Interesting. I am always starting the sit spin by squating first and then going up. Not up and down . Both could be possible never tried that way. For the camel spin, it is easier if you start from parallel or twizzle, and the difference compared with ice is to use the heels this time. Lovely video. Good manly exemple of inline figure skating .

Wow this is interesting I used to roller skate (with quads) and never thought you could do similar moves with inline skates. I might look into getting some inline frames as it looks easier (and safer) to skate outside. Great vid!
Will he watching your videos a lot I just ordered some skates to learn thus summer I'm gonna teach myself spins. Already know how to do cross over and eagle stop from childhood but always wanted to spin and learn to skate backwards and become fluid that is my goal this summer
I have been in line skating since I was four, but I can’t do that. I can do bubbles and jumps and a few other smaller tricks but I can most definitely not do that.
Vow, what a wonderful demo! One problem with spinning on roller skate is if spinning on the tip of skate is comfortable ?looking very tied, but have impulse to try
I absolutey do not understand how to spin more than once. I'm still a beginner but on ice one-foot spins aren't a problem while as soon as my toe stop hits the pavement I lose so much speed that I can't do more than one or two spins. I tried balancing on the front wheel and that helps a bit but most skaters seem to be able to spin with the toe stop on the ground. Is there a trick to it or do I just have to keep practicing and go into the spin with more power?
Thank you so much for your comment, please find me on Instagram or Facebook @theskatingduo send me a message and I can go into for detail with you. Have a good day.
Hey! Loved the well explained tutorial! I wanted to know what inline skating shoes and wheels you used. I'm a beginner and I've been trying to get new ones. ☺️
Do you have more lessons anywhere for off ice /in-line figure skates? I like how you explain what needs to happen and not happen? Where I live there is nowhere to learn inline figure skating locally, so if I want to learn on in-line skates I’m reliant on UA-cam etc….
Thank you sir for such a beautiful explanation. If you are a beginner in inline figure skating, should you get 3 tire or 4 tire inline skates? I have been doing speed inline skating for 3 yrs.
Hello :) do you have any recommendations on what wheels I should get (brand and hardness) for rougher surfaces, I don’t want to have to keep driving to my park to skate, but the wheels I have now (86a 72mm on rollline linea frames) cause my teeth to chatter skating on asphalt, it’s a very rocky, unsmooth ride to my park that’s 15 min away. The sidewalk has a lot of cracks and debris so skating on the road is ideal. Thank you again for your informative and inspiring videos!
Love this!! What are the best brands/types of inline skates for doing spins? I have a pair of Swell brand inline skates that have 3 wheels, and the wheels are large. Are the quads with smaller wheels you're using better for spins? And what brand are your skates? Thanks!!!
hey there. that really helped loved the tutorial. I was just wondering, do you think as a beginner i should practise to be able to do it both ways. or is knowing how to do one foot spin on one side good enough?
awesome video! i am wanting to get roller blades or skates and have a preference towards quad style skates, but i definitely want to skate in figure skating style. would i be able to achieve this with quads or inlines are the best way to go? i want to be able to still do all of these spins; will quads allow me to do this? thank you!
I am starting at Level 0 at learning how to inline skate. It looks fun and I want to find fun hobbies so I can go outside more and be more active. I found rollerskating fun but now im stumped between these shoes and the regular ones with 4 wheels and back stops. Can anyone give me advice on which is better to start with? Ultimately, I want to learn how to skate and do fun tricks, and dance.
the Pigskates are dangerous for urban skating. These rubber stoppers really take some getting used to. Switching from normal skates to these is difficult.
Hey coach, do you think spins are too different on inline compared to ice skates? I've been trying to land some spins with my inlines but the form is too different IMO, and trying to practice inline to spin properly on ice skates feels really weird.
Hello! I have a huge problem, which is that I do not have figure inlines. I have sporty ones and a '' stopper'' is on the back of the right one. What kind of spins will be the best for them? Ps. Your inline skating is amazing!
Thanks Adam for the great video. May I know what’s the brand of your skating shoes? I notice there are rubbers on the tip of the blade, that must be critical when spinning on one foot. Thank you!
I am considering buying some in-line figure skates as it is really difficult to get to my local ice rink at the moment due to work commitments. So I have two questions about in-line figure skating I was hoping you could answer: 1. how much harder is it, really, to spin on inline figure skates compared to spinning on ice? (ideally if you can give me a percentage or rating ie if ice was 1/10 difficulty the same thing on in-line skates would be ?/10 difficulty? (I keep seeing people who are clearly very good skaters who don’t seem to be able to do anything very fast or beyond basic in terms of spins on in-line skates…..so am I correct in assuming it is waaay harder to spin on these (regardless of brand) than to spin on ice skates on ice? 2. Have you used yours on different types of concrete and if so how much difference does it make if the concrete is rougher (ie the grey stuff they make outdoor tennis courts out of) vs the smooth concrete slabs you appear to be on. By difference I mean both in terms of how long the wheels last, and also if your wheels are worn, does that affect their ‘edges’ and performance, the same way a blunt edge affects ice skates? If anyone else reading this comment has some experience with in line figure skates vs ice figure skates, I’d also love to hear your experiences
Actually looking further into your video I am feeling like maybe you just have to do everything much ‘better’ on off ice skates? Ie you have to be in the correct edge for the back spin, when you can get away with being on the wrong edge on ice, u have to be on the correct edge on the inline skates to have any chance at doing the spin (or jump or whatever)? (Which would be a great way to improve technique for good skaters, and a great way to suck all the fun out of it for terrible skaters like me lol)
Your explanations are great, thank you for sharing! I rotate on the right leg, clockwise, but I seem to prefer letting my weight on my left foot, rear wheel. How can I balance that in rotation so I can lift that left leg?
Hey, I've been watching loads of online figure skates videos to try and figure out which ones I want to buy. I haven't been able to find anything on 3 v 4 wheels, do you have an opinion on this? Ive used both, now only use three as its what most use and also all competitive skaters use, the best is GH Avant with an adjustable wheel, link in my caption to save on a Pair too
But you do forward spins on the outside edge? On ice, I've learned that you enter with an outside edge, but then you shift on the inside and on the rocker.
Thank you so much for the video! I bought normal inline skates three months ago! But apparently I got more obsessed with the figure skating than endurance skating. I'm wondering if I can learn those spins on normal inline skates as well, or do I really need the toe stop to do these spins?
hey, a question here if the toe stop is too sticky can it keep me from doing spins, because i feel like the toe stop on my Jackson mirage frame is just waaaaay too sticky, as soon as it touches the ground it's just glued, it wont budge, it has no drag at all, so i'm thinking about getting the STD Super Professional one
If I feel more confident doing the sit spin on my other leg is it right way? Or is it mistake? I'm always wondering if there's any rule contain which leg we should use doing the spins in figure skating
What kind of skates would I use for this? I have hockey skates and just some basic rollerblades. Is there an add on I can buy to add a stopper in the front of one of those or should I buy a whole new pair.

I am considering buying some in-line figure skates as it is really difficult to get to my local ice rink at the moment due to work commitments.
So I have two questions about in-line figure skating I was hoping you could answer:
1. how much harder is it, really, to spin on inline figure skates compared to spinning on ice? (ideally if you can give me a percentage or rating ie if ice was 1/10 difficulty the same thing on in-line skates would be ?/10 difficulty?
