You crushed this run. It's unfortunate that RNG wasn't super favorable with the halberd and firestorm, but you recovered really great for a marathon run.
The way Regole and Ashewyn played their commentary off each other through this was absolutely brilliant. I've watched a lot of gdq runs, and this one really sticks out just for the sake of Ashewyn knowing she can tell them to read donations and stuff, and Regole explained his side of things really well too.

I almost didn’t watch this because I’ve seen so many DS speed runs that I thought it couldn’t be anything new but I’ve never seen that Firesage skip before with the elevator, that was awesome Great run!
I think this might have been my favorite run at GDQ ever, both the game and the commentary! Short-ish with under an hour so it doesn't drag on too much, constant action, no downtimes in the gameplay. Regole had great things to say, Queuekyoo had some technical details to add and Ashewyn tied it all together very fluently.
GDQ doesn't feel like GDQ without Regole taking the absolute piss beating DS1, kills it every time Sidenote: Do I spy a tomatoangus (with a silent G) in the background?
I love all the glitchy jank in Dark Souls. In my own playthrough I accidentally killed Centipede Demon because he grabbed me near a wall, let go of me and then fell through the world and died. As a pure melee build without spells I highly appreciated that and had a good laugh on top of that.
36:54 That Duke's skip setup is rad. It reminds me of an OOT setup (particularly the forest escape backup if you miss the Navi dive). I love setups like that. Just input the correct buttons in the correct order. It feels like a cheat code.
I always felt like the mod (Or whatever it is. I watch speedruns I don't do them myself) that makes the Black Knight Halberd a guaranteed drop should just be how the game works normally haha. Having fully missable weapons tied to a percentage drop on a non-respawning enemy never felt nice to me even during normal play. It's been a while but I think you can farm them out of the game's final area where they DO respawn, but that's like... the very end of the game haha. Gimme my rad, heavy-ass weapons! Also, thank you so much for the run and good commentary!

I watched hundreds of DS1 speed- and challengeruns and i can't get enough of it. And yes, the Firesage elevator skip is so cool, i was speechless when i first saw it.
Its at +5 and RTSR is active. He also moveswaps the running attack to the one of the rapier so the running attack hits twice but uses the damage of the halberd.

agreed. In contrast lies of p just gives you guaranteed weapon drops.
Ive always found percentage drops to be dumb in games especially if it's tied to trophies.
