@@hellacoorinna9995 I'm pretty sure that Yaz's Lupai didn't know about that or didn't care because of what they did to their fellow Lupai, Karvanista. As for every other time the Earth was in danger, the Flux was said to be something the Lupai were prepared for. Don't think one can say the same for every other time the Earth had a Dalek or Cyberman. invasion.
@@hellacoorinna9995 Apparently everytime they were probably on their way already but the Doctor solved the crisis before they could arrive. It seems that it takes a pretty long time (probably days, and the doctor sometimes only need hours to solve the problem) for Lupari to learn about the crisis and actually arrive at Earth (probably because words doesn't travel fast enough).
Kudos to the makeup team. Holds up brilliantly on camera. And Els' wonderfully annoyed, frustrated, exasperated performance is right on as well.
If the Doctor doesn't give Karvanista lots of pets and Beggin' Strips, we riot.
Jodie: "I walk on set and am greeted by a 6'2" dog man"

I love the dog samurai. The whole episode was great! Dan is fun and the Swarm dude was deliciously evil. Bring on the Sontarans.

Karvanista reminds me so much of Ka D'Argo from "Farscape", especially in the early part of the show's first season where he's blustering on about being this badass warrior before character development sets in and he mellows out some and becomes friends with Crichton. I hope we see a similar rapport develop between Karvanista and Dan. I feel like it'd be awesome.
This was really impressive visually. Like they managed to make a big alien dog man not only not look utterly ridiculous, but also make it look quite real and lifelike

Karvanista may seem somewhat fantastical as an alien character. But there is a level of realism to him which proves how nicely surprising Doctor Who can thankfully still be.
Karvanista is genuinely one of my favourite aliens ever in this entire show, he was hilarious and the concept is really interesting! Brilliant idea by Chris Chibnall and a fantastic performance by Craige Els! I hope we see more of him!!
Chris finally didn't let us down for once and managed to make something worth remembering from Jodie's era.
So, just for us to remember, Karvanista is related to the division stuff, yeah?

2:07 I have a genuine question, if they’re species-bonded with humans, why was Karvanista willing to allow Yaz to die when she’s human? I know Dan was ‘his human’, but the point still stands… doesn’t that kinda jeopardise their honour in some way? Like yeah cool, she ain’t my human so I’m gonna drop her into a lake of acid.
When I first saw Karvanista I thought 'you have got to be kidding' but within about five minutes he was already my favourite character in the episode. Genius!

What I like about Karvanista is that he reminds me of Chewbacca from Star Wars. Both look cute but are fierce warrior with the difference that Karvanista doesn´t need a translator. ^^
What if he does, though? What you're hearing from him could all be from the TARDIS universal translators. He might speak completely different.

They only come to save humanity in the ULTIMATE time of crisis, basically to the point of the universe ending - the Earth has been in danger before but it's never faced a danger quite as large as this (nor the universe for that matter)

There were cat faced aliens, it was only a matter of time when dog faced ones appeared and i love it
I think that Karvanista was a member of the doctors team at the division. When the doctor was the fugitive doctor and before she became Ruth to escape, she had a team to help her catch bad guys that mucked with the timeline I guess. If you’ve ever heard of the rooster teeth series RWBY, then you know that on that planet, teams are very important for the huntsmen/huntresses to do their job without getting torn to shreds. I think that maybe the doctor had her very own team rwby of sorts during her time at the division and she was the team leader ! And I have a strong feeling ( although I could be wrong ) that Karvanista was a member of the doctors team. He just didn’t recognize her when he trapped her and yaz because she had regenerated quite a lot since then and he probably hadn’t seen her at all in century’s maybe. I could be wrong, but I still think it would be cool if mr warrior dog man was once a member of Team Doctor...
I hope they address where the Lupari have been for all the other events the Doctor has caused/been in because that a lot of humans who died and the Lupari did NOTHING!!!

I'm not a dog person (before anyone has a go it's not I don't like them), but I think Karvanista might be one of my favourite new Who characters for a while

@@obiwankenobi687 Exactly, Chibnall has a lot of fans, it doesn't matter if he's better than Moffat or Davies or if people prefer him to them, they may not but they can still enjoy his stuff and like him and a lot of people do.
He's not my favourite showrunner but I absolutely love him and everything he's doing with the show.

@@cookieface80 Viewing figures mean nothing. Series 14 is confirmed, so low viewing figures don't matter as it definitely isn't getting cancelled anyway.
And low viewing figures aren't a mark of quality either. Something could be 10/10 and have low views and all that shows is more people missed out on it.
Cobra Kai was barely in the public consciousness on UA-cam and as soon as it was added to Netflix it was one of their most popular shows.
If you're a fan, viewing figures just aren't important. I don't care if loads of people stop watching, it's them that's missing out, it's them who get to enjoy less of a show they like. Chibnall Era fans aren't hurt by you not watching, it's no skin off our back. We still get to enjoy the entire show while you hound people in comment sections four years after allegedly not watching the show because it's so woke and Doctor Who was never political before now etc.
I agree he's excellent. He writes women in the most respectful and honest way and even though I have a BA degree I have learned history that I was never taught.

A Karvanista ..oh! wouldn't it be great to have one of these for christmas there so cuddly looking and cute. By all means I wish it was a new companion amongst the new humans. I loved the Cats during the 10th doctor era this has got to be completely hilarious but am loving it. pls bring the doggie race back one day make it a traveling companion.
