My friends and I used to swallow our marbles by accident often. Some kid would swallow it on purpose when a bully tries to take it from them. We somehow knew and would just retrieve it from our poop later. We were around 5-7 years olds and living in a third world country.
I nearly choked to death on a piece of carrot. My Dad immediately flipped me upside down, held me by my ankles and swatted my back. The piece of carrot propelled out of my mouth like my brother's toy a rocket. Thank you Dad! Happy Dad's Day. 💌
This is common knowledge in a third world country like mine that was frequently used by precious stones, metal smugglers until scanning in airports came along.
be careful with magnets and toddlers and dogs especially neodymium magnets. Two of them separated by a little distance can stick together and obstruct and or damage the intestines.
My 2yo son swallowed a button battery. On the xray, it was still in his stomach and the doctors decided to wait until later to take it out, which was 6 hours later. When they did another xray, they found that the battery has moved to the intestine in the meantime and forced my son and wife to stay 5 days at a hospital.
It's important to go to the hospital ASAP since something like a penny can get stuck there and as time passes the procedure becomes a much bigger deal.
I was brought up being told “if you swallow your gum, it’ll stick to your bones”! Incredible what you believe when little. Gum used to be called “chuddy” when I was wee.

Small intestines taking a crack at it. Absolute Class and you can see where this is going.

Be careful of jewelry that is lead based.
Didn't know that Johnathan was a anatomy teacher as well as a doctor... ❤
What I heard: "We let the small intestines take a crap at it."
Me: I should probably study this weeks anatomy class
* Gulp! *
My son swallowed part of an earring...it came out in his diaper. I cleaned it off and put it in his baby book!
