Thank you!! I have been having trouble with my babyless making a skin fade, I couldn’t tell if it was a fade blade because its still quite round compared to my wahl trimmer/fader. I will switch to taper blade, and use it for fading upper areas.
Would the blade type (taper vs fade) make a difference if you are using combs/guards? Wouldn’t the base shape of the comb/guard determine the action of the “c-scoop” action?
That is correct that when guards are on - they cut similar but not exactly the same. Angle of blades is different so the hair feeding into it won't be identical. You would mostly see the difference cutting on the scalp without guards during the tighter part of the fade so the c scoop very much matters there
I'm new to barbering and I prefer the fade blade , alot of people say taper blade is easier but for me the fade blade was easiest 👍 thank you and keep up the good work ☺
Hi Matt! Appreciate the feedback ! It’s def true, people will get used to the one that works best for them. I have friends on the Babyliss team who all prefer different blades as highly skilled as they are. Whatever works for you, will do the job your favorite way. 🙌🏼
Fade masters aren’t for beginners the blade is Thinner so there’s a smaller margin for error .. Not the easiest to clean up if you’re not experienced using it …wahl magic clip & seniors and babyliss fx would be the easier choice
Besides preference, is there a need for both? Like would there be any benefit to fading from skin to a zero guard with the fade blade, then switching to the taper for the rest of the way?
It’s tough for me to choose because everyone cuts so differently. It’s really what you would use it for. I’ve bounced back n forth between the two blades even before i understood the difference years back when i started. But If someone is super new at fading i would recommend a taper blade over fade blade. Hopefully that answers your question
@@_allcap I use the babyliss pro clipper with the fade blade to blend. I use the wahl senior with the fade blade zero gapped for removing the 0 guide line.

I think I found it with a little research… the FX801R was the taper blade that came with the ltd edition? The gold taper blade in this video looks like FX802G. Same blade style, different material (stainless vs titanium)???
So basically a fade blade requires more flick of the wrist/technique, .with that out the way, which taper comes out better, the fade blade taper or taper blade taper?
Fade blade is the way I had both and I just cannot erase the lines with the wedge blade no matter what I tried with fade blade I erase all lines without effort and fading is wayyy quicker
