A building stacked to the gills with pedals and what do I do? I film a few weird guitars that I found laying around.

The JHS Bilt is such a freaking frakenstein's monster of a guitar I love it so much. In some ways it captures the 60's space age futurism aesthetic like nothing else. I feel like it belongs in the back of a 50's style Cadillac with big tail fins but it's a hovercar.
Sean Lennon plays some wild Bilt guitars w Les Claypool.
The modular effects idea on the Electra is either the height of genius or sheer madness
I'd argue that those aren't mutually exclusive
I know a guy that modifies those modules. I had him mod a bunch for my Electra Outlaw Bass (Undeniably the Platypus of Bass Guitars!!!)
I love these JHS x 60 Cycle Hum videos. Should become a yearly trend, next year Josh visits Ryan and goes in depth about his pedal collection!
we are planning on more, no hard dates yet. I only have one more video to publish from this session unfortunately.
@@60CycleHumcast sucks there’s only one more but I’ve loved them, looked like you all had a blast recording them!
This is a great idea.
Sorry to be off topic but does anybody know of a tool to log back into an instagram account?
I somehow lost my login password. I would love any help you can give me!
@Dawson Crosby Thanks so much for your reply. I got to the site thru google and im in the hacking process now.
Seems to take quite some time so I will get back to you later with my results.
Josh's Bilt confirms the idea I am having about putting 2 JM pickups and a Lipstick centre on a Strat.
@12:40 - There was a Music Store in Gastonia NC sold the Electra guitars with the interchangeable Modules.
I'm a big fan of Teiscos! I have several--including a Spectrum 5. I'd love to have that one!
That white guitar is a nerd delight! So over the top complicated! I love it. You guys are awesome. Keep them coming!
YOU, Ryan, need a signature Bilt Revelator.
maybe someday. For now i have bills to pay lol.
I like the thinking of whoever designed that first guitar. If you're going to have 4 pickups in your guitar, they should 100% all be completely different.
That Teisco is gorgeous though. I have one from the era and I use the tremolo all the time, sometimes just hitting it with my fist with a Muff turned up to get some really fun sounds...
The Tiesco gets my vote for miss congeniality, what a great contestant she was.
Wow great vid Ryan , and now you have sold me on the Pink Panther lick/song - I have to learn that today !!! Well I'll at least give it A Shot In The Dark
It’s a fun one. We used to do a cover of it in my surf band
I actually have one of those Teiscos. The model is a Teisco Del Ray EP-8T and I'm fairly certain the one I have was made in 1969. One of my local music shops had a pile of project guitars/parts for people to pick through one day and I found it near the bottom mostly intact with the pickups switched out for Spectrums. Needs some wiring work and other small adjustments but my goal is to use it for embellishment layers next time I'm in the studio to really get that hipster cred. Its fun to have and play around with but yeah, it would never survive a gig.
These guitars gig great. You would really have to give it a smash like any other for it to "not survive".
New modules is just what my Electra MPC is missing. I have an original modulation and drive (maybe phaser and fuzz, but it's been so long and they're in storage), but wish I could get more that don't cost me as much as I bought that Electra for.
thank fuck. I've been needing someone to talk about this Bilt guitar.
Love it, should total be an available item.
Omg I was always wondering about that beautiful white and red guitar 🔥💜😈
Lovin' that amphetmine abled Elektra!!
I would love to buy that Teisco
I love how amplike that transparent overdrive sounds! Too bad it's not true bypass...
Man, Ryan...
You'd make a great sub for Los Straitjackets! Have mask, will travel!!!
Weird guitars ... dude, you soooo... fit right in!
Holy crap, I LOVE the tune time overlay! That is AWESOME! Who designed that 😂😂😂
I did. Im a better graphic designer/illustrator than guitarist, lol.
@@60CycleHumcast nah brother, love your channel AND your playing 👍🏻
The bilt guitars look very cool
I want that teisco!!
I love it when the JHS guy (Josh) jams on his channel. Totally Great stuff. Great drummer too. But man, that amp is not cheap! (unlike the pedals with the same aesthetic)
Doesn’t it say reLeVator on the headstock of the Bilt? Not Revelator.
No Ryan in Pedals: The Musical? Maybe in chapter 2?
maybe, i wasn't there when they were filming chapter 1
That internal fuzz on that lp copy is the best one knob I’ve ever heard
I'm curious what kind of fuzz / circuit it is.
i think there were soviet guitars that came with a built in fuzz, quite cool (im not 100% sure tho)
@@jel8113 i know that some soviet could control the amps inbuilt effects over a 5 pin cable
When will there be a 60 Cycle Hum JHS fuzz pedal?
You can buy it. (The Relevator) Just ask Bilt. They'll do whatever you want.
Maaaaaan that relevator inspired me to get one myself, buuuuut that price tag. Definitely worth it tho. One day.
Rare is the man who ever turned down a hairy muff or fuzz in his life!
Seriously what fuzz is in that Electra? It was nuts!
i enjoyed the replay
So how much is the teisco?
What’s the black block behind the bridge?
Looks like a block of foam just to quiet it down. A lot of folks do the same thing behind the nut.
12:26 - "This one doesn't look too weird..." Yes it does. It looks very weird, what is that? Please play that.
I want that bilt guitar.
Electra with hidden effects ... very tasty. And nuts.
That Bilt is incredible. You should have made a break with it.
R: Hey Josh! What the heck is that behind you?
J: (looking behind him) I don’t see anything.
R: (running out the door with the Bilt) my mistake. Later dude!
I’m thinking the Bilt should’ve been built with a tele bridge and a bigsby system...THEN it would be the ultimate pedal demo guitar. There’s just nothing quite like a tele bridge.
That Teisco sounds sooo nasty
That Bilt alone managed to get my gf interested in playing guitar.
Awesome
does the Electra use batteries?
I'll buy the teisco send me a link
What is a shame flute?
a medieval punishment device for bad musicians.
I'll have the teisco please!
hit up JHS, sounds like they want to sell it.
jesus i would buy that teisco in an instnt
That baby is a total Marauder clone
Teisco was the coolest
It hurt me to look up how much Bilt guitars cost.
They cost less than I assumed but still way outside my budget.
@@60CycleHumcast Sean Lennon plays one with the Lennon Claypool Delerium
Some drive pedal… hahaha klon crying
Oh yeeeah...
I can’t believe fancy guitar makers are still doing this. IF YOU WANT YOUR HUMBUCKER TO HAVE USEFUL OPTIONS, MAKE IT SERIES/PARALLEL, NOT COIL SPLIT. A coil split humbucker does NOT have single coil tone.
I will own a Harmony guitar at some point. I don't know if that gets you some sort of promotional-financial ad credit, or gives you some insider futures trading edge, but for what it's worth, it is what it is. I'm good for it. Eventually.
Well...I continue to look at Teisco guitars and think...this will be the one I actually buy.
Then I think nah it's gonna play like sh!te. A bit like paying overs for a wooden tennis racquet, although it would look far cooler hanging on a wall.
Really there are two options -
A) look locally in pawn shops, online adverts and music shops that sell second hand guitars and find something you like the feel of, or
B) Go on ebay, take a chance and buy something for likely considerably cheaper, with the understanding that you may have to sell it on, or you may need to spend the money you saved to bring it up to scratch.
Jack White, who made the red plastic Airline guitar world famous, said he enjoys the struggle with old gear, as it gives some resistance, something to push against, and a kind of tension that comes through in the playing and eventually the sound. I agree - I bought a 70s hollowbody guitar with fairly high action and microphonic pickups as my first guitar, and I developed a personality in my playing based on playing around those "defects" and even making them sound good. It also made me a beter player when I did pick up a low action Tele later on
It depends if you like vintage guitar sound, how much you enjoy wrestling with a guitar for a good sound, and if you are prepared to spend a bit getting it in good playable shape, as to whether you should do it. I personally love 'em.
ryan go one video without playing misirlou challenge
Please no!!
Are you crashing on Josh’s couch? He just let anybody rummage through his stuff to make youtube vids? Are you hiding in the closet at JHS and sneak out at night to make videos?
he makes me sleep in on a pile of pedal boxes.
Why is there subtitles when deaf people are pretty unlikely to watch a guitar review video?
you can turn them off if you dont like them, some people like to read whats being said, though the auto generated subtitles can give some hilarious results. Also all that meta data helps the videos analytics. so theres that.
@@60CycleHumcast haha my comment was meant to be a little tongue in cheek but I don't know if it translated. Really cool video though!
27 minutes, loves guitars and shows only 3. No mention how the ‘les paul’ effects work (with batteries I guess?). I’m gonna unfollow. The inbreed videos are becoming a bit too much. A bit too much Josh lately (love his solo video’s where he talks about history). What’s next Rick Beato?
I may have missed it, but have you ever discussed LGBTQ rights with the JHS guys? I know that he's spouted some "all rights matter" line, but hasn't ever, as far as I'm aware, specifically endorsed LGBTQ rights? If not, do you support this "all rights matter" line? Have you ever had a discussion about the use of licensed circuit layouts in violation of the license terms?
Does this matter to you or is good tone, good kickbacks, and a good laugh worth overlooking a few minor issues?
Did you really come here expecting me to dish out some hot gossip? Lol
@@60CycleHumcast Nope. I came here hoping to hear that you support LGBTQ rights even if your benefactor doesn't. You have answered the guestion about where you stand on the issue: All rights matter (because LGBTQ ones dont').
@@e.henrythripshaw4554 jhs is not my “benefactor” lol. I fully support lgbtq rights and if you go take a look around our social media communities (Facebook & discord notably) you will see that we are very supportive of the diversity in our community. As far as Josh goes, I’ve known him for 7+ years now and seen him enthusiastically working, associating and socializing with folks that certainly fit under the lgbtq umbrella. The Josh I know is actually fairly progressive.
@@60CycleHumcast If that's the case, I would have expected to be able to find a nice, straightforward statement from Josh Scott saying "I support LGBTQ rights", but I haven't been able to find one (and, yes, I have looked). What I _have_ found is a variety of "I support human rights" statements said as if anti-human discrimination and persecution is an issue.
@@e.henrythripshaw4554 go talk to him about it then, I went there to make guitar content.
