  • One of the very first edgings or borders I learned in crochet was the simple Scalloped Edging, or Shell Stitch Border. It's easy, feminine, and adds just the right touch!

One of the best tutorials I’ve seen. I’ve been doing crochet since I was 11, I’m 24 now and never really was interested in borders until now. Perfectly explained and straight to the point!

Thank you! I’m in my 50’s and until now my brain just wouldn’t let me accept anything other than a basic crochet stitch, and definitely not the names of different stitches. Now it seems much easier.
I think the reason I’m able to learn easier now is because I don’t have kids or work to distract me.

Really useful to see how to fudge the odd number of stitches! I've watched a lot of instruction videos but what to do when your stitch numbers are unpredictable is great. As a beginner my sampler blanket is very uneven and it's so good to see it will still look nice with this shell border - thank you!

Oh my gracious! I just learned this edge a few hrs ago. I hadn't any idea how to make it fit the end of my scarf.. Common sense kicked in and I did almost exactly what you've just shown..however I got very flustered because it didn't come strings the corner as I thought it should. After an hr and a half and many many...MANY DIFFERENT combos to get it right, I jettisoned the whole thing for the night!!! I've nut been able to sleep thinking about what I was doing wrong and picked up device to see another edging recipe ;-) that might be easier to get a nice balanced design with. Low and behold..your video was just on top when I opened YT..Thank you Lord! And thank you for sharing. I'm using a Berants blanket(thick yarn). Still not sure scalloped edge will work but now I'm excited that I'll be able to sleep..LOL a lil bit anyway, as it's 3 am. Then I'll give it another go. The many ways I'd tried to configure never come together at the corner..at least in looking nice getting around the corner.having your hero under my hook(belt) giggle I'm very hopeful I'll pull it off..off to sleep a bit BUT again thank you for the details! B-)
