Hey Eddie, I DEFINITELY AGREE with the guy who wrote in and said he puts lines in with the taper blade and takes them out with the fade blade. I use the same system and my fades now come out the blurriest they have ever been and a lot quicker. Putting them in with the taper allows you to make soft lines that you can easily take out with the fade blade but knowing how to angle your fade blade with the extra lengths of hair from using the taper allows you the ability to really blur the hell out of your guides
Great job on the video. I have been a barber for 34 years. And to tell you the truth. I just turn my machine on and just let it rip. Never knowing the difference between a fade blade or a taper blade. Thank you for explaining it in such great detail.
Definitely Ive been using Taper blade way more lately. I was so used to using a fade blade for all my work, but sometimes there were little lines that were tough to take out when it comes to 1 fades. Now I only use taper blade for most my work, but only use fade blade to blend from 0.5 to skin or set the 0.5 guideline for 0.5 fades. Also use the fade blade for clipper over comb or shaping afros.
Got a wahl senior and do my own hair. These vids help me so much to get it as good as a barber. I now have short hair but when it was longer the only problem for me was clipper over comb lol, thats harddddd when you do that with your own hair. But it always looked awesome and people didnt even knew i did it myself 🤷♂️ even barbers were like what lol. So thanks for the effort, not only from you but the many youtubers that teach everything barber related 👌🏾👌🏾 apreciate it
Taper blades are great because they leave softer guides and are forgiving. A fade blades cut closer and are great if u struggle taking the skin line out. Ive used both and i usually switch between both when i get bored and wanna switch it up
I usually only use my fade blade for taking out the trimmer line up to lever open, but not typically with guards. When using guards I'd rather use a taper blade. Thanks for this video, Eddie.
Anyone ever put a taper blade on a magic crunch blade bottom? Idk if it’s Possible I fee I read someone say they did this. Actually wahl precision blade like that fusion blade that a lot of barbers overlook bc they think it's not a professional blade bc it comes on home clippers. I've always love how they blend in hair so smoothly, very underrated blade. Oster fast feeds blade also are similar as well and we all know how they blend. GREAT VIDEO!!!
OK, I have been working on a mannequin at home to strengthen muscle memory, and I forgot to bring my clippers home from work. I have a Wahl at home clipper, the weight of a brick, which has the precision blade on it, and could not believe how nicely I could blend from skin into no guard open! I’m laughing because it worked so well, and on mannequin skin at that, I’m gonna take that blade to the shop with me, thnx for the input!!!
I use both.. or I mix it up in one haircuts. I might begin each guide open with the taper and use the fade close and mid way to complete the fade. If you scoop right guide are softer. Depends on the hair as well you might only you the taper for the whole cut. I use whichever blade when it presents itself of needs..
I Agree,,taper blade def more forgiving... I use all three blades,,the fusion blade is my go-to for overall use,,i use the fade blade for shorter hair cuts because it cuts closer you can still achieve clean detailed fades that pops, the fade blade is also better for coarse hair,,,the taper blade is good for,,,tapering, liter fades and blending, also for tight compact fading and good for fading and blending more thin grained hair🤷🏽
@@UA-camBarberAcademy Are you using the deep tooth blade that comes with the taper blade? Or have you kept the original fine tooth blade along with the taper?
I’ve used both and still continue to use both. I like the fade blade for getting the skin line out as well as detailing, and the taper blade for fading. They both are definitely needed in the Arsenal. And once them gamma dubs come out, I will be all set!!!!
I went from the Wahl Baldfader to the Legends to the Magic Clip. The Magic Clip fade blade cut lower than all the previous blades and I really liked that. Then I bought the StyleCraft Apex which also has the fade blade you demonstrated in this video, but that goes even lower than the Magic Clips. I believe these can easily take out a trimmer line, or even a bald line from a shaver.

I have it installed on my JRL gold 2020cc and I'm loving it. Quiet and super clear blurry and fast fades
I started off with the fade blade, and then switched to the taper blade. I found it easy to blend with taper blade all around, but found that the fade blade required more precision. More precision than I could muster initially. Now, I used a fade blade primarily, but specifically use guards that have more of a curve to them. I have the StyleCraft mythic with the JRL premium Guards. Due to the guards being curved, I don't put in harsh guidelines, but I still have the precision of a fade blade. Works for me

The only problem i have with the fusion blade is that due the thinness off the blade sometimes it can buck down in the scalp. And it can be painful
I just put a taper on my boosted with a deep tooth(not slim i have no idea is there is a difference) . And i have a senior (fade blade) should i put a fusion on it or keep a fusion on it long-term?
If that’s the only one you have with the taper blade, I would keep the taper blade on it. If you wanted to be your main workhorse, you could put the faper blade on it and it would work great
The video was really informative bro 🔥💯💈
should i zero gap all blades or only zero on taper or fade blade?
Having trouble finding the fade blade for purchase. Is it the short tooth?
When is the Fusion blade coming ?
That China leadtime is killer.. ;)
I got that fusion blade but IDK I think I like better the original blade for the gamma ergo
Where can we find the taper blade for the StyleCraft Ergo's?
Amazon bro I just got mine
@@UA-camBarberAcademy Is there some estimated date when they will be available separately? It takes so long since they announce it would be possible to buy those blades...I can't wait..
Do you prefer the slim deep tooth cutting blade or the shallow tooth cutting blade to use with the taper blade? What's your preference?
@@UA-camBarberAcademy you're the man bro.. you always respond to every comment (at least that I've ever made). We respect that. Thanks 🙌🏼💪🏽
I give it to x-ergo, these clippers are powerful, reliable and make fading easy. I have absolute alphas and they work good but the x-ergo is much better clippers it makes its easy and fast to fade and cut hair.
I want to buy a surker k9c cordless, and replace the blade with a wahl fade blade. Do you think surker is a good cut?
I currently have an andis fade master that is 5 years old and works perfectly fine, I just want to switch to cordless and I dont feel it's worth paying $300 for the andis cordless.
