If you don't want to make your domain unnecessarily large to avoid computing unneeded empty space: since your splashes are not very high, you don't have to make the domain that high - it is not necessary to cover the ice cubes completely in their starting position. It does not matter if they start falling from outside the fluid domain.
@@artistsmind The crown splash wasn't my point. In the video he says you have to make sure the domain covers the effector objects, but it is not and so you don't need such a large domain.
I recently tried my first fluid simulation, and it worked nicely. I just wish my computer could handle them better, so I guess I'll have to wait until I can try it. Onto the list of things to try at some point it goes. Still an awesome video! Thank you fir your tutorials.
Instead of using the Transparent BSDF with the mix shader, you can fix the issue with the material by recalculating the normals of the glass. It looks heaps better too 1. Select the glass. 2. Go to edit mode 3. Select all 4. Choose Mesh>Normals up the top 3. Recalculate outside
@@ScarecrowWho_ Beautiful result, thanks for the video. Also reducing the IOR of the glass material will get rid of some of that refractive and reflective weirdness
I am having the same problems as some others here: The liquid is "running out" of the glass... seems like in the video you cut a step from your workflow. One question that arises is: Is the liquid object also a rigid body? Looks great, though!
@@RobertWildlingI found a way. So, you click on the cup and go to fluid in the physics properties. Click on collision as the effector type and make the surface thickness 0.5
Maybe one could just take down the resolution divisions in the physics tab>fluid>settings. And rather change viscosity in the viscosity settings in the same module.
for the people who struggles about liquid leaking from sides of the object; pick the little cube on your liquid domain in object mode and make resolution number 64. Thats how i fixed.
I don't know about you, but to me the water doesn't stay inside the glass, and I've redone every step, the glass has the rigid body as the effector, and the part we're not rendering made out of the glass as well. So theoretically it should contain the liquid made. Why does it come out of the glass as if it were pierced sideways (to be clear) ?
if your ice cube doesnt work after you hit cloud, make sure you get out of edit mode back to object mode, then you should see the displacement on your ice cube.
