Hi Exeter rider me too! I have an XJR1300 and an MT03, never mind learners I love it! Both bikes are used for going to Ireland to watch real road racing. The seat on the MT is not great but 5 hours on it to Holyhead not that bad! Mine is a 2016 mt maybe not so stifled by euro 4. Brakes are very good but mine is run in! Which one would you say is better suited for an occasional freeway ride? I'm thinking 120-140kpm for an hour ride, every two or three weeks. Bmw g310r included as well. Thanks!
Hi David. I am sorry. I repled to your comment but just come back and its not posted for some reason! The 300R is better with faster speeds due to less vibes but if your doing quite alot of it I would advise 600cc and above to be honest. The BMW does tend to vibe too much, again sorry for late reply!
@@exeterrider thanks a lot really appreciate it! One last thing: How come the 300r is better suites for highway if the mt03 has a lot more hp and two cilinders? Is it just the way you felt it? Just curious thanks a lot!
@@davidardevolduran398 Sorry I was only talking BMW and 300R . Yes the vibe free twin pot on the 03 was impressive compared to every other 300 I have tried , but I didn't like the ergos on it much with the high peg position and compared to its single pot competitors it just seemed to run out of steam quicker proberly due to its twin-cylinder characteristics . Have you thought of a 350 Meteor - or is that not your thing? The 300R is the best out the lot of them (although the Meteor will beat them all on comfort and rideability) but it was the short gearing that ruined the 300R for me personally . being in 6th by the time I hit 35-40 was annoying. I would go Enfeild I think personally.

@@jackbagelz5010 they are all like that in the UK. We ride on the left hand side as opposed to the right like in the U. S etc. They all seem fine to me.
Have you rode a ninja 400? It’s kinda confusing you mention this Yamaha needing modernizing but the cb300r is using an old 250cc that’s been bored to 287cc. Anyway I’m curious what you think the best learner bikes are for an American. 300-500cc basically. Duke 390 or ninja 400 for you?
Z400 or cb300r for me. The engine in the cb300r was new in the UK. We didn't get the 250 here. I also like the BMW 310 series although they are starting to get a little dated now. Not ridden the ninja 400 yet.

exeter rider it’s usually the USA that doesn’t get the lower CC stuff. We didn’t get the 300’s at first we were stuck with the 250’s longer than other people. Not the good 4 cylinder 250’s the singles. And we got the Nina 300 & the r3 then the ninja 400 but we never got the Z300 at all, we just got the z400, and the MT03 we just got as well.
Hi Exeter. I just booked the cab 300 r but after a couple of test rides, I am not convinced about it. The bike is great but I am not too happy with how refined the engine is. It does get very buzzy at 5000 rpm and you can feel it on the handle and the foot pegs. Purely from a engine refinement and smoothness pov, how would you rate the Mt 03 as against the cb 300 r? I know it's unfair to compare a large single vs a small capacity twin but that's exactly what I need to understand. How refined is this vs cb 300r. I hate anything viby and I am thinking of cancelling my cb booking and wait for this to release in my country
Hi Ashwin. All fair comments you make there. The CB does get a little vibe but the fact is you will get that with any single low power engine so the type of bike your buying your not going to escape vibes. It's not as bad as many bikes I've ridden and only becomes a slight issue about 65 mph, what's your average travelling speed? The Mt 03 has alot less vibes but its outdated dash, foot pegs are too high, its doesn't have led lights and the torque curve isn't so good, rear brakes are pretty bad and it's more expensive to run and to buy. For those reasons the Honda wins for me everytime..... What country are you in? Have you looked into the BMW 310s?
@@exeterrider Hi Exeter. I am from india. The CB has just released here . The MT 03 looks like it may come by this year end but there is no confirmation. My main use is commute and i previously owned a 2018 duke 390 which was very off putting as it was very vibey and the heat management was not good. Also, it was too overpowered for my use. I rode the CB and i initially like it but i also tried the ninja 300 which made me realized that for a refinement , i must look at a twin not a single. I am fairly new to biking and having made the mistake of buying the wrong bike ( D 390) and making a huge loss selling it for half the price, i want to make sure i get the right one this time :) I don't ride fast at all ( definitely below 50 mph)
The 310s are made in my country!! But BMW has prices them outrageously expensive. I had my eye on the baby GS but on road, the baby GS costs almost 1.7 times the CB and 310 R costs 1.3 times the CB :( . Coupled with the insane cost of ownership that a BMW commands, both the 310s are absolute failures in India and this is mind boggling since it is manufactured here.

Have you done a review/video of the beemer? Like you I have the CB300R and love it, who needs more power? It does everything I need it to however, its main flaw for me is the horrible engine rattle around 6000rpm! Research seems to suggest it is an inherent noise stemming back to the CBR250R. Further digging around suggests it may be a weakness in the timing chain or tensioner that Honda have never addressed. I can't stand engine noises and for me spoils the whole riding experience of the Honda hence why I was asking about the 300 beemer. Cheers for this anyway, good video.
