Yes, it works. Even though you are standing in a semi-kitchen the video has an aura of polish. You're presentation matches with the music and the setting fades away. Without the music there would be a strange incongruent contrast with the setting.
@@awalton9024haha, thanks. I’m just moving into a new apartment so it’s a little chaotic here right now but I wanted to keep making videos whatever else is going on
Classic English wear, western workwear, and American prep are the only styles I wear and do mix some styles with each other. I never knew I was subconsciously imitating Ralph Lauren. I'll have to pay more attention to him and his brand. Blue jeans with boots or suede chukkas, a rugby or polo shirt and a Barbour or guncheck tweed jacket are my go to daily wear. A real three in one!
I am an almost 60 year-old man, an I really enjoy your videos. It is so refreshing to see a young man helping to elevate men's true style rather than focusing on fast fashion! Congrats on your channel, and keep the great advice coming
I am a Millennial, but thank you for teaching Gen Z and Millennials both on how to dress better. Our generations need this motivation and education badly. You inspire a nicer esthetic, and you inspire dignity. Thank you. ✝️
As a fellow millennial, thanks for motivating the next generation. The generation before us absolutely dogged the hell out of us for years and I told myself I would try to not treat them the way those older folks treated us. Gonna give good folks the support I wish we had gotten
I'm a 67 year old man living in new jersey. Whenever I get to manhattan which is quite often I always stop at ralph's flagship stores on 71 street and madison. They are so inspirational I I highly recommended.
For me I find what works best for me is a blend of J. press, Brooks Brothers, and Ralph Lauren. It’s timeless elegance in pieces I’ve had for forty years that pair seamlessly with something I bought just yesterday. I was 17 the Year Ralph Lauren launched his business so therefore I have on a very real sense and personal level grown up with him. I’m lucky to have seen his evolution as a designer and style influencer first hand over the years. I must commend you on your taste and personal style, it’s heartwarming to see a young man who appreciates and values great style and the art of being a gentleman. Someone who will carry on this tradition long after Ralph and I and others like us are gone.
As a Gen-X member I must say thank-you for such an entertaining and enlightening channel. Ralph Lauren was the epitome of style in my era and a huge influence on my own personal taste. Kind regards.
Great video, I would always pick timeless style over fashion. For example, the polo shirt hasn't changed since Mr Lacoste made it the 1920s, and it's still popular to this day.
You haven't seen how folks in Texas dress, especially Texas rangers. The jackets with denim is almost a staple down there. And has been since the dawn of time.
I have always been drawn to RL, to the point where my wardrobe is way too top heavy with RL pieces/garments. On another note, I absolutely love your presentation style. Keep up the fantastic work!
Thank you again for another great video on this style icon. I enjoyed this one just as much as the first one. I’d like to see one on Gianni Agnelli who is considered the godfather of style. But I’m sure you already know that. Cheers!!🙏🏼💙👊🏼
I am a Gen X, so older than your demographic. I suppose I would say my preference is classic American style. Oxford button downs, grey flannel, chinos or khaki. Also, in the last 5 years, I have gotten away from anything with big logos. Brand wise, I like Brooks Brothers, some Ralph Lauren, LL Bean and Lands End. Though some might view this as boring, I think it works for me.
Let’s get real here. Ralph Lauren is, and was an extremely handsome man, always in shape with a terrific physique, perfectly tailored clothes and tons of confidence. You could literally wear anything and make it look stylish.
I love a great deal of the clothing Lauren makes, but I've never cared for the way he dressed. That being said, I appreciate the thought he puts into his personal style, even if it's not my style. Also, I like the background music.
Interesting video. I recommend to those who’ve never heard of him, check out Doug Bihlmaier. He’s worked for RL almost all of his life, and is a style icon in his own right.
Dear Gent, Something you didn't mention about Ralph Lauren is that when you are at his social level no one is going to argue with your dress sense. If I were to go out wearing a dinner jacket over denims, I'd get sectioned. Frank.
Could you do a video about eyeglasses? I’m eager to enhance my intellectual look and would appreciate some recommendations for stylish eyeglasses, even though I don’t actually need them. I’m currently shopping for glasses but I’m not sure which style would suit me best. I’m aiming for an ‘old money’ look that pairs well with turtlenecks and suits for lecturing at University, something versatile and sophisticated. Excellent video as always!
I have quite a few Ralph Lauren jackets and shirts. Comfort and fit is key. I am more into English country and American prep. I am very comfortable in a tweed jacket. Fashion is fleeting style is timeless. Sorry but not a fan of jeans with Black tie. Great video my friend. Cheers Ron
I much appreciate Ralph Lauren's clothing...however, if I had to define and describe my personal style and taste when it comes to men's clothes I would say I consider myself to have a blended aesthetic, my wardrobe consists of vintage pieces as well as contemporary style barring anything that falls under the category of being trendy! The background music was pleasurable.
Living in Miami means casual warm weather duds. I bought Ralph Lauren Polo short sleeve shirts almost exclusively for 33 years because they're worth it. You get a style bump of street cred but the essence of those shirts is not that. Their quality cannot be topped in the hundred buck range. Sometimes they'll last me and keep looking great without fading or sagging for10 years in hot weather with blazing sun. The problems with buying them began when I moved to South America. There is no legit store for them in my city so I began ordering them on line and what I got was a rude awakening as to authenticity, fit and durability. I'm flooded with fakes and even from Amazon which normally I'd swear by. I can't be bothered to try to return them because of the hassle involved in doing that here. I just move on a bit more disappointed and cynical than before. Amazon really needs to tighten up the ship in this regard.
We develop personal style over many years. Trial and error. Classic designs last the test of time. You do not need a lot of clothes or shoes. Donate what no longer suits your personal style. I am not a fan of tweed. I have one that I can wear when it gets cold. Otherwise it is wool. A couple of linen blazers for summer. These can be worn with contrasting trousers or a very similar color for a monochromatic look. Crew neck sweaters can be your friends.
The average man is a _completely_ different animal than Ralph Lauren. Trying to emulate him would almost be as difficult as trying to emulate Marilyn Monroe.
Make him Ralph "Smith" and put him in that tux and jeans and we laugh as we pass him by. His head is too big, his shoulders too narrow and that confidence is spelled "$". Sure its personal preference but being outlandish only works if you have the bank account to be awed. Hero worship is so passe". Be you, it's easier and authentic.
Gents, do you like the background music?
This is my first time trying it, so please hit reply and let me know - yes or no?
The background music is elegant.
Yes, the background music is definitely working, for reasons I can't explain it adds a certain elegance to an already elevated video quality.

When you discuss Ralph's style, you can't get any better than jazz. Bravo.

He’s certainly not the only one who does it, but combing these styles is not the norm and it shows a powerful sense of personal style

Well done. How can anyone not admire Ralph Lauren. Just look at the Count Trossi Mercedes Benz he owns. Mind blowing.👍

Can confirm. Blazer on jeans is part of the business casual dress code down here.
I need to get down to Texas and see these stylish gents for myself!
And don’t forget about the plaid button down. It’s part of the Texas uniform where we live
Yes love the piano. Suits the video
Well done Gent Z. An excellent tribute to the man. Ralph's philosophy is correct. It may be applied to art and music too, but there is so much more.
As a Gen-Z, 22 year old girl, Ralph Lauren is by far my favourite designer brand. The dressees 😍❤️
I have always been drawn to RL, to the point where my wardrobe is way too top heavy with RL pieces/garments.

Great video! Can you do Tom Ford next?
Ralph is the Walt Disney of style
Excellent video, thank you (enjoyed the music also).
That black tie with jeans combo is one of the worst things I've ever seen. Where's the eye bleach?
Very good information and insights. I really like this channel!

You should do a video on Aragorn and why he's am epitome of healthy masculinity and his traits.

hey @Gent Z . you should do a video on alain delon’s style or bryan ferry. that would be awesome! keep making awesome videos mate

Giorgio Armani & Tom Ford too.

I think you can dispense with background music altogether. It doesn’t add anything to the presentation.
I don't care who you are, but tuxedo, black tie and jeans is a hanging offence. Totally unacceptable. Enjoy your vids.
Not my favorite look either, I must say
Ralph Lauren style philosophy is similar to Bruce Lee's fighting style , no style, a mixture of everything expressed authenticly through your life.
