Great video. When you hear it from German engineers themselves that NIO drives better than most (if not all) other cars on the road, based on their experiences, that speaks volume.
@@johdo9953 According to a study, NIO was rated top automaker in China. To quote an article, "The vehicle quality study calculates the number of failures per 100 new vehicles. The industry average is 135.Nio scored 49 failures per 100 vehicles - the lowest for any car brand in China and much lower than the industry average. A lower score implies a higher ranking for the brand." Now, who knows how much truth is behind this particular study, but if it's true, then that is one of many other indicators the kind of potential NIO could have. Is it all advertising and marketing? I don't believe so. A healthy dose of skepticism is not bad practice though.
@@LovesHighGround How do you know the study is not paid by the advertiser or NIO itself? To be fair, it's a nice car, but I would not count on one person or a channel saying it's better than most (German) cars. Like Tesla, it will show up on the sales number down the road. Tesla wasn't liked or recognized by everyone when it built the first roadster before the model S. Similar to Toyota, it took a long time to build the brand before it launched the Lexus brand. It will be a long uphill battle before NIO can find a spot outside China. The sales number outside China is going to be very insignificant for quite some time.
What I like about this car and it’s big SUV brother, is that it’s designed by an international group of automotive engineers and designers. People who are not only passionate about electric cars, but are on a mission to change the world by promoting further adoption of electric vehicles. It’s incredible to see the amount of technology that is present in these cars
An outstanding car, and one to put NIO on the map for sure. The ET5 model due for release in Sept looks equally amazing. Great video, thanks for uploading.
I agree, but i dont think that it is only BMW, Audi and Mercedes that should be worried. I mean, this car makes the Tesla's look really old and outdated. Honestly if Tesla is not going to be run over by the Chinese in every category, they will have to something to the dated design of their current models. Once you could forgive the way Tesla's looked, because it was what made people recognise them as Tesla's but now there is just so many cars that looks way more modern than the Tesla. Tesla's only redeeming feature is their "self drive" stuff, but honestly, their lead on that field is diminishing for every day that goes by, and their FSD which they have sold lots of cars with the promise for this in the future, is still not anywhere near completion. I would not be surprised if the Chinese are going to overtake Tesla, even in that field.
What's really impressive was that the ET7 was only revealed to the public in Jan 2021, that's just 14 months ago, and it is almost ready for customer delivery already. ET5 was only revealed 3 months ago, and may launch within a year of its announcement. That pace is incredible.
Although not mentioned in the review, the audio sound system is the best in any production vehicle. The ET7’s audio system comes standard with 23 speakers and a total output of 1000W. The four primary channels use a 3-way speaker array which features dedicated tweeter, mid-tone and bass driver, a subwoofer plus four overhead speakers. Combining the leading active tuning algorithm and Dolby Atmos’ excellent detail and clarity, the ET7 provides an immersive listening experience beyond users’ expectation.
The best audio sound system in any production vehicle and with 1KW power? Where did you get this info from? How do you know it's the best? What other systems has it been compared with? I'm very Interested as the Mark Levinson system in my lexus is outstanding and I use to do sound systems a number of years ago. If I were to go electric then Nio is the only car I'd go for simply because of the swappable battery, no need for a charger. Brilliant idea. Just hope it comes to England and they have lots of battery swapping hubs.
@@sydsnott5042 The battery swap is actually not a brilliant idea for the company itself. They will have to build batteries they never sell in a car, they will just be there to be swapped. That’s such a unnecessary hit in the number of EVs they can produce, this will slow them down as long as Batteries are the bottleneck of BEVs. So at least until 2030….
NIO is an AMAZING EV company, battery swap is brilliant. Beautiful cars inside and out, keeping LIDAR in my opinion will be better than just cameras. China's market for this market alone is like nothing else. $NIO
Maybe after 2028 or 2030, It depends on that China has surpassed the US in economy and science technology, US believed that restricting such means would no longer work,At that time, it will open the door to import high-end products from China

Tesla had to build a cooling system so reliable and robust it could handle a wider variety of conditions from weather to driver habits but still guarantee a 8 year 150,000 mile warranty so the battery can't ever be allowed to overheat. Why isn't NIO track racing any of their production cars?
I do wonder about the definition of ‘sports’ car with the advent of EV’s. Sports car used to mean a faster, harder sprung ride for flatter cornering, bigger brakes and _noisier_ exhaust sound. I agree that Sports+ is something you will rarely use; when showing the acceleration to a friend, etc. not an everyday use. Looks like a nice car.
IMHO a sports car is a 2 seater (or 2+2 at the most), LIGHT WEIGHT car optimized for handling, not comfort or carrying capacity. There really isn't an EV for sale right now that meets this definition.

A gorgeous car, I like what Nio are doing. One slight clarification: all auto glass is laminated with a thin sheet of plastic glued in the middle. I think it is so quite because it had double glazing like some of European brands have, such as Mercedes. Unlaminated glass shatters in an accident, laminated safety glass doesn’t.
It'll be very interesting to see how well this sells in Europe. Priced keenly, it sounds like it should sell like hot cakes. Great job by Elliot, as always. Loved the chic bobble hat. 🙂

Similar to but not quite Passats. Just a note!

Cannot wait until Nio offers their cars for sale in the United States. The battery swapping ability is very intriguing. Do not need to install a level 2 charging system at home. No worries about battery degradation, one will always have the latest battery technology. No longer have to wait 30 mins to charge an EV. Brilliant.

Great video. When you hear it from German engineers themselves that NIO drives better than most (if not all) other cars on the road, based on their experiences, that speaks volume.
You know this is advertising, right? It still needs to be proven by the sales number.
Has China condemned Putins Genocide of the Ukrainian people?

It’s incredible to see the amount of technology that is present in these cars

GO NIO !!! ET7 is just the beginning of an amazing journey.
Nio seem to be a company to watch. Great episode. Thanks Elliot & FC team
@@JohnDoe-bd5sz Tesla's goal was forcing the transition to ev, they've done that the goal was never to be the best.

If I were to go electric then Nio is the only car I'd go for simply because of the swappable battery, no need for a charger. Brilliant idea. Just hope it comes to England and they have lots of battery swapping hubs.
@@sydsnott5042 The battery swap is actually not a brilliant idea for the company itself. They will have to build batteries they never sell in a car, they will just be there to be swapped. That’s such a unnecessary hit in the number of EVs they can produce, this will slow them down as long as Batteries are the bottleneck of BEVs. So at least until 2030….
