  • Have you used a taper blade on your clipper? Well after 20 years of barbering I can say most of that time I did not. This caused me to force myself to use one for a few weeks and WOW. In this video you will learn the difference and maybe I can convert you to a taper blade user as well.

    Hey Eddie,
I DEFINITELY AGREE with the guy who wrote in and said he puts lines in with the taper blade and takes them out with the fade blade. I use the same system and my fades now come out the blurriest they have ever been and a lot quicker. Putting them in with the taper allows you to make soft lines that you can easily take out with the fade blade but knowing how to angle your fade blade with the extra lengths of hair from using the taper allows you the ability to really blur the hell out of your guides

Got a wahl senior and do my own hair. These vids help me so much to get it as good as a barber. I now have short hair but when it was longer the only problem for me was clipper over comb lol, thats harddddd when you do that with your own hair. But it always looked awesome and people didnt even knew i did it myself 🤷‍♂️ even barbers were like what lol. So thanks for the effort, not only from you but the many youtubers that teach everything barber related 👌🏾👌🏾 apreciate it

Definitely Ive been using Taper blade way more lately. I was so used to using a fade blade for all my work, but sometimes there were little lines that were tough to take out when it comes to 1 fades. Now I only use taper blade for most my work, but only use fade blade to blend from 0.5 to skin or set the 0.5 guideline for 0.5 fades. Also use the fade blade for clipper over comb or shaping afros.

I’m not a barber but I have been cutting hair for years. I have two sons and I cut their hair regularly but I always just used a Wahl color guard or something like that. Now I’ve become somewhat of a clipper nerd, and I bought my first cordless, a gamma protege by the way, thanks to you. Anyway, a couple months ago I broke a tooth on my Wahl blade. I had sharpened it and kept it oiled and it’s worked great for years. I went to replace it and bought a KDS fade blade, but noticed it was a little different to what I had before on the Wahl so I thought, oh maybe it was a taper blade? So I bought one of those and it too was different so what I realized is the old Wahl was sort of an in between maybe? The face plate is as thin as the fade blade, but has just a slight angle, maybe 20 degrees, sort of like a taper blade.
The taper blade that comes on the protege is nice! I thought it would take some getting used to, but it left my youngest sons fine hair tapered beautifully. I only cut him down to a 1/2 guard at the bottom, on a drop fade, so there’s a large blending area, and I’m really impressed by it. I can’t wait to buy the fusion, a.k.a faper blade, but I can’t find them. I went ahead and ordered the black taper blade for my gamma for now. I’m sure it’s going to be great too.

I went from the Wahl Baldfader to the Legends to the Magic Clip. The Magic Clip fade blade cut lower than all the previous blades and I really liked that. Then I bought the StyleCraft Apex which also has the fade blade you demonstrated in this video, but that goes even lower than the Magic Clips. I believe these can easily take out a trimmer line, or even a bald line from a shaver.

Now I got for 5-6 months the jrl with taper blade on... Everything is easy for me, on 0+ lines, but between 0 lines and skeleton I still need the fader blades to create a soft fade. You have right in everything you said. I will test also the fusion blade to make a difference. Thanks man !💪🏼👍

Hi Eddie, Great video. I also love the taper blade for fading. I've put a taper blade on my Magic Clips to pair with the crunch cutting blade and it works fantastically well for fading, and super fast. I use the Fast Feed (or Super ZR) for the lower part of the fade which blends into the taper blade extremely easily. Been a barber for over 30 years now and used to use exclusively detachables (which I do still use) but love trying new things and experimenting/playing around with equipment. New Sub 😃

Man for me. The fade blade is the best For can finish a fade faster with a fade blade than with a taper blade. I like the blend that the taper blade gives on some texture but for the most part the Gamma Italia fade blade ris the best blade I've ever had. I have it installed on my JRL gold 2020cc and I'm loving it. Quiet and super clear blurry and fast fades

I Agree,,taper blade def more forgiving...
I use all three blades,,the fusion blade is my go-to for overall use,,i use the fade blade for shorter hair cuts because it cuts closer you can still achieve clean detailed fades that pops, the fade blade is also better for coarse hair,,,the taper blade is good for,,,tapering, liter fades and blending, also for tight compact fading and good for fading and blending more thin grained hair🤷🏽

Hi, I have been fading haircuts for the last 6 months and have grown a passion for barbering. I really like your tutorials and how you explain how to fade. Can I send you a photo of the clipper and trimmer I'm using and if you could give me some tips since sometimes I don't really get the fades right and makes me unsatisfied. We also do not have very good barbers tools sold in the country and would really need help in getting my hands on a better barbers set.

I was all about the fade blade but I dropped my clipper and had to swap the blade to the only spare I had which was a taper blade and I’ve never looked back.

Hi, is there a link for the taper and fusion blade that will fit the ergos? I’ve seen links for the taper blade but it says it only fits the alphas

I'm wondering what kind of blade comes on the ergos. It just says gamma Italia Plus I believe. But what I'm looking at is a fapor blade which I assume is the fusion blade?

The 'fusion' blade is actually equivalent to what you would call the curved fade blade, found on the babliss fx,,its thinker than the fade blade but not as thick as the taper blade

I noticed when u were talking about the taper blade, u said u put guidlines with it closed and remove the line open? Isnt it supposed to be other way around?

I have the x ergo with that taper blade… if I want to change blade. You think its better fade or fusion blade?I mean if I take fusion I see mutch difference or it would be similar with the taper blade?

Hey Eddie! Under your white board did you draw a red little face two 👀 and a 👃😂 just looks like it and I know your always looking in the background of pics 😂. Great Depth Dive into the taper the fade and the fusion blades and what’s forgiving in the blade world!! You went deep!! 💯

I started off with the fade blade, and then switched to the taper blade. I found it easy to blend with taper blade all around, but found that the fade blade required more precision. More precision than I could muster initially. Now, I used a fade blade primarily, but specifically use guards that have more of a curve to them. I have the StyleCraft mythic with the JRL premium Guards. Due to the guards being curved, I don't put in harsh guidelines, but I still have the precision of a fade blade. Works for me

What about the Faper blade? Also do you just keep 2 of the same clipper with one with a fade/fusion blade and then another with the taper? You’re not swapping blades during the haircut right??

I have the alphas with the fusion blade and I love it. I just bought the saber and I hate the fade blade. I’m definitely team fusion. I put my hard line and I never have issues taking that line out with my alphas. Ever!
