new 310 rolled up to the gate of the old passenger terminal. I was hooked. I remember thinking how fast it looked just sitting there. This was a time in our history when kids still noticed airplanes and lined their walls with pictures and models of their favorite machines. Its shares that unmistakable look like the Connie or the 747, from a mile away you know just what it is. Aircraft like the 310 are like classic cars. They burn your cash and take all your free time but if you ever sell her you'll regret it. Fly safe and thanks for the video.
Kevin, you are one hellva’ aviator and 1BC is a gem. When I was at Cessna, we used a T210 with a camera mounted in the tailcone for photo shoots. If you’ve ever seen the picture of a Conquest II flying over the twin towers in New York City, I was on that photo shoot flight. Let us know what magazine these pictures will be published in and I’ll be sure to buy one.
Wow, the shots of 1BC are just absolutely incredible!!! She's never looked better and downtown Chicago is just a perfect backdrop.. Really really well done guys.. I can't wait to see what the videos look like...
I love flying my Sim in this area. I take off from Midway, do a touch and go at O’hare and land at Meigs. Too bad Meigs is not there anymore. Great little historic airport.
Great airmanship. Beautifull footage. Added bonus aerial shots of the lakefront were millions of us desktop FS "pilots" spent many hours in our simulated flights. What a treat. Thx a lot Kevin.
Very cool. The skyline tour is my "go to" flight when I'm introducing someone to aviation. I usually fly North of PWK to get there. I've never learned how to do the "corridor", but it looks like much more fun.
Just stay below the bravo and out of the Charlie. Easiest way is to radio MDW and request the “Eisenhower transition” and they usually let you pass through the Charlie VFR at or below 2000
I used to do the same lakefront tour with every out of town visitor in my Aero Commander 500. Back then we would stop at Meigs Field for lunch. Brought back great memories. Fantastic pics. Congrats!
Wow Kev. Stunning aircraft transformations inside and out. And perhaps now with all the followers the best known 310 in existence. Been 40 years or so since my last shoreline excursion, out of Lansing. Great views of downtown and the pier. Makes me still furious to see the strip of land that used to be Meigs. And how eerie was that to fly over Midway and see it so quiet. Just impatient to see the stills and video. Hope you can post it soon.
Kevin - you did a great job flying 1BC in formation. I can understand it was stressful during the photo shoot. By those sample pictures you showed in the video. 1BC looks awesome! On another note, I just like to say thank you to you and Jaime to renew my dream of being a pilot. I have watched all your videos and look forward to the new ones. As I slowly save up for my pilots license. So thank you again and 1BC looks like she's is brand new with that paint job! Kevin - I may be an Auburn fan but Go Dawgs!!
What an experience for you, and a wonderful opportunity for flying into O'Hare for a flypast. I'm sure there will be some photo gems of the parked up planes on the aprons and taxiways. Thanks so much!
Love the old 170B. Those are cool birds to cruise around on a nice Sunday afternoon. Surprised that they let you do it for the MIdway and O'Hare traffic. But you are in the best seat for Chicago- In the Air not stuck in traffic down there. Man, I really do miss flying. Thanks for a superb show. Happy landings.
Fantastic photos and video. We love Chicago as my brother lives near the shore line. Pics of the Chicago skyline are great anytime of day! Looking forward to your upcoming adventures!
Some really nice air to air here, Kevin. I'm not sure I would have wanted to put a 310 up with a 170, maybe a Bonanza or a Saratoga, but the images came out great. It did show that you were really working hard to keep the airplane where they wanted it. "Up five!" Yeah, okay, that's precision. I couldn't imagine doing the low approach and pass over 27 at O'Hare any other time than during this pandemic, though. Lot of airplanes on the ground there. Great video, thanks for sharing this.
Honestly, this video stands up as one of the best, most fun, brilliantly shot aerial videos I have ever seen! Truly stunning! And yes, I agree with your son, the new paint job is better than a masterpiece!
Wow, I had no idea how difficult those photo flight might be. The still with Big John in the BG was fantastic and the one with Lake Point Tower even better. I have a family history with those two buildings. Thanks.
Boy I was sweating for you I think. Can see the stress in doing a flight like that. Having a veteran pilot in the right seat was a big help..even I could see that. The airplane is just beautiful. Gear up in her natural element...beautiful.
Kevin, I have finally watched all your videos, and have thoroughly enjoyed each and every one! Been fun watching the transformation of 1BC over the past couple years. Now that I'm all caught up, I can't wait for Fridays each week. Awesome job on the videos, and awesome plane! Thanks for the pleasure I get watching them and flying along. Be safe!
Thank you for the kind words and all the support Daniel!! Glad you're enjoying our channel and we'll try to keep putting out fun aviation videos each Friday. I already have several waiting for me to edit. We've been taking advantage of having 1BC back. :)

Thank you for showing....1BC looks awesome! If I see the former Meigs Field location...I want crying. This former GA airport was the "holy grail" of all flight simulator enthusiasts all over the world and the story of his Destruction isn't a honorable sheet in the book of the history Chicago's. Greets from NE Germany not far from Peenemunde and baltic sea. Happy and safe landings with this awesome plane and his nice crew. AUF WIEDERSEHEN...
I spent many years flying out of Midway. We has an Arrow and one night we were finished with our work so we drove over to the aircraft and went for some laps over downtown at 4am. Super smooth and just beautiful! Luckily for me I did land at Meigs Field before the Mayor went crazy. Landed North, I will never forget the landing.
Lot of work and a little stressful but John was a great copilot and the pics and videos turned out great. Safe travels and looking forward to more of the same with your better half.
Beautiful = Very ; Fast = not so much. :) Now that I have my tailwheel endorsement I want to try out some of these iconic taildraggers one of these days.
Great video Kevin! Really cool shots of 1BC. Man she is even more beautiful in the air. Big thanks for taking the time and effort to do this. Stay healthy.
Wow! Magnificent photo op of One Bravo Charlie! Pics are perfect. You should be very proud of a newly painted ship and pics of the Chicago skyline while in flight.
Kevin- flying formation in dissimilar aircraft has to be a bear, you did a great job. 1BC looks fantastic, beautiful paint scheme.. Only thing missing, Jaime in the right seat. Looking forward to new adventures. Be safe.
For sure would have been easier with similar speeds so I had more wiggle room on the low end. She'll be back on Friday (if I get the next video edited in time).
and in Kevin's next video, we'll be riding along while he flies with the Blue Angels, doing rivet inspections of the F-18s just above the wind screen! Super flying Kevin. You'd have been knackered after that!
Ha ha...I do love my autopilot! As Matt mentioned, the entire Bahamas trip and all the videos over a year old were me hand flying. It's fun to just hand fly sometimes but I'll never go back to no autopilot. Glad you liked the video Michael!!
Nice flight Kevin. Haven't seen the Chicago area in a long time from those views and your paint scheme on the plane is a perfect contrast against the background. Look forward to upcoming flights. Thank you. Be safe.

That flight looked like a lot more work than I ever suspected a photo shoot would be. Can't wait for the articles. It's funny, when the line guy was gassing up the airplane, I thought it was you for a minute. I thought, oh man, Kevin's not letting anyone near that paint job. Great video.
I did a shoot of my C-210 over Manhattan that was on the cover of the Cessna Pilots Association magazine back in the late 1980's. Very demanding to say the least. Nice work, great paint job..
That looked like a lot of hard work. Great job. I loved seeing the landscape of Meigs Field. Used to love that default on MS Flight Sim back in the day. Damn you Richard Daley. BC is looking awesome! Great copilot!
