How did this song not become a number 1 song in 1968? This song has such meaning and truth about most teenagers growing up. Wanting a relationship but not having the nerve or courage to reach out to that special someone? RIP Johnny Maestro, I hope to hear you sing this beautiful song in heaven someday!!!!!
This was such a ridiculously underrated song. It is my absolute favourite Brooklyn Bridge song. As the flipside of 'Blessed Is the Rain', it made for a great 45. I am fortunate enough to own a copy and wish I had the opportunity to have Johnny Maestro autograph it. God Bless you, Johnny Maestro. You're a pleasure to listen to.
@Fischer Fan - This wasn't literally a flip side. This was a double A-side record, both sides were considered equally to be the featured song. Sometimes this is created by disc jockeys flipping an A side and playing it on the radio of their own volition, In this case, Buddah Records promoted both sides equally from the start, referred to as a double A-side single. This is my favorite song by them, too. The chorus melody is pure joy!
@@souldeep69 There have certainly been no shortage of records like that. One that comes to mind is the Beatles 'Penny Lane'/'Strawberry Fields Forever'. Another is the Monkees' 'Last Train to Clarksville' which is backed by the melodius 'Take a Giant Step'. Your username seems to suggest you are a Box Tops fan. I've always a been and 'Soul Deep' is THE song that made me a fan of them for life! I had the thrill of seeing them perform in my town two decades ago, and then meet them and get autographs after the show!
I could listen to this song 24/7 what a great talent , got to see him live, how can there be 11 thumbs down RIP Johnny, you are now in the only true hall of fame God Bless
I didnt realise I knew this song until I started humming it when I stumbed across a early video from backin the day. I was totally blown away. So glad I stumbled across a Brooklyn Bridge song and then came looking for more. What a voice. What a group. Thank you for the music!!!
Johnny was magnificent and unequaled. My college years were augmented by listening to him/Brooklyn Bridge. We need a movie to be made about Johnny....He was at least an equal of the Four Seasons "Jersey Boys"....and far more emotionally expressive.
One of the prettiest love songs ever written and sung ny the only person who could master it. It is not a simple song to sing. Joseph F Portland, OR USA
f I could wish for a voice & range of any singer I’ve ever heard, it would be Johnny Maestro’s. I thank God I got to see him live in NYC & I was fortunate to enjoy his phenomenal singing going back to his days with The Crests. Rest In Peace my brother ❤️
THE SOUND FROM THE BRONX , BROOKLYN & LONG ISLAND SOUNDS MERGED BACK THEN INTO MAGICAL " 50'S /EARLY 60'S MUSICAL WORLD ONCE IN A LIFETIME. HAD TO BE THERE TO FEEL " THE VIBE".
One of the greatest voices ever...saw him in the summer of 2009, his voice was as pure as ever. RIP Johnny, and thanks for the legacy and memories you left behind....

I’ve loved Johnny Maestro since the beginning, starting with My Juanita, Sweetest One and my very favorite of his, Gee, But I’d Give The World. This is my fav of his with The BB. So sorry he’s no longer with us but am grateful to still have his music.
I have been a fan of Johnny Maestro and the Crests and Brooklyn Bridge since the late 50's. I would love to see them in concert. Does anybody know if they ever come to Southern California to sing? He is the best singer ever.
