A tale truly well told. Just one thing, Corellon recognized Eilistraee's innocence, but she went anyway because she had seen glimpses of a future in which the drow would need her, so she chose to share the exile to be there for them.
We had a much longer script for this, originally told from an Eillistraee cleric that contained this factoid, but we re-wrote and focused our perspective from Vhaeraun priest, so he would naturally avoid telling that part of the story :)

My family of Drow PCs came from Szith Morcane to Skullport because Eilistraee's song lured the would be matriarch of the new clan(consisting of her, Sah'Aro, and her niece Ehlianna) to find a new path and a new way to live. The Promenade of the Dark Maiden is most welcoming to refugees from the Underdark and a good jump off point for any Drow PCs who aren't outright evil. Eilistraee's death and somewhat abrupt return in 1489 DR is absolutely fantastic for character background. Ehlianna was Eilistraee's most devout paladin and when she died Ehlianna went insane. Her grief made her a terror in the Underdark and drew the attention of the Raven Queen, who offered Ehlianna a new way to terrify what lives in the dark: the powers of a Hexblade. Eilistraee's return has made things complicated for Ehlianna. 😂

Perhaps even predicting she would follow him upon knowing his banishment. It’s possible if you take this story as the truth that this could be how he felt, whether he admitted it or not. They are twins are they not? I’ve known many a complicated twin relationship in my life and this does not seem out of the realm of possibility in terms of a somewhat toxic but still dependent relationship between siblings, especially when one is overshadowed by the other but the overshadowing one is kind at heart and wishes not to be parted from a dear loved one. This is just one idea I have on the subject but one I think suits this story as it’s told in this instance.

would have been a 12th-level character by 3e game system.
He already spent a few hundreds years hunting desert board, jackals, and mountain lions.
Rayek: ranger4th/psion6th/ psych warrior2nd, CR:12,:BAB+8
Favorite enemy: board +2, jackal+1
In my personal setting, I play/ run elves as more mythic creatures.
Loaded with a lot of minor magic items starting at 8th-level.
All elves hide behind magic around humans.
Player One: I always play elves and you game sounds no fun !
Me : all elves traveling in human lands are assassins to remove threats to the Elven Forest. Elves have reputations for killing nobles.
Player Two : I'm in.
What about Dwarves ?
fighter2nd/ cleric3rd. CR:5 base. BAB+3
All dwarf run forges make +1arms/armor. and sell healing powder.
Hi everyone☺ I hope you all are doing good.
Glad I found your channel. New subscriber. I love your channel.
Welcome onboard :)
I appreciate that you did this in the perspective of a drow narrator.
Was there not a Balor that is trapped within a chest or something that magnifies the madness of Lolth. Great narration by the way
I was hoping this would be the lore behind Queen of Demonweb Pit 2ed module. This clip should have been titled the Birth of Lolth.
I remember reading this in some of the books but I can't remember which ones it was best see the part about them hunting Carillion when he was injured
Dan Carlin’s Hardcore DnD History
Any Vhaeraun videos?
I found your channel just after you did this video and then binged the rest. What is your knowledge of Lycanthropes?
Fairly high -But our channel would frame it in a cult/society video, explaining about how the Church of Malar see it as a blessing or talk about the Akri, the Gray Wolf Tribe, Black Blood Tribe or Legion of Lions.
@@ForgottenRealmsHistory I was an old school AD&D 1&2E player. I played a family of Selunite weretigers for years. It's a long trip from Arrabar to Waterdeep. Lol.
Ayyy a darkelf from lineage 2 :D
Brilliantly read!
Great work by John-Mark here.
@@ForgottenRealmsHistory yes, he does an amazing impression of Michael here. ;)
A great story told with class!
Very nice videos 👍
I LOVE THIS WORLD !
As do we :)
Vaguely reminds me of the Greek mythology for the origin of the spider. Main similarity and possibly only one is where a beautiful woman is transformed into a spider.
Indeed, Arachne was turned into a spider for her hubris, much like Lolth.
Awesome job explaining things by the way and great visuals! You got a sub from me on this video. :D
Nicely done. Earned u a sub...
I miss Wendonai here, but its fantastic anyway, hope you contiue this awesome job
Yeah, video was a bit long in the tooth, so anything that came after her fall should be discussed in another video, if we can figure out a good format.
@@ForgottenRealmsHistory praying for It!!
Nice!
I have subscribed, all praise to Lolth.
Love this channel
On the Crazy Lich Experimental Logs she died by a demon prince
Illustrea is the moon elf princess who rules from Silverymoon.
I'd like to humbly and very constructively congratulate you for using your voiceover talent for these videos recently. Both the narrators' voices and the audio quality used to contrast too notably to your own and your own sound quality, so I do hope you keep separating your professionally crafted videos from the ones you might use for personal promotion or other purposes like the contest you had once. I for one have a very weird and ugly voice so it's not like I'm criticising you with no purpose, it's more for the appreciation of your content and the awesome material you've created.
Faerun History is actually more like 5 people who work together - Three of us do VO, two do Animation (working on a third), four (working on the 5th) write scripts, we all review scripts and give work together on improving our skills. So every video is a mix and match of these five people working together.
That was really Good Thank You !!
The Lineage II dark elf😍
Most excellent!
Thank you for the praise :)
@@ForgottenRealmsHistory Thanks for all the great videos!
Drow is pronounced like KNOW, or GO, or SO. Now HOW. Athrogate ryhmes it near the end of the Pirate King.
The fall of an elven goddess.
The Rise of the Spider Queen goddess.
Well done
Thanks ^^
8:01 FUSION DANCE !!!.
The fall of Lolth started the day Drizz't Do'Urden was born.
Well told.
I wonder what would have happened if loth managed to become the head of the pantheon?
Drow Culture in all elven societies?
@@ForgottenRealmsHistory not exactly, since they wouldn't need certain cultural aspects seeing as they aren't hiding from the rest of their kind.
1:03 that's Dragon Age elven pantheon xD
Hmmm the way I see it, yes he is jealous of his sister but also…he doesn’t seem to actually want to be without his sister either.
They are destined to become one. Vhaeraeun dies at a certain point, and Ellistrae picks up his mask and his portfolio.
This doesn't last, but for a period, Ellistrae would keep his followers safe.
What are these two reddish brown and white creatures in the background f.e. at 06:00-08:00?
It creeves me not to identifie the picture 😅
The Forgotten Realms used to be cool, but after the eighth world shattering cataclysm that changed the whole setting in just over a decade, Faerun's fetish for epic fantasy is getting really stale. I miss Dark Sun and Birthright.
And instead of either of these amazing settings, WotC gives us the garbage that is Ravnica.
I hope they continue the animated drow movies
When will we get to see a video about the Imaskari Empire?
A while yet. There is a lot of lore on the Deep Imaskari that I have yet to consume that I feel I need to research before dedicating myself to the Imaskari Empire.
Can you do Curse of Strahd next?
Strahd is not really a Forgotten Realms character, but I have been thinking about doing one on the planner connections between the Realm of Dread and the Realms.
Sooo, Jarlaxle is Lloth, right???
Jarlaxle Baenre certainly gives a nod towards Lolth, but I would think he is not exactly a huge follower of hers, more like lip service.
@@ForgottenRealmsHistory the latest has confirmed that Jarlaxle did die. 3rd born. A lot of what I want to say may be spoilers to some so it's hard for me to explain. Baenre knew this, and treated him like he was untouchable. Even more so than Drizzt he seems like the perfect instrument for chaos. Dunno, but I need more proof to convince me otherwise.
I assure you, Jarlaxle has no love for the Spider Queen or her fanatical Priestess, he even sits at chaotic neutral in alignment, because some serious stuff just went down... For further details involving the Royal Renegade of house Baenre, pick up the newest book by R A Salvatore (Timeless) besides. I already no who Lolth is, just not absolutely certain of her motives, yet... :-)
@@dadsdone3524 lol. Thanks for the "heads up", but I had it preordered on both mediums. Big time fan here. But we are talking about chaos incarnate, right? Dont know why you assume I don't know about "her" though. I'm an Aquarius, I think wierd. My thoughts break campaigns. Old One Eye just has a way with people that seems really unnatural. Also, it is confirmed that he was sacrificed. Any explanations?
Khazid' hea died when and where ? Stop playing he was suppose to be sacrificed cuz he was 3rd son but wasn’t...
Is there a podcast for Forgotten Realms Lore?
We strike from the shadows, ggz
Didn't the Raven Queen fuck her up and take over her realm or something? And that's why Birb Mom now controls the web of fate?
The Raven Queen is a Dawn War deity, created for 4E. She's not part of the Realms in current iteration.
Aww, I ALMOST feel sorry for the spider wench. This makes sacrificing her priestesses to Zuggtmoy all the sweeter.
Whats the timeline for these events?
Are they throughout the crownwars?
who is the narrator..he's pretty good
This is Michaels work (see discription) he is a professional voice actor that helps out here cause he is a huge forgotten realms fan. If you want to support him, get one of the audiobooks he voices :)
Evil is much of a cultural view and blaming others. As one chapter of RA Salvatore's HOMELAND said: This Enemy, They.
Those of us who do not want to live under the Matriarchy.... nice to see that there are others who realize that there is no way that Drizzt is the only one.
Selune is the goddess of the moon or was that just another name for her?
Elves and Humans have different gods for the Moon. Some say they are just aspects and they are really the same being behind the mask, but others claim they are separate and have different powers and abilities over their respective areas.
@@ForgottenRealmsHistory I can see that but doesn't make much sense to me unless they are the same god under different names. You can only have one deity of a given domain.
The drow are such an interesting race
Drizzt do urden! She spent centuries worrying about a simple mortal or is he ???
Can anyone help?
I started listening to an audiobook that started out with Lolth bullying a Balor into serving her, anyone know what it was called?
Siege of Darkness by R.A. Salvatore?
@@eurohobbes Cheers, i'll search it later.
There is one drow elf that everyone loves.. drizzt himself.yes
Finaly!
It took a while, but it was worth it.
where did u get this info
Evermeet: Island of Elves. Or Demihuman Deities. Or the Drow of the Underdark. Note that this thge origin story in the Forogtten Realms, which is different from Mordenkainen's version, but is true for Toril. Note too that this version is altered, because it's told by a Vhaeraunite character (for example, it neglects to say that Eilistraee chose exile despite her innocence because she had seen glimpses of a future in which the drow would face hardships and pain, and she wanted to be there for them in the times of need--even though she was scared of what she had seen, and she could have had all she wanted if she had just stayed in Arvandor).
Fall of Lolth? Well a bUnch of 1e adventurers went from G1-3, D1-3, and finally Q1 where they killed Lolth.
But that happened in Greyhawk (G1 at least as a known Greyhawk location), so doesn't count.
... and now WotC just threw all this lore out the window...
R.A Salvatore is super woke.
We have yet to do a video about Drizzt, still wondering how we should form that one :)
