- Trader Joe's didn't release too many new items this week, so my husband and I decided to include some classic, some seasonal and some personal choices of food in the taste test.

One of my favorite uses of TJs ingredients is: Add a bag of Chimichurri Rice to a carton of the Roasted Red Pepper/Tomato Soup, then add a few handfuls of Baby Spinach at the end of heating!
I love walking my dog, in all kinds of weather! She’s so excited for it every day!
I am a tea drinker and I agree with Tim; the lemon scones would be great with a cup of tea! That was my first thought when you opened the package!
My favorite spring activity is going to a pre-season baseball game. I live in Arizona where a lot of the teams play out here, and I live in one of the cities where we have two major league teams that play at a stadium. In fact, I went to a game today where the Arizona Diamondbacks played the Texas Rangers, and the D-Backs won! It was so fun! Our stadium, in Surprise, hosts the Texas Rangers and the Kansas City Royals.
I love to watch Basketball and Baseball.Im' 68, so I don't play anymore but I played Baseball into my mid 50's and went to Junior College on a Basketball Schlorship. We are hard core Husky, Mariner and Seahawk fans and were heartbroken when we lost the Sonics.I still play 2 pool leagues and 2 tournaments a week and I love the game but I enjoy watching the physicality of Baseball and the strategy the most.Probably my favorite sport and so I would have to say that's my favorite part of Spring.Side note, the 4 Women on my Women's, Scotch Doubles and Mixed Doubles teams are between 58, and 73 years old.We are still winning County Championships and money tournaments. There is a sport out there for people of any age ! I think the Irish cheddar cheese with Irish Whiskey is my favorite I have tasted over the last few years.I don't drink alcohol but the Whiskey taste is so subtle that it enhances the cheese perfectly.
I add a can of pinto or black beans to the chimichurri rice to add protein and make it a complete meal. Serve with diced tomatoes, shredded cheese and avocados and cilantro
That sounds so good!
Yum great idea!
Outdoor concerts are so flipping fun & I’m also a water sign so just being on the beach of Lake Erie makes me happy lol
I agree with Katie that Spindrift sparkling beverage is utterly delicious - I was bona fide ADDICTED to Spindrift and for about six months straight I was ordering it by the CASE on Amazon and I would go through the 24 can case in less than a week. Seriously! It was getting out of control......Spindrift is super duper healthy BUT I added up what I was spending on Spindrift By the Case on Amazon and it was around $60 a month - after six months I went "Cold Turkey" and haven't had a can since. I started taking a whole pink grapefruit and squeezing out all the juice into purified water that was chilled. It was considerably LESS expensive than buying Spindrift By The Case on Amazon - plus whole fresh pink grapefruit is super healthy with lots of antioxidants and prevents cancer.
Katie, I love your makeup . The eyeshadows look so nice and the shimmer. Could you please do a makeup video or a get ready with me and chat with us about a topic? ❤
Yes I love to do those types of videos!
I love to walk. It really doesn't matter the time of year. I work a couple of blocks from the Hudson river in NYC. There is a great path that runs along it and I love to walk down there during my lunch break it makes the afternoon go so much faster.
Hey neighbor, we walk the same trail 😂
I love to be outside and favorite activity is hiking!
Not an outdoorsy gal, but like sitting on my deck with a glass of wine or beer and a good book.
That sounds like a perfect outdoor activity to me too 😀
Love spring for baseball! Either grandkids or Padres!
Thought the scones were definitely on the dry side, however, love those pretzels! My favorite!
We, my daughter and I, love to do 5k, and 10k runs. The French Valley one this year was a lot of fun. We got to see a zebra in the paddock.
I made a grilled cheese sandwich with the Irish cheddar, Irish butter and soda bread...yum!
Favorite Spring activity is drinking wine in the evening on our deck underneath our beautiful cherry tree. 🍷🌸
Aawww come on Tim, you’d look like you been kissing your beautiful wife, not wearing lipstick. I love walking when it’s nice, so just walking around the nicer weather.
My favorite place Is Belle Isle in Michigan it’s by the water is so serene and peaceful
If you guys can fold a burrito, I highly recommend making & freezing them. It's my go-to use for leftover chili or taco filling, along w/rice & cheese. Try the Chimichurri Rice, a can of refried or black beans, and as much shredded cheese as you please.
Another use for the Spicy Buffalo Cheddar would be in a Buffalo chicken/less dip, or spread. Just skip the hot sauce .
We make burritos all the time. It’s just a part of our job to review food from Trader Joe’s and lately it’s been fun revisiting our old favorites. Love the suggestions you made!
My favorite outdoor activity is walking, I have a treadmill on the inside, and I would rather be walking outside enjoying nature.
❤WALKING for mind/body (while listening to podcasts).😎👟💪🏼🎧🎼
Thanks for sharing your responses to these delicious-looking foods. Oh, I think the lemon scones and the pancake bread are calling my name. Thanks, also, Katie for the tip about Grape flavored Spindrift. Thanks, Tim, for putting the rice and burrito together.
Favorite outside activity? Walking and taking pictures.of my surroundings. Thanks for asking.
I’m a water sign too and I love beach walks and will find a nice rock to sit on, in Malibu Point Dume, and take in the sound of the waves crashing…or, do down to Encinitas Swami’s and watch the surfers. The ocean centers me.
Yes!! I feel all of this!
I love being by the water; fortunately I live on it 🌊 🌞 Sitting by it with some wine 🍷, reading, walking are all great during the spring months. Not so much when it gets overly hot.
Near water relaxing or a nice walk in the sunshine
Gardening!!!! Just love being in the dirt, sunshine and the hunt for different flowers for my gardens
I love water activity too!
Great video & always so enjoyable & fun.
Thank you for your time and effort❤️love love
Thank You Tim & Katie & have a great weekend🌿🌷🍀
I love your pull-over! So adorable, and it looks so soft and cozy! I love the pancake bread! Thanks for all that you do! I enjoy swimming, going for walks, and relaxing ouside.
My favorite outdoor activity is definitely gardening! I love being able to grow my own food as well as pretty flowers. I feel so much more grounded anytime I'm in the garden.
Summer concerts in the park. Good vibes and nice weather.
Years ago T.J. was sampling the chimichuri rice with cashews, cilantro, raisins, chicken, and the curry simmer sauce. Really good, I still make it!
Is that a spicy dish?
Not at all. I sauté seasoned chicken chunks first then add some simmer sauce and let the chicken cook through. Then add the rice and raisins, cook. then add the cilantro and cashews and serve.@@sandragreenberg6010
Favorite outdoor activity is walking the neighborhood or hiking in nature. Love visiting the beach and exploring local gardens.
Lemon scones have my name on them. It was too hot in South Florida most of the time to really do anything outside other than sit by the pool which I enjoyed. Now in North Carolina what I like to do outside at my sister‘s house is sit around the bonfire at night. Bonfires in Fort Lauderdale were not something you ever saw so I’ve been enjoying that and of course you roast marshmallows too
I love gardening in my flowers, walking and hanging at the pool! Happy Spring!!! Soon spring should
Show up in NY!! I hope!! 😂😊
I love swimming in the summer! Also the cookies and cream pretzels came out last year around this time!! I’ve been eagerly awaiting their return!
I loved the variety of this taste test:) Happy St Patrick’s Day🍀
Hiking, biking and kayaking! 🥰
Riding my horse! Breezy days at this time in Florida before the humidity gets us! Rollerblading too
Gardening 100% I love cleaning up the yard, planting flowers, and enjoying being outdoors.
Smell is a huge part of taste! I do the same thing Tim. 😊
I love walking around at festivals and farmers markets-we have a lot of these starting in spring in Northern Nevada
Listening to music at the beach while watching the waves
Very relaxing!
I love the Colomb coffees!
These taste tests are so helpful. I passed up the scones yesterday cause I thought "dry" but now I want to go back and get them!
Favorite outdoor activity. Walking!!
I enjoy water activities too, especially taking my grandkids to the pool.
It's the best way to beat the Texas heat. If I visit my sister in Santa Monica, I love walking on the shoreline/beach.
Great video guys - I love TJs scones and for sure will go get some! My favorite outdoor activity is walking - I take a 3-4 mile walk every morning and it just calms me and boosts my mood at the same time - keeps my 59 year old body trim too lol!
I didn't know there was grape spindrift!!😮❤
Happy Saturday Katie and Tim!😊 A lot of great items today. I really would like to try the Lemon Scones. The pretzels look good too! Pancake bread too! Looks so good! Have a good rest of your weekend!😊❤ The question of the week....My favorite activity is going to the beach walking it and collecting seashells. However I don't live by the beach right now so I like to sit on the porch and read.
I am always looking forward to your videos. ❤️
Loved the taste test and your personalities! My favourite outdoor activity is scuba diving! The most peaceful place is being under the ocean :)
My outdoor activity is usually gardening, but after preparing all year and collecting seeds and planters, I have no motivation to do it. I love sitting directly on my brick, front stoop, and getting sun while reading and watching the trees bloom and the bunnies that show up every year.
Eric would looove the scones,
I like to walk the trail to Whatcom Falls - beautiful!🌲🌳 That and weeding lol.
My is gardening and working in the soil! My happy place ❤
Great taste test Tim & Katie; thank you! We made a mac & cheese with the TJs Organic Italian Cascatelli pasta and the Spicy Buffalo Cheddar - devilishly delicious! 🔥
Omg great idea!!!!
Going to the dog park is always enjoyable. And tomorrow is supposed to be in the 70's (in Napa Valley), so I'll be at the pool for the first time this year.
Trail Walking. It is relaxing and nature is healing.
I bought the lemon scones and some lemon curd to spread on them. I think it will pump up the lemon flavor 🍋💯!
Vegetable Gardening and hiking with my dogs .
I like your top, Katie!
I picked up that disinfectant spray today. I know you said it was strong, but I guess I had to find out for myself. To me, it's way too strong. I don't detect a citrus smell, because I'd be able to live with that. I don't even know what word I'd use to describe the smell. I used it hours ago on my kitchen counter and I'm upstairs and can still smell it! I'm pretty sure I'm going to return it because it's too overpowering for me. I usually use the Lysol citrus disinfectant cleaner and that has a much better scent.
Thanks for the taste test! My favorite thing is to go to farmer’s markets and art fairs. I have to take in the beautiful weather before it is 115 in a few months! 🌞🔥
Love Farmers markets as well!
Great taste test, you two! I wasn't planning to get the cookies and cream pretzels but now I have to try them. My favorite outdoor activity is walking, esp. walking near water
Love walking near water. It’s calming
Happy Anniversary to your parents.
My favorite outdoor activity is probably walking and exploring cities, farmer's markets, festivals, etc. Now, I'm off to explore Trader Joe's. Those lemon scones are calling my name.
I would love to see you expand into other stores, especially when TJ’s doesn’t have a lot of new products. Honestly, my favorite videos lately have been Aldi and Costco. Would love to see you go to Farmer’s Market, Sprouts, or any other store (even if it’s not food) like Target or TJ Maxx. Variety is the spice of life!
Costco & TJ would be enough & enjoyable for meh🌸💫🌼
Or an Asian Market, I was able to get frozen Kimbap at H-Mart and they have lots of fun things to try
@@irener1111If your H-Mart has fresh kimbap, I highly recommend it. The one I go to does, and it’s delicious!
@@tammybozza4703 it does and I have gotten it but it’s fun to have the frozen one for when the mood strikes. I also have a freezer full of dumplings, mandu and noodles!
@@irener1111Yum!!!
Mine is playing fetch, frisbee with my 2 dogs( Walter & Odie)❤😊
The cookies & cream pretzels aren’t new, not at my TJs anyway. I think they were new last year. I tried them for the first time last year around this time. They are absolutely delicious though!! Thanks for another video Katie🫶🏼
I always trust your recommendations. Heading to TJ early this week. I always love sitting down at the beach because it’s so quiet. Unfortunately I have a bad heart and lungs and severe anemia so I’m not allowed to exert myself. I’m going to try a planter garden on my back balcony. Wish me luck 🍀
Good luck! Sorry you are going through some health issues. Hopefully you can get to the beach soon!
I love taking my dog to the dog park. It’s an off leash Park it’s so much fun! ♥️🐾♥️
I bought 2 packages of the scones today. Your taste tests are so fun. A couple of times I’ve put TJ’s corn salsa on the bean and cheese burritos, not too bad. I love to try new adventures. Sometimes I go hiking and this year I plan to ride a camel. I’m sure you are having a wonderful day celebrating your parents anniversary 😊
Ride a camel! So fun. We went tent camping during a couple summers ago. Full transparency: it was aweful.
The camel rides are about 1/2 hour away from the city. Ugh, camping is not my forte. My idea of roughing it is a hotel without room service 😊
Need a cup of tea with the scone!
Indeed!
One time you had remarked to me that you worked at Trader Joe’s for 9 years. I worked there for 18
i've been looking for that grape Spindrift. I don't want to invest in a case w/o tryin a can first!
I really enjoy these reviews of Trader Joe's products. Could you leave the package on camera just a bit longer? Thanks so much!
You can screenshot. That’s what I do 😊
I didn't know there was a Spindrift grape flavor! I will definitely be trying that!
My favorite outdoor activity now that the weather is warming up is to go for a walk that ends at the park near my apartment. I stop at my local cafe for a drink, then find a sunny bench and read.
Definitely look for the grape flavor! It’s so good!
Love your outdoor activity. Stress relieving vibes.
I watch your videos while I put away my TJs groceries 😂. But I do remember things for the next trip to the store.
I’m with Tim in the Chimichurri rice! The Spanish one is so bland compared to this. Flavorful food for the win 🏆
E bike riding with hubby. We ride all summer and fall. 😀
I just bought the Pancake Bread yesterday because I love it, and I was wondering if you'd ever have it in a taste test and then you mentioned it!!!!! It's also great heated in the microwave. I love your black and white top. Where did you get it?
Katie, your sweater is so cute!
Thank you 😊
Yes, looks so comfy cute 🤍🖤
I am with Katie, anything by the water
Happy 50th Anniversary to your parents❤🥳🎉🎊🎉🍾🥂
Hahaha could tell by tim’s first bite that the scones were dry lol!
I feel like the scones are a lemon glazed biscuit texture! Yum!!!
Yes, very accurate description.
Far more dense than biscuits
@@sandragreenberg6010 yes, I can see that. However, my mom made some pretty dense Bisquick biscuits that reminded me of these!! 😂
Walking dog and gardening ❤
Is it pop & bottle that you used to drink? They have oat milk lattes in a can.
Katie have you tried the Lime & Mint Spindrift? I saw it on my way out of Target so I haven’t gotten it yet but that sounds so good! I am a big Spindrift fan too!
I have not tried that one before. I have had the opportunity but never tried as interested. I may try it now just because I’m curious…
@@KatieHespe let me know and I will let you know if I try it soon!
I just like being able to sit outside and watch the birds and butterflies before the summer heat arrives and the mosquitos arrive!
Ugh the mosquitos ruin all outdoor activities!
@@KatieHespe I know I live not that far from you in Poway.
“Still no clue” lolol
I know they had those pretzel slims near this time last year.
You’re the only people that I’ve ever seen eating scones dry like that. At a minimum, they’re eaten with butter (split it in two through the middle, so you get two circular pieces, and butter each). When you want to go all out, top each half with an appropriate preserve. Lemon curd would go well with these, and some cream to finish it off. My preference is to heat the scones a bit before dressing them, but others prefer them at room temperature. I’m a big fan of the traditional English Afternoon Tea, of which scones are an essential component, so I’ve eaten many variations of them - but never dry like that! You’re missing the true pleasure of eating scones😮
It’s just for the taste test. Adding things to the food defeats the purpose of truly getting a taste for it. I personally enjoyed it plain and will not add butter.
Well, I see it as like the burrito. Initially Tim was eating it plain and you added the pico to yours. Then you added the rice, which brought it to another level, so Tim tried that too, and loved it. Plain is good enough, but it could be so much better on many levels😋.
looks like the cat is destroying ur counter stools, lol. bike riding!
My favorite activity is swimming 🏊♂️ at the civic center laps or swimming at home with Naughty Nora, our lab, or Josie, our Jack Russell . Or Kayaking in Balboa Island.
We used to love kayaking on the back bay in Newport Beach.
You two together is everything I thought would be and more🎉🎉🎉such pure joy and adorable and naturally
Have A Great 50 Anniversary Dinner🫵🎁🫵
How about chicken nachos with the buffalo cheese.
Yum 😋
I love your sweatshirt if it’s new, can you tell us where you got it from? 😊
My mother in law got it for me but I think she got it at Nordstrom.
@@KatieHespe Thanks! So cute!
@@KatieHespeyes!!! I work for Nordstrom!! ❤
