It’s been years but I just wanted to say your the best dad
You ever just get on a computer and be so happy with it that you get to play your own games, and when you get so angry you give it one good punch and the screen cracks? Your heart stops and you begin panicking because this is either the first or second time you've done this. You feel relieved to when you see people have made videos on how to fix the screen but then once again lose all hope when you realize you have to buy a new screen.
((As you can tell this happened to me and this is my 2nd time breaking something, This sucks ass, thank you for the video though.))

Where do you find a list of part numbers, I have a Dell Monitor with a cracked screen that I need to fix.
I found mine on the HP website, I put in my model and searched there parts list in the manual, I would think Dell would have something similar.

*quick update* i was able to fix my screen but i saw a video from screen surgeons. They have their own youtube video tutorials and a website where you can get the screen you need. They also send a tool kit with the screen and have customer service if anything. I highly recommend them 😄😄😄

I had an HP Pavilion DV5000 that I replaced the screen on about 5 years ago, and it worked ok, but it wasn't as simple as this repair, the keyboard had to be removed and the lid had to come completely off to replace the screen.

A few weeks ago i accidentally sat to my laptop and shatter the whole LCD. Even tho i have repaired a lot of laptops and eventually disassembling them, i have never once fixed a laptop LCD screen because i don't know how to open it up :p

Hello, I just watched your video and you were lucky not to damage the new panel. The proper way is to disassemble the lcd assembly first from laptop, remove bezel, then remove bracket from laptop back, the bracket from lcd. The camera does not need removal. You could damaged it as well as flat cable. The return of the bezel should of been done when assembly is laying flat on table.

How much was the new screen? I have seen different prices from $70-100+. My corners won’t release either. I have clamps on mine that have been popped and I still can’t get it off. If mine has two screws on the corners, they aren’t visible. There are circles but nothing that pops off.
I paid $50, but that was in 2015. I looked on Amazon and it's $62, now. For the corners, I would look your model up on the manufacturer's website and see if they have a diagram on how to remove the bezel. Or try searching your model on Google or Yahoo to see if there are other videos that can help.

do all laptops use the same connectors for the screens? or are they all unique to the bran of laptop?
I don't know if they all have the same connector, this one was a 40 pin and another 40 pin connector should plug into it. The difference is probably the location and length of the flat ribbon cable and if it will reach the connection on the board and if the screen will fit in the Lid/Bezel.

I bought mine on Amazon for $50. Be sure you have the right part number for your screen, usually it can be found on the Brands website for your model.

If you have a different display, you can always look on the back of the laptop (usually under the battery when you take it out; the small print will tell you the model) and look up the screen replacement on amazon for that model.
