Wonderful. Thank you.
I make my own sketchbooks out of unused papers - gelli prints, paint roll off pages, book pages, fabric, envelopes, any paper that is lying around. That way there are no totally blank white pages.
fabulous x
Great idea, we would love to view even one of your favorite hand made Sketch Books.
I love this ❣️. What a great idea !
I discovered this technique too because I wanted to reuse sketchbook pages that had some writing on it. This opened up so many new possibilities, including recycling entire old notebooks into mixed media journals. (Sometimes I let bits of text show through and that looks very interesting as well.)
I ended up completing one of those sketchbooks so much faster than any other! There's something about recycling that eases my perfectionism.
To be able to draw would certainly help me artistically. Unfortunately, I cannot draw at all. But, seeing this I now realize ink lines abstraction would be similar. ❤
You are so right! Drawing helps but isn't 100% needed. Learn to lean on what you are good at instead.
Brilliant as usual Louise! You are a bottomless pool of creativity and talent shining the possibilities for JOY to us all. So grateful that you continue to share. Be well!
Thank you so much!
really enjoyed the loose, organic feel of this - both with the 'wobbly' linework (and inaccurate, according to you, lol) as well as the whole panoply of media used, but also the feel of the art on top of the paper pieces, the layers... I just love the whole energy of this. Thanks for sharing!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Really loved this! Thank you 😊
You are so welcome!
OMG I took the taster course in part for this reason! The Taster Course has been amazing for me in so many dimensions of my life. Thank you.
You're so welcome x
This yet again, an idea that encourages all of us❤
This ticks all the boxes for me, sketchbooking, working on collaged pages, realism thats a bit distorted, and manifestation! Thank you so much for sharing your process.
Always been "afraid" of collage even tho I love it. The limitations challenge took away a lot of my fear, and so now I feel better about using all the bits & pieces I've been saving up for years. I'll be practicing in my own journal very soon. Thanks, Louise!
You are so welcome and happy to hear you are trying it out. ❤
This is a good idea. I usually do abstract paintings but I’ve been thinking of doing some big drawings of my dog.
You should! Just go for it. 😀
This is right up my alley. LOVELOVELOVE the texture!
I love this concept 👏😀
ah this looks great Louise, what a great idea, love this. I am curious about you working in the building. do you mean you would move your studio to the building to work your art practice. I love old buildings. so inspiring, I’ve been watching you for ever so I know you have a new studio at home.
Very much enjoyed this sketchbook entry. Cool!!!
Just love watching you work. Thank you.
I love this because I enjoy creating semi-realistic drawings and art
Glad you enjoy it!
Brilliant idea. adding texture.
Great idea for more interesting journalling...thankyou Louise
Awesome, I have some sketchbooks with awful paper and pages I started but don’t like and now I know I don’t have to rip the pages out
Yes!! Glad you enjoyed it!
Love this technique for exploration, I love collage in any form. I will definitely do this today! Been really enjoying your Taster course, thank you very much for all you share and I look forward to more. ❤
Yay, thank you!
Awesome suggestion! I’m going to try quirky drawings in my collage journal!
I loved watching this. I’m a great admirer of your drawing ability, which is icing on the cake of your many creative ideas! Your sketchbooks are works of art in themselves, as well as serving whatever purpose you made them for.
Thank you so much 😀
I love how this developed and will try this later. Did you get the building?
fabulous!! ✨
I've been covering up notes etc I no longer need in a small notebook, using gesso and collage and then writing new stuff on top (mostly thoughts about art). Now I'll extend the idea and add drawings too - thank you 😊
So fun!
Having just done today's FYJ taster course assignment, I'm delighted to find yet another inspiring idea from you Louise. This one allows you to begin drawing without the 'fear of the blank page' . Really enjoying the course even with the challenges it throws up... if I can push through them, I can push through other troublesome aspects of my life! Thank you x :)
Wonderful!
A great idea, thank you.
You are so welcome!
Love your podcast btw, a quick question, what do you use to stick the paper down is it an acrylic gel medium? I guess matte. Thank you
Love this drawing…did you reference a photo or is this from memory?
No, from my own photos
Hi Louise! Do you use a photo source for the building or is it from memory?
It's my own photo x
Did you work from a photograph?
