The visuals we see during “Inside of every demon is a rainbow” is actually something everyone in the show can see because that was Charlie using her magic to create those visuals
The really fun bit is that Charlie has never actually seen a rainbow, only had them described to her. So all her depictions of one are recognisable, but wrong.
She 'does' have musical reality warping powers, after all. Inherited from Lilith, presumably. Aside from maybe Lucifer and Sera the Seraphim, she's probably the most powerful member of the cast so far, with Alastor coming in just behind her.
@@ShadowQuickpawinherited from Lilith? Lucifer shows the same stuff in his song. And for the power ceiling of Al: only if you limit the cast to HH alone and exclude HB. Otherwise Stolas, Mammon, Bee and Asmodeus
@@undertakernumberone1 During Charlie's story narration from Ep 1, she talks about Lilith "empowering her people with her song" so I thought it'd be a nice in-universe way to describe the power of musicals. XP
Yeah, Nifty died in her early twenties, but that was in the 1950s. So she should be around 90 years old now. Vaggie is the youngest in the group - she died in her early twenties in 2014, so she's currently in her early thirties. That's the info you'll find in the internet, but I'm not sure if it's still true. The creator said those things a long time ago, long before the Amazon series came out, so she could have changed it.
23:45 Out of all the characters we have been told (by Vivzie on live streams and on Twitter) the most canon information about Angel and Alastor’s lives while they were alive. The decade some characters died is also known: Alastor - 1930’s Angel - 1940’s Niffty - 1950’s Husk - 1960’s (!! Alastor and Angel spoiler warning in case it is eventually mentioned in the show!!) Angel died in the 1940’s and as we all know he was from New York. He was in the mafia alongside his brother and father. His sister is in heaven so it’s unclear if she was also in the business or not. He died of a drug overdose, likely, ironically, on Angel Dust (the nickname for cocaine). Alastor died in the 1930’s and was from Louisiana. He had a radio show, hence his motif in hell. He was a serial killer and cannibal. He died when he was shot in the head, most likely after being mistaken for a deer while hiding the body of one of his victims.
@@MoonlarkSpirits (spoilers!!) That is very possible!! I didn’t include her incase it gets proven that she was a born angel, I didn’t want to put any misinformation. My theory at the moment is that the events in the flashback of episode 6 take place in 2014, so she says she died in 2014 to seem less suspicious. Idk but I can’t wait for more reveals with upcoming episodes!! :)
Behold! Spoilers! I say she died in 2014 as a human, ascended into Heaven… and then got banished after a few years Of course, you might say but she killed thousands so that’s not possible… but there is a chance she was so good at being a you know what that she managed to kill thousands in just a few years
There is also a music video called "Addict" that shows a bit of Angel Dust's life struggles, and a short web comic that shows how he was invited to join the Hotel, both played a big part on why Angel Dust was so loved before the official series even released.
@@amelianyoom9545 Not really replaced since Addict was a fan song that got enough attention to make it canon in some way, but Addict is canon in someway since it just go from a different point of Angel's backstory, and Poison being pretty much the whole thing
It was honestly really nice to see someone watch the first episode without having seen the pilot. I do think the show is made to be watchable (and understandable) without having seen it but with most people already knowing the pilot it was hard to find someone to test this theory on.
in a weird way, im kinda glad that i got to watch the series before the pilot. While it's great that there's a fandom that's stayed loyal for over four years, four years is still one heck of a long time to build up expectations. And some fans along the way, even started to create their own parts of the story which they've kinda relied on as "canon", like the mysterious hazbin hotel fanfiction that's now gone from the internet or the "instagram posts" the characters have made. That, along with creating headcanons that they've come to perceive as canon due to the lack of, well, canon until season 1 came out, which could explain why some of the older fans were more or less, disappointed by the changes made in the series. Expectations often lead to disappointment, especially when it's been built up for a long time.
I don’t think the hierarchy of hell is a spoiler… so here is the official hierarchy and power ranking: 1. Lucifer 2. Charlie and Lilith 3. The other 6 deadly sins (appear in Helluva boss) 4. The ars goetia (Best to watch Helluva boss) 5. Overlords (Alastor for example) 6. Sinners 7. Hellborns (Succubi, Fish demons? and more -> Helluva boss) 8. Imps & Hellhounds (also hellborn but lower hellborn)
@darkness_hound1375 they are that is why imps and hellborns have their own category... but succubi are the same as Loansharks and I think Jester skeletons (from greed) I edited it, so it's probably clearer now what I meant
@@kimchi-p31w What I mean is that I thought succubi were higher than loansharks, jester skeletons, etc. But it's most likely I'm wrong, so don't worry about it
This is a hierarchy ranking not a power ranking. There has been no power scaling or ranking since the new show came out and the lore and story had confirmed to have been changed. Most information from the Pilot era and livestreams is no longer confirmed to be canon. Power scaling is nothing but here say and speculation at this point until it is shown in universe or confirmed by a recent source.
I can't help but laugh every time Angel Dust is messing with the automatic window, it just cracks me up. I love the detail that he died before they existed and so obviously he's fascinated by them. I would be too lol.
the post credit scene was added precisely to keep it canon, when it was originally uploaded it was kinda implied that Sir Pentius was killed by Alastor. He got big in the fandom so Viv decided to keep him in the main series and even add him to the main cast, hence why they added an extra scene showing him surviving the attack. So yeah, minus the prologue and exposition dumps, the pilot is canon. that's why the main series is a "soft" reboot, most of the pilot is canon except for the things that are retconned/expanded on the full series.
The one main difference I’ve seen is Charlie’s relationship with her father, which didn’t seem as antagonistic as the call with her mother seemed to make it sound.
"She needs someone to support her and love her!!" ALASTOR APPEARS. Lilo: "I need a friend. Maybe you can send me an Angel!" *Stitch appears from crater and laughs evilly*
I hope yo check out the "Addict" music video aftee this. It's not technically canon, but it does give us a much deeper dive into Angel Dust's character and his struggles. Plus it's a bop. Also, Charlie is definitely the most powerful demon hust beneath her parents. She just almost never uses it. And every single one of these voice actors were replaced, and while I love the new cast, whe shall never forget the ones who started it all.
To give context around Alastor he was a radio host in Louisiana during the late 1920’s to early 30’s. He was a serial killer and a cannibal who ate the bodies of his victims and used them for voodoo. His death was caused by the fact when he was hiding a body in the woods hunting dogs chased him down and hunters mistook him for a deer. This is why Alastor in hell appears as a Wedigo (a mythical creature that wears a deer skull and eats humans) radio host, and explains his massive fear of dogs.
One thing about who's more powerful; Charlie is in the highest rank of power in hell, with her parents being the highest, the capital sins below her with then on down there's the overlords, then sinners, and then hellborns, altho hellborns with royal roles go on top close to the capital sins. The reason why Charlie gets stepped on is only because she doesn't want to be mean and use her power, but if she were to fight seriously she could most probably sweep the floor with pretty much anyone, just that she thinks that's mean. You already saw episode 4 so there's that with her dialogue of "But that's so meaaaan" when Vaggie told her to make people respect her
@@EpicFableBean Kind of close to what I said, I sometimes mess up since it depends on individual power too, like some Overlords with some demon royalty
Hierarchy =/= Power. There has been zero confirmation of relative power since the release of the new show. The lore and story has confirmed to have been changed since the Pilot and 90% of the public information, including from the livestreams years ago is not longer confirmed to be canon. We have no idea how powerful Charlie is relative to anyone in universe. It's all here say and speculation.
Here's the canon we know as of right now: Angels' real name is Anthony. He's from New York and part of an Italian crime family. He's a spider demon because of his families web of crime his older brother Arakinis is also a spider demon in hell, and his twin sister Molly is in heaven but also resembles a spider. He can speak fluent Italian. He died from a drug overdose of Angel dust in the 40s Alastor was a black radio host from New Orleans (I believe) who practiced Voodoo and loved his mom. He became a murdered and a cannibal for reasons unknown. If I'm not mistaken he can speak French creol. He was mistaken for a deer during hunting season, presuambly while hiding a body and was shot and mulled by hunting dogs in the 30s Cherri bomb is a little flimsy, but it's thought that she was an Australian anarchist shot down by riot police in the 80s At the time of the pilot, Vaggie had died via suicide in the 2010s and was a moth demon. That idea has since been abandoned, though. Nifty is in her 20s, died in the 50s, and originally could speak fluent Japanese
WOOOOOOOO! I’m really happy you’re getting into the series Weeby! The pilot is where it all started, so I’m glad you get to see all the wonderful OG voice actors and how it all began! Hope you’re enjoying it so far!
Funny you'd reference "Friends on the Other Side". The VA for Husk in the show (not pilot) is the VA for Dr Facilier and singer for that song. Keith David.
Pretty sure each of the characters sexualarities are listed on their wiki bios, or atleast used to be, pretty sure Charlie is Bi, Vaggie and Angel are both Gay, Husk is Pansexual and Alastor is Asexual... it's been a while but there was alot of discussions about it back when the pilot first aired.
What about Angel and Cherri in the music video made for Addict? Ik it isn't canon but it was made by Vivzie. And ofc that doesn't mean he can't be gay but I feel like he probably isn't
Alastor being asexual was directly referenced in today's episode (ep7), which was a nice touch, I know there had been some debate as to whether that was still canon.
@@azeTrom17 Cherri is his best friend and in an earlier incarnation his daughter (non canon now but it was once the plan) so I'm pretty sure he's still gay, but if nothing else, he is at the very least Bi
Alastor being aro(?)ace kind of surprised me when I got into HH (I mean the fact the creators wrote him as one, not the fact that he is - it was lightly hinted in the pilot, when you listen at for instance his interactions with Angel Dust, so when I read Vivzie confirmed it I wasn't super shocked). But the more time passes, the more interesting and kind of amazing I find this tidbit. I mean, the man is _very_ heavily tumblr-sexyman-coded, if you know what I mean... From his design to his personality he seems to have been fated to attract fangirls from the start, and it would've been really easy to make him express attraction to ANYone and reap out the fanfiction benefits... And yet this isn't the route they chose to go. He's pretty removed from the 'typical' ace/aro representation you might get to see in some other media, imho, and I just found that pretty great on a meta level, along with being curious about his lore in-story. (also, all character analysis aside, it means we got 'Alastor writes a p00rno', which is still my favourite piece of HH fan content out there - it's freakin hilarious)
@@Maradrafts As an aroace he legit makes me so happy. I do not apologise for the person I've become. Alastor has so much personality and style :D Plus, him being aroace makes his motivation even more fun to me. Like, he's making his aesthetic and getting his reputation truly for the kick of it and the challenge rather than anyone else.
I think the point of the fireworks is Charlie giving a little hope to the sinners, that it’s over, that they made it. A little bit of light for them and her
40:28 Kinda cool that you mention it. Because from the info on the characters outside the shows it's been stated that Alastor was a Creole man in early 1900s New Orleans, so visual connection is kinda obvious when you know enough about this. Plus there's been controversies regarding symbols flying around Alastor in few shots. Those symbols are actual Voodoo symbols and some people didn't took a liking to that visual thingy. But yeah, those symbols are just a visual confirmation of his background during life he had.
3:12 If you pause it fast enough when Angel is buying drugs, you can see that one of the options is to get a SQUIP. When I first noticed it I nearly had a heart attack, my theatre nerd heart wasn't prepared for a Be More Chill Reference
11:05 I always just figured that they disrespect her because her parents aren't there - everyone either looks up to Lilith or is scared of Lucifer because they know how easily he could end them.
The “so many orphans” comment about the stock market crash of 1929 refers to how many orphans were created because their parents committed suicide because of the market crash. Also, Alastor reminds me a bit of Alucard from Hellsing Ultimate Abridged. He’s crazy powerful, twisted, and does crazy/violent things for shits and giggles.
I think the "So many Orphans...." comment was a joke on how a lot of people offed themselves and left behind their children because of the stock market crash
The Addict music video is also something you should probably watch before episode 4 at least, but it was realeased after tge pilot before the show came out.
We never get explicitly told what time period different characters dies in within the show itself, but Vivziepop (the creator) told us the time petiods of the main cast in the stream a few years ago. But keep in mind that some of this information might've been changed since then: Alastor died in 1933, Angel Dust died in the 1940s, Husk died in the 1970s, Nifty died in the 1950s & Sir Pentious died in the 1880s. In earliee drafts Vaggie died in the 2010s, but we dont know if that's still true for her modern iterations.
I'm joining in on the people saying you need to see Hazbin Hotel's "Addict" video next. Hopefully before continuing the show. Just adds some more context.
Both Charlie and Alastor are fans of musicals. Charlie's opening song, "I'm Always Chasing Rainbows", is from the 1918 vaudeville play "Oh, Look!". Later, when Alastor tells Vaggie to smile, he's humming "You're Never Fully Dressed Without A Smile" from the Broadway musical adaptation of "Little Orphan Annie". Quite a bit has been changed since the pilot so some of the following may not be canon anymore, but at the time the characters' backstories, as confirmed by Vivzie herself at the time via Tweets and livestreams, were: - Charlie was born in the 1820s and is the only character in the pilot who is a native of Hell instead of a Sinner. In the pilot her last name was Magne, as a joke on "Charlemagne". - Vaggie was a Salvadoran prostitute who died in 2014, though Vivzie tweeted that she felt like Vaggie died earlier than she claimed. Her design was based on a moth. - Angel Dust was from an Italian-American mob family in New York, almost all of which are in Hell, and are all based on spiders. He died in his 30s in 1947 after overdosing on PCP, a.k.a. "angel dust". - Alastor was a New Orleans radio host, prolific serial killer, and cannibal. He may have also dabbled in voodoo. He died in 1933 when he was mistaken for a deer and shot by a hunter while he was in the woods hiding the remains of his latest victim. His design was based on a deer. He was designed long before "The Princess and the Frog", so resemblances to Dr. Facilier are entirely coincidental. - Husk was a Las Vegas native who worked in casinos his whole life, eventually becoming a gambling addict and alcoholic and died in the 1970s. Somehow the fandom got the idea that he was a Vietnam veteran, but when asked if that was canon Vivzie replied that she had no idea where that idea came from and had never heard of it until just then. - Niffty died in the 1950s. Her design was inspired by bugs, B-movie aliens, and the song "The One-eyed One-horned Flying Purple People Eater". Vivzie said she wrote her with the idea of her being Japanese, due to her VA being fluent in Japanese. - Cherri Bomb was Australian, and died in the 1980s. Her Australian accent doesn't show much in the pilot, but it was much clearer when her voice actress did lines on the HunieCast podcast. - Sir Pentious was English, possibly from Staffordshire, and died in 1888. He's based on a Cobra. - Katie Killjoy died in 1992. - Tom Trench is though to have served in the First World War, as when someone asked in a livestream when Tom died, Vivzie asked what year World War 1 happened in.
I don't know if anyone clarified this, but the events of the Pilot take place a week before the actual show, as evidenced by the dialogue in the show talking about the time. (Alastor saying the hotel was founded five days ago in his advertisement, Vaggie mentioning that Alastor showed up a week ago, and multiple times they stated that the last extermination was a week ago) And as for Charlie and her status, it does come from Lucifer, not Lillith. Lucifer is the ruler of all of Hell, even if Lillith thrived in Hell more than he did. Lucifer is the "Head Honcho", as Katie Killjoy put it, and has the most authority over everyone in Hell. As for power and influence, Charlie does have more power and authority than everyone other than her parents; she just chooses not to use it, but they talk about that more in a later episode, so I won't talk about it too much. Also, Angel Dust (the drug, not the character) is actually a name for phencyclidine or phenylcyclohexyl piperidine (also known as PCP), which is a drug separate from cocaine. Cocaine is a drug that gets you high fast, making you feel euphoric, energetic, talkative, mentally alert, and/or hypersensitive to sight, sound, and touch, and is taken through smoking, snorting, or injecting via a needle. PCP is a separate drug that causes euphoria, joy, anxiety, and/or panic, as well as hallucinations. It was used medicinally in the 1950s, but by the late 60s, it was discovered that it actually caused postoperative dysphoria and hallucinations and is incredibly addictive. (The only reason I know any of this is because doing research for fanfics about characters like Angel can lead you to learn a LOT more about drugs than is normal). And finally, Angel (the character) only takes PCP, at least as far as what's been confirmed, and that is what we see him getting from the vending machine when we first meet him in the Pilot. Anyways, after that long and probably unnecessary infodump, the TL;DR is that Angel Dust (the drug), also known as PCP, is separate from crack, and while they have similar effects, they are not the same, as well as the fact that PCP is the only drug that we can confirm Angel (the character) actually takes. Apologies if any of the information given was incorrect, and if I did get anything wrong, y'all can feel free to correct me on this.
Alastor's name can be translated from ancient Greek to "spirit of revenge" or "tormentor". And he was a serial killer in life, got shot by accident in the woods in 1933.
for some alastor backstory he was a serial killer radio host, and was shot in the head while burying a body (why he has an X on his head). He was on a hunting ground and the hunter thought he was a deer (makes sense for ep 2). This is the cannon as I know it, might remember it slightly off
36:45 That is what it reminds of, but he's specifically referring to the quote "you're never fully dressed without a smile" from the song of the same name from like 1970's (which is odd since Alastor died in 1933), which he literally lives by (absolutely never stops smiling).
at the end of the pilot i love how alastor just casully asks "who wants some jambalaya" and my first response the first time i watched it was, "yes please"
Charlie actually has all kinds of power. She is #2 tier in Hell. #1 tier is her parents, literally the most powerful beings in Hell, Lucifer and Lilith #3 tier are the remaining Princes of the Deadly Sins besides Lucifer (pride), Beelzebub (gluttony), Asmodeus (lust), Mammon (greed), Belphegor (sloth), Leviathan (envy), and Satan (wrath, Satan also CORRECTLY identified as seperate from Lucifer). #4 tier is Demon Royalty like the Goetia families. #5 is Overlords, like Alastor. #6 is Sinners. #7 are common Hellborn like imps and hellhounds. Yes, that is absolutely straight. *_Alastor,_* as powerful as he is, is _three levels of magnitude weaker_ than Charlie. It is probably why he at leas TRIED to get a Deal in with Charlie; the chance to eternally have the second most powerful being in all of Hell under his thumb was too much temptation to resist... but Charlie is nice, not an idiot, and knew better than to take a Deal from anyone. If Charlie wanted to fight Alastor, or literally anyone else in Hell, she could ABSOLUTELY trounce them by sheer power alone. She is just so nice that she rarely, if ever, actually USES that power because she doesn't want to 'be mean.' And because she so rarely flexes her power at people, people don't realize how powerful she IS, and thus have zero respect for her. However, no specifics or spoilers, the way things are shaping up in the show, all the people in Hell are on the verge of getting a SERIOUS wake-up call about Charlie... and learn just why it is they should be GLAD she is so nice.
Kind of. Lilith is considered on par with Charlie rather than with Lucifer. Lucifer is alone at #1, Lilith and Charlie are together in the #2 spot. To add to this, Imps and Hellhounds are at #8, with other native Hellborn at #7 (the Loan Sharks, Succubi, Inccubi, etc). Imps and Hellhounds are considered the bottom tier, lower than other common demons.
@@VegetaLF7 In CLASS they're lower. In POWER they're not. All the common Hellborn... succubi, loan sharks, hellhounds, lazy goats, imps, and whatever hellborn peoples are born of the sins of Greed and Pride (I don't believe any actually spawned of Pride at all... just Charlie. Literally one of a kind.) They all have equal amounts of power, just different abilities. And Lilith is the one who ruled and empowered all Hell with her power. She was basically JUST SHORT of being what Lucifer is, like Adam. A Seraphim. She's on the same power tier as her husband because she was on similar, if not the same, level as him.
Sinners like Angel Dust and Alastor do have previous lives as former humans, also their appearances match who they were in life and how they died. Angel Dust and his entire family are spider-like demons because they're a mafia family that are connected to webs of crimes. Angel Dust died due to a drug overdose. Alastor was born in New Orleans, Louisiana. He was a radio host and broadcaster, who is secretly a serial killer. His death was caused by a hunter who shot him in the forehead mistaking him for a deer, while hiding one of the bodies. Also, Charlie Morningstar is the almost the strongest, but her personality is what prevents her from using her powers to her own potential. Charlie is bisexual, before she had her girlfriend Vaggie, she had an ex-boyfriend named Seviathan von Eldritch. Vaggie is a lesbian, there's not much known about Vaggie other than she died in the 2010s and speaks Spanish since she was Salvadorian, which is why she wondered if what Angel said was sexist or racist, after Angel said "Don't get your taco in a twist, baby". Also, about Alastor, he's aro-ace(neither romantic nor sexual attraction).
After rewatching this pilot over and over for the past 4 years, it makes my heart so happy to see people watching it for the very first time!! Vivzie pop’s art style has inspired me so much over the years and I’m so proud Hazbin Hotel has come so far
I'm surprised for the lack of requests, for the "Hazbin Hotel Addict" music video. It would be fantastic to squeeze that one in before the rest of the show.
I also highly recommend watching the Addict music video before continuing the show because it delves deeper into Angel Dust’s character, and is REALLY good. There’s also an official comic that shows how Angel was first invited to stay there.
*he's definitely being sexist in an attempt to annoy Vaggie (hence the little smirk before he says it) but he also believes it (and explains his philosophy around always smiling in episode 7)
@@bryanmoberg8408 I still don't think he has any misoginy in him. He's deeply misanthropic, meaning that considers as lesser any human, but the reason he used a traditionally misoginistic remark against Vaggie is that she was the one most critical of him, and he correctly assumed that would have been the most irritating way to address her. He loves to see suffering, especially in those that oppose him, no matter their gender 🌈
It was so cool looking back at the pilot and seeing how everything's improved! It really was worth the wait! Can't wait to see Weeby react to the rest of the show. It would be amazing if she reacted to Helluva Boss, too! I love those guys.
I have been on this train since it took off October 2019 and it makes me so happy to see it go to series, and when it officially dropped, it taking off like it has
The thing with the pilot is that at this point, it's only half-canonical. We don't know exactly which parts are non-canon though, so just keep in mind that the pilot happens a week before the main series, and only the most important parts should be considered in the overall series so far.
Some more fun facts for ya, the VA for Pilot Angel Dust is Michael Kovach, who also voices N in Murder Drones, Jax in the Amazing Digital Circus, and Rocky from Lackadaisy. The pilot singing voice for Charlie is Elsie Lovelock who voices Uzi in Murder Drones and the Gloink Queen in the Amazing Digital Circus. Also, highly recommend the Addict music video, Insane by Black Gryph0n, and the farewell song the pilot cast did for Hazbin called Thank You and Goodnight if you're interested!
i loved this series so much more then i thought i would angel and alastor are easily my favorite characters the music is amazing and also after respectless hrrrng velvette
The Xs that show up in multiple character designs are locations of the wounds that killed them and sent them to Hell. Don't remember where that was established, might have been Helluva Boss or some side question and answer thing. But that is why it shows up on multiple characters.
Ngl I do still kinda miss Mick’s Husk and Stamper’s Pentious, but Keith David’s Husk has _really_ grown on me and Alex Brightman is doing awesome as Sir Pentious. It’s only been four years but this pilot is so nostalgic and it’s really impressive to see how far this show has come. Proud of you, Viv 💖
So if you ever watch Helluva Boss, two early designs for main characters from it are in the studio audience. There's an early version of Blitz and an early version of Luna at different points.
@@brolytriplethreat I mean, I'm pretty sure Viv stated somewhere that that is his favorite song, so he could've still seen/heard it somewhere. I doubt he would ever watch any of the Annie movies, for obvious reasons, but maybe there was a musical showing of it in Hell? Like OP said, I think he's the kind of guy to enjoy theater. And since it's set during the stock market crash of 1929, I can see why he would like this musical in particular lol I like to think that, in reference to it, he named his radio broadcast "The Hour of Smiles"
All the actors got reacts because viv wanted a broadway cast. A couple of the original got minor acting roles as some background characters I think. People say it was awful for her to do this, but I don’t get the hate. It happens alot and to my knowledge none of the original va’s have any hard feelings and supported her 100%. They even had a final goodbye music video by Black Gryphon as the original cast members sang a final goodbye song.
Elsie lovelock’s performance as Charlie’s singing voice was beautiful. She is also uzi in the show murder drones as well as mommy long legs in poppy playtime.
This reaction was a lot of fun to watch after seeing the rest of the series and your reactions. Sir Pentious wound up much more engaging than you initially expected. I did really enjoy how Alastor had feedback as an underlying threat. I would guess he was much more stressed out here, than later in the series as the in-universe explanation for why he doesn't create it during the series.
It is interesting to note that Angel Dust (aka PCP) was one of the "lighter" drugs available in the vending machine. At least accordfing to an EMT friend who watched the show.
a fun game is saying "they'll be fine" every time you see a demon die in the pilot, since death in hell isn't permanent unless it's done with angelic steel
One thing that you have to remember: Those who have been with the show since this released heard the line “now stay tuned” over 4 years ago. We have been waiting for all this time, and it’s finally here! Glad to see people getting into it :)
Been seeing your reactions to Murder Drones, The Amazing Digital Circus, and Hazbin Hotel all over my recommended. So I'm finally watching. And oh my God, I made the right choice! Your reactions are amazing!
So while the broad events themselves are definitely canon, some finer details need to be taken with a grain of salt. For example, Katie Killjoy says there's 9 rings in hell, but we know that's no longer the case, and there's only 7, one for each sin.
Slight correction: Katie mentions the 9 Circles, which are different from the 7 Rings. In Helluva Boss, Imp City for example is shown to be in the Second Circle (as stated on a sign). My understanding is that the 9 Circles are like separated districts of the Pride Ring. It hasn’t been confirmed, but my guess is that Pentagram City is in the First Circle. Then Imp City is in the Second, then likely the Ars Goetia have their palaces in one or more of the other Circles, etc.
@@TheNitpickChick My understanding was that the Pride Ring is Sinner-Only, outside of a few Hellborn Owned and Ran Businesses like the IMP and, well, the big man himself.
@@colt1903 Sort of. Sinners are restricted specifically to the Pride Ring, and can’t travel anywhere else, while Hellborn demons can travel throughout the Rings as they please. However, many Hellborn demons have been shown to still have their homes in the Pride Ring, so it’s not strictly Sinner exclusive there. You can tell which Ring you’re in by the color of the sky. (Red = Pride, Orange = Wrath, Yellow = Gluttony, Green = Greed, Blue (not typical sky blue) = Envy, Deep Purple = Lust, & Pink = Sloth). In Helluva Boss, anytime we’re in Imp City or at Stolas’ palace, the sky is always Red. Same for Andrealphus’ ice palace; red sky. So we know that at least some Ars Goetia live in the Pride Ring, as well as many imps. ☺️
@@TheNitpickChickpart of me wonders if Sinners are even aware of the other rings. Not too versed in Helluva Boss yet, but people in Hazbin tend to just use the word Hell when referring to their domain. Could be semantics or not wanting to confuse people like me who are watching Hazbin first but...
The "Your never fully dressed without a smile" line could be kind of sexist, but for Allistor, he means it. You will almost never see him not smiling, as he feels that smiling presents an air of you being in control and confident about what you are doing.
40:28 well if you didn't know, in the official show, Husk is actually voiced my Keith David. The guy that voiced Dr. Facilier. So that's a little fun thing

You actually kinda resemble Charlie with the blonde hair and the way its styled and all. I hope you can somehow make reactions to the rest of the episodes even if its just clips of stuff and cuts out a lot of things. Would love to hear your take on the rest. As long as you're not putting the full episode on the video its fair use. There's another large youtuber who is currently making videos reacting to the episodes by putting a filter / image over the footage which seems to be fine for them, maybe something like that could work too.

XP
Funny you should mention Princess and The Frog. Husk's new VA in the series was the VA for Dr. Facilier
They also share a lot of character qualities. Gambling, deal making, cards. You can kinda squint and headcanon Dr Facilier to become Husk.

Just to let you know, Niffty is actually not a child, she's on her 20's or something; Besides it, nice reaction, maybe you'll like this series.
She's 21 :)
Vaggie is said to be the youngest, but idk if that’s true anymor
Also Niffty is 22
Yeah, Nifty died in her early twenties, but that was in the 1950s.
@@claraakemi8019 also, vaggie now officially didn't die, since she is a fallen angel
@@alynmoonWell Adam was once a mortal soul and he is an angel.
23:45 Out of all the characters we have been told (by Vivzie on live streams and on Twitter) the most canon information about Angel and Alastor’s lives while they were alive.
The decade some characters died is also known:
Alastor - 1930’s
Angel - 1940’s
Niffty - 1950’s
Husk - 1960’s
(!! Alastor and Angel spoiler warning in case it is eventually mentioned in the show!!)
Angel died in the 1940’s and as we all know he was from New York.
I could be wrong, but I think Vaggie died in the 80s.
Vaggie died in 2014
Spoilers below
Now before you say, what about episode 6? There is a chance she was still human once
@@MoonlarkSpirits (spoilers!!)
That is very possible!! :)
Behold! Spoilers!
I say she died in 2014 as a human, ascended into Heaven… and then got banished after a few years
Of course, you might say but she killed thousands so that’s not possible… but there is a chance she was so good at being a you know what that she managed to kill thousands in just a few years
Isn’t Alastor also creole?
There is also a music video called "Addict" that shows a bit of Angel Dust's life struggles, and a short web comic that shows how he was invited to join the Hotel, both played a big part on why Angel Dust was so loved before the official series even released.
Wasn’t addict replaced by poison in terms of canonicity?
@@amelianyoom9545 Not really replaced since Addict was a fan song that got enough attention to make it canon in some way, but Addict is canon in someway since it just go from a different point of Angel's backstory, and Poison being pretty much the whole thing

Hehe, *web* comic...
@@amelianyoom9545addicted to me seems way earlier so I think both can exist in canon.
It was honestly really nice to see someone watch the first episode without having seen the pilot.
I do think the show is made to be watchable (and understandable) without having seen it but with most people already knowing the pilot it was hard to find someone to test this theory on.
I actually watched episode 1 before I knew about the pilot
@@MoonlarkSpirits me too I saw the first 6 episodes before knowing about the pilot, and loved it
in a weird way, im kinda glad that i got to watch the series before the pilot.
I don’t think the hierarchy of hell is a spoiler… so here is the official hierarchy and power ranking:
1. Lucifer
2. Charlie and Lilith
3. The other 6 deadly sins (appear in Helluva boss)
4. The ars goetia (Best to watch Helluva boss)
5. Overlords (Alastor for example)
6. Sinners
7. Hellborns (Succubi, Fish demons? and more -> Helluva boss)
8. Imps & Hellhounds (also hellborn but lower hellborn)
I thought succubi were a bit higher than the rest of the hellborns
@darkness_hound1375 they are that is why imps and hellborns have their own category... but succubi are the same as Loansharks and I think Jester skeletons (from greed)
I edited it, so it's probably clearer now what I meant
@@kimchi-p31w What I mean is that I thought succubi were higher than loansharks, jester skeletons, etc. But it's most likely I'm wrong, so don't worry about it
Well, 6 deadly sins, since Lucifer is the sin of Pride
This is a hierarchy ranking not a power ranking. There has been no power scaling or ranking since the new show came out and the lore and story had confirmed to have been changed. Most information from the Pilot era and livestreams is no longer confirmed to be canon. Power scaling is nothing but here say and speculation at this point until it is shown in universe or confirmed by a recent source.
Niffty isn't a little girl she's 22 canontically. She's just short because of the demon form she was given.
Yeah but I thought she died as a kid so she never aged
I can't help but laugh every time Angel Dust is messing with the automatic window, it just cracks me up. I love the detail that he died before they existed and so obviously he's fascinated by them. I would be too lol.
Funny how she mentioned “Friends on the Other Side” due to Husker being voiced by Keith David in the main show, who also voiced Dr. Facilier.
I'm glad this remained somewhat canon, because of events that unfold later. Great character growth for someone in particular.
I'd say it's almost entirely canon, seems like very few things have been changed in the series from what was established in the pilot
the post credit scene was added precisely to keep it canon, when it was originally uploaded it was kinda implied that Sir Pentius was killed by Alastor.
Agreed. Especially Elise Lovelock as Charlie, she was amazing.
Also I think it's the only time we actually hear Cherri sing.
I still like the original Angel Dusts voice actor best. New guy does good but.... not as good.
This is why Alastor in hell appears as a Wedigo (a mythical creature that wears a deer skull and eats humans) radio host, and explains his massive fear of dogs.
he has a fear of dogs? when is this shown off?
@@Roach1 It's not true. Fake new.

You already saw episode 4 so there's that with her dialogue of "But that's so meaaaan" when Vaggie told her to make people respect her
No. Its lucifer, his family, the sins, goteia, sinners then imps/hellhounds
@@EpicFableBean Kind of close to what I said, I sometimes mess up since it depends on individual power too, like some Overlords with some demon royalty

The lore and story has confirmed to have been changed since the Pilot and 90% of the public information, including from the livestreams years ago is not longer confirmed to be canon. Here's the canon we know as of right now:
Angels' real name is Anthony. He's from New York and part of an Italian crime family. He's a spider demon because of his families web of crime his older brother Arakinis is also a spider demon in hell, and his twin sister Molly is in heaven but also resembles a spider. He can speak fluent Italian. He died from a drug overdose of Angel dust in the 40s
Alastor was a black radio host from New Orleans (I believe) who practiced Voodoo and loved his mom. He became a murdered and a cannibal for reasons unknown. If I'm not mistaken he can speak French creol. He was mistaken for a deer during hunting season, presuambly while hiding a body and was shot and mulled by hunting dogs in the 30s
Cherri bomb is a little flimsy, but it's thought that she was an Australian anarchist shot down by riot police in the 80s
At the time of the pilot, Vaggie had died via suicide in the 2010s and was a moth demon. That idea has since been abandoned, though.
Nifty is in her 20s, died in the 50s, and originally could speak fluent Japanese
And don’t forget angel dust has a sister in heaven we see in episode 6.

No lie. this is literally my initial reaction to this pilot. Weeby is so damn relatable
Weeby simping for Alastor is my one thread of ace appreciation
I love how you made the reference of "Dr. Facilier" (Villian of Princes and The Frog) Since he's now voicing husk in the show

But keep in mind that some of this information might've been changed since then:
Alastor died in 1933, Angel Dust died in the 1940s, Husk died in the 1970s, Nifty died in the 1950s & Sir Pentious died in the 1880s.
In earliee drafts Vaggie died in the 2010s, but we dont know if that's still true for her modern iterations.
Husk dying that late seems odd considering
I'm joining in on the people saying you need to see Hazbin Hotel's "Addict" video next. Hopefully before continuing the show. Just adds some more context.
Awesome ! glad you are reacting to the pilot and I can't wait for your reaction to the rest of the show 🙌🔥🔥
Both Charlie and Alastor are fans of musicals.
Quite a bit has been changed since the pilot so some of the following may not be canon anymore, but at the time the characters' backstories, as confirmed by Vivzie herself at the time via Tweets and livestreams, were:
- Charlie was born in the 1820s and is the only character in the pilot who is a native of Hell instead of a Sinner.
(Alastor saying the hotel was founded five days ago in his advertisement, Vaggie mentioning that Alastor showed up a week ago, and multiple times they stated that the last extermination was a week ago)
And as for Charlie and her status, it does come from Lucifer, not Lillith.
Angel himself says "crack is expensive" so I guess he does that too xD
@@riccardomosena4162 I guess he does, I'd forgotten about that xD
You should watch HelluvaBoss. It’s in the same universe as Hazbin Hotel. It has a pilot too.
at the end of the pilot i love how alastor just casully asks "who wants some jambalaya" and my first response the first time i watched it was, "yes please"
Fun Fact: Niffty and Husk actually used to be Overlords. Until Husk lost against Alastor at blackjack. and Niffty… We still dont know about her
Niffty wasn't an overlord she was a regular sinner.
Charlie actually has all kinds of power.
She is #2 tier in Hell.
#1 tier is her parents, literally the most powerful beings in Hell, Lucifer and Lilith
#3 tier are the remaining Princes of the Deadly Sins besides Lucifer (pride), Beelzebub (gluttony), Asmodeus (lust), Mammon (greed), Belphegor (sloth), Leviathan (envy), and Satan (wrath, Satan also CORRECTLY identified as seperate from Lucifer).
@@VegetaLF7
In CLASS they're lower. In POWER they're not.
All the common Hellborn... succubi, loan sharks, hellhounds, lazy goats, imps, and whatever hellborn peoples are born of the sins of Greed and Pride (I don't believe any actually spawned of Pride at all... just Charlie. Literally one of a kind.)
They all have equal amounts of power, just different abilities.
Weeby reacting:
Me: focusing on peanut in the background being cute
Same
oh my God yay I’m glad you’re reacting to this. You should do the other episodes now
The amount of plot points you predicted for the show in this one video, holy-
36:35 I think someone like Alastor is allowed to say that, since he ALWAYS smiles . He's not being sexist, he literally believes so for everyone XD
OMG i never noticed "Jeffery's cannibal cooking session" was referring to Jeffery Dahmer 😭
Ironically enough, Charlie is actually stronger than Alastor
For now. If she had made that deal with him, who knows what would happen? I don't.
Vaggie:"WELL, DON'T LET HIM IN!!!!"
Charlie: **proceeds to let him in**
i loved this series so much more then i thought i would angel and alastor are easily my favorite characters the music is amazing and also after respectless hrrrng velvette
16:41 Pausing frames seem accurate 😂😂😂
😢
16:35 that person looks a fallen angel
I hope you really like the episode! Yes the voice actors are different but the pilot is my fave! I do hope you love it
Angel Dust is a nickname for pcp
Which is a hallucinogen
Whereas crack is just a stimulant
The Xs that show up in multiple character designs are locations of the wounds that killed them and sent them to Hell. Don't remember where that was established, might have been Helluva Boss or some side question and answer thing. But that is why it shows up on multiple characters.
Inside Every Demon Is a Rainbow really should've beeen the show's main theme song
Hold your head in shame! To think, a theater major not know musical lyrics to Little Orphan Annie. You're never fully dressed without a smile.
7:34 WAIT WAS HE TALKING ABOUT THE MARTHA FROM HELLUVA BOSS EP 1 IN THIS ? HOLY SHEET THAT’S A MASSIVE CAMEO
So if you ever watch Helluva Boss, two early designs for main characters from it are in the studio audience. There's an early version of Blitz and an early version of Luna at different points.
Stolas is in Vaggie's backstory dump about Alastor as well, or at least some other goetia that looks just like him.
Alastor might be a musical theater fan. "You're Never Fully Dressed Without a Smile" is a song from Annie.
Technically I don't think it's possible for him to have seen Annie unless Hell just has access to movies, but yeah I do believe that's the inspiration
@@brolytriplethreat
I mean, I'm pretty sure Viv stated somewhere that that is his favorite song, so he could've still seen/heard it somewhere. I doubt he would ever watch any of the Annie movies, for obvious reasons, but maybe there was a musical showing of it in Hell? Like OP said, I think he's the kind of guy to enjoy theater.
And since it's set during the stock market crash of 1929, I can see why he would like this musical in particular lol
I like to think that, in reference to it, he named his radio broadcast "The Hour of Smiles"
As good as Amir Talai is, hearing this again really makes me miss Ed Bosco as the Radio Demon. He was so absurdly good.
I’m sad they got ride of black gryph0n
@@Musicalfan69420 me too, but I think the current va does a good job imo.
_"You fucking would, Tom"_ is such a grear quick gag. Fucking kills me every time😂
One thing that you have to remember: Those who have been with the show since this released heard the line “now stay tuned” over 4 years ago.
Pentious is so theatrical I love it
So while the broad events themselves are definitely canon, some finer details need to be taken with a grain of salt.
@@TheNitpickChick Ah, makes sense.
40:30 Huskers voice actor outside of this pilot is Keith David(Dr. Facilier)
I just found your channel today, and while I love your reactions, I keep getting distracted.
10:24 Your kitty has cute little sock feet! ☺️
The "Your never fully dressed without a smile" line could be kind of sexist, but for Allistor, he means it. You will almost never see him not smiling, as he feels that smiling presents an air of you being in control and confident about what you are doing.
I don't think they specify whether the song is geared towards men or women, I think this applies to everyone.
40:28 well if you didn't know, in the official show, Husk is actually voiced my Keith David. The guy that voiced Dr. Facilier. So that's a little fun thing
Hmm.. the orphan joke refers to all the suicides after the stock market crash by the parents not dead orphan. They ended up putting a cage around the top of the Empire State Building to prevent them from jumping, it’s still there.
god i forgot how much i love the pilot
I forgot Angel Dust is a real drug...it's what they used to call PCP in the late '80s. 😉
I thought they called meth angel dust is pcp the same thing what even is pcp
@@Musicalfan69420 What type of drug is PCP?
Chemistry: Phencyclidine, 1-(1-phenylcyclohexyl)piperidine, is a white crystalline powder, which is readily soluble in water or alcohol. PCP is classified as a hallucinogen. PCP is a “dissociative” drug; it induces distortion of sight and sound and produces feelings of detachment.
Guess that's why in comics and media, perps are always hulking out and going berserk. 😉

Watching anime and reading manga is so exhilarating.

Anyone else noticed that Martha was the same name as the mother from episode 1 of Helluva Boss? Could be a coincidence but as a fellow theorist... 👹
"Why I haven't been that entertained since the stock market crash of 1929" I'm using that for my senior quote.
And now it's time to go into Helluva Boss too haha
Charlie and her parents are actually the Top 3 strongest characters. Charlie just doesn’t like to throw her power around.
There are a couple of comics that come before the pilot. There's also at least one music video featuring Angel Dust.
29:00 This is my favorite part to see any reaction to. Peeps really show their real selves when it happens XD
20:29 that subversion of expectation is brilliant.
