Glad to see someone picked up on this 😊 - We had a talk between all the creators and defined some core rules around what a Faerun History video should be. We always had the idea that the speaker should be a character, telling the story, but after some investigation into storytelling technics, especially verbal storytelling like we do, we were lacking audience as part of our script. We always viewed you guys as our audience, but we now have a rule around writing scripts asking, “Who is the speaker, and who is he speaking to?” and both answers need to be in-world, not out of character.
i know Im asking the wrong place but does anybody know a trick to get back into an instagram account..? I somehow forgot the login password. I would appreciate any tips you can give me
As I suspected... A completely accurate and very useful look into the fascinating world of the Underdark and Lolthian lore. As usual excellent work. :-)
The Underdark is so much more interesting than anything on the surface. Most from the surface world have no conception of all the marvelous things going on in the Underdark far underneath their feet.
Cool, we are playing a drow campain at Menzoberrazan, these vídeos are the better tool for me to make my players understand some strange social "rules". Thanks for the hard work, hope you make some more videos about drow stuff.
@@kalsaari4670 Although of course The Forgotten Realms Menzoberranzan city of Drow is the best known thanks to the R.A.Salvatore books, the Drow in D&D started in Greyhawk. Eclavdra is a priestess of Lolth, the leader of House Eilservs and a native of the Drow city of Erelhei-Cinlu. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Greyhawk_characters#E If you would like to learn more I suggest you read the old G1, G2 and G3 modules, followed by the D1 and D2 and then Q1. Or the 'supermodule' GDQ1-7 (Queen of the Spiders)
So you've got the hierarchy wrong here. There are 8 great houses in Menzoberranzan and each is ruled by a matron mother. These great houses are ranked within the city by the standing armies they are able to field as well as their favor with Lolth, and their deeds in recent memory. Each has her "progeny" although this does not imply direct parentage as the drow prefer to reproduce in large orgies. The 9th, unofficial house of Bregan D'aerthe serves as a spy and mercenary network who will broker information and aid to those they wish to empower within the city or those who pay the best. Each matron mother has a number of daughters who are all priests of Lolth. They vie for the chance at eventual succession of the matron mother, often through violent insurrection. While there is a stratification of rank in the daughters of a matron mother, they are considered 2nd, 3rd, 4th and so on after the matron mother until we come to the highest ranking of the males - the blademaster. This individual is the highest ranking male, and is responsible for training and leading the loyal garrison of the great house. Merchants and commoners make up the lowest ranks under soldiers of the garrison, and gender matters little this low in drow society. After all they are one step above slaves.
Excellent video. I will soon be starting an old-school D&D campaign (2nd edition with some AD&D, Unearthed Arcana rules). The plan is to (eventually) get them into the 'Against the Giants' series and then on into the underdark. Eventually our poor fools will go to the Demonweb pit and perhaps against Lolth herself, if we live that long. This will be set in a Greyhawk campaign however.
@@manfrommaine Sadly, no. I brought them through Keep on the Borderlands and then Corona kept us from getting together for games night, I said "Who's gonna know?" We've only played once and skipped out twice due to people having other commitments.
This is one of the videos I’ve been excited to see y’all do.....awesome job please finish and the other members of the Dark Seldarin that were in MToF please you guys do excellent jobs of keep it up🕸🕸🕷🕷👍🏼👍🏼💯
Hey, my guy. Great video. Love the drow and the drider to a lesser extent. Also, there’s a typo in the description. It says “near” instead of “hear”. Just letting you know.
Yvonnel was not reborn, but her mind absorb by a illithid, who transferred it into Quenthals mind, forming a symbiosis - She still rules Menzoberranzan as far as I can see from my stats (Out of the Abyss seems to have the latest info I can find)
Quenthal Baenre rules Menzoberranzan as of the novel Archmage. There seems to have been a time jump between the events of the War of the Spider Queen and Archmage because Triel was still Matron at the end of the final novel, Resurrection. Yvonnel had the option to displace Quenthal, but like every other female in the Forgotten Realms, she has a crush on Drizzt and decided to tramp around on the surface with him instead.
"Only the strong deserve to live in freedom." 😵 I like the script, but the voice actor sounds more like a human noble, not a drow. To much snobbish ness and not enough mania. In effect a drow sadist(all drow are sadists) has the privilege of potentially feeding new recruits into the grinder of his darwinion society. He should be over joyed at the idea of all the carnage that will follow.
Yeah but none of htem are ACTUALLY worshiping Lolth or doing it FOR Lolth, they are doing it for all for personal gain and greed NOT for Lolth or her favor all that is a fasade.
Always tweaking our characters who speak, I don't think we will re-do this one, (like we did on last video) but will take the feedback on going forward.

@@Lolgram It is indeed a heartbreaking tale. Lolth is believed to have used her powers to make female drow grow larger than males(like female spiders) so that they may more easily dominate the males. Pretty much forcing her ideology on the species as a whole for all eternity.
Sad to see this channel so inactive, when it's so informative :(
I know right ! And I miss that intro music…
Always gives me the chills since it was used to such great effect in the NWN Prophet series.
I really love how you speak as a Drow male speaking to other Drow males. I would love to see more videos like this.

One of my favorite subjects. Love the Abyssal denizens. Especially the 666th layer and any demoness that ascends to godhood. It's pretty awesome
Awesome, just as I'm setting up following the lmop module with an underdark campaign.
Incredible work, as always. Thank you so much!
Thank you, glad to see it being used for intended purpose.

I really enjoyed the passion that the narrator evoked in this video good work.
Very nice, well made and informative. As expected.

The voice sounds a bit too much like the comic book guy from the simpsons to me...
I'm gonna tell you the truth ... the voice actor is a huge nerd.
Oh no. I didn't notice it till I read this comment. lol
Love this channel! Excellent work, as usual.

From the point of view of a male.....unexpected but interesting.
We have been doing this with a lot of our Drow videos, really comes down to our voice actor supply.

This fantasy franchise is so cool, I want some of their books, the art of the Drow city is gothicly beautiful and creepy, not a place you want to be.
If you hate spiders, you'll never wanna visit their city. Ever.
This is going to be awesome!
I love this. You really do get into the characters
Oloth plynn d'jall, kivvin!
Lolth tlu malla!

Just a small opinion a woman narrator as a priestess of Lolth would have been a cherry on top of this beautiful and wicked video😈🕸🕸🕷🕷👍🏼👍🏼💯

Quenthal not Quenthes Baenre. You insolence is unforgivable
Quenthel with an "e" actually. Neither is yours!
Eric Simoneau Grammar.
You are only mere males after all.. 🤷
Loth reminds me of Luther like concept, fall from Grace, also includes her kids and conspirators too
Lolth tlu malla!
Love it as always you guys are fan fucking tastic!
Thank you :)

The Guard, or the Priestess? Either sounds like a horrible experience if you ask me.
I just finished homeland and wow was it great
Lolth. The original goddess of wahmen!
Just say'in.. feminism would be a lot cooler with more sexy half-spider ladies.
Thnx
It’s pronounced (kwenthell) Quenthel. Her last consonant syllable is an ell sound not an iss sound.
👏👏👏👏
How’d you make this video?
After Effects and lots of time :)
A weapon master and not a Yath?
Originally we wanted a Yathrin or even a yathtallar, but female voice actors is not something we have in large supply :(

Fear the priestesses
