I love my GH5! I use the Sigma 18-35 with a straight through adapter (not the speedbooster) for that 35-70 equivalent which is honestly a lot nicer then the 24-50 range with a speedbooster. Loved the video! So helpful and practical. I love when experienced filmmakers talk gear in real wedding scenarios, it's so much more helpful then technical rundowns

Great video! I find myself wanting to upgrade to S1 or something after years of using the Gh5. This was a decent reminder that the tool I have is still amazing. I use voigtlanders, but I have trouble with softness 17.5 under f/2. Any issues with this?

I'm in the same boat constantly shocked by how great of a camera the GH5 still is! I deal with the same thing on the voigtlanders I always try to keep my fstop at f/2 or above to make sure this isn't an issue :)

I was thinking about getting a Panasonic GH5s (I will do more video than photography). Should I get a GH5 instead, because of the image stabilization?
I know the GH5s does better in low light, but some other videos suggested that if I use a speed booster and sigma lens, I can offset that deficit in the GH5...?
Also, what will getting the optional v-log for GH5 gain me?
I think initially, I will be going out into the field to shoot videos to promote tourism, videoing myself for online content, shoot some event video, etc.
In your opinion, should I get the GH5 or the GH5s, or Should I wait until the GH6 is released, so I can see if the GH6 has better features/specs for the price?
Any idea when the GH6 will be released, and what the price and specs on it will be?

    • @Forestryfilms
      @Forestryfilms  4 роки тому

I think you should get a GH5 to start then if you need it get the GH5S. No news yet on the release date for the GH6 :(

@@Forestryfilms Thank you for replying to me... I may get the GH5 and then someday get the GH6...
Will the GH5 be okay in low light if I have the sigma lens and viltrox speed booster?
Ans is it worth it to pay for the Vlog upgrade for the GH5?

Hello David. I’m a huge fan of your craft! I have a question and hope you can help. I recently purchased multiple recommended items from your links, including a GH5, Voigtlander 17.5mm .95. and 62mm SLR Magic VND filter. I received my VND today and realized I still needed a step up ring, but unsure if I purchased the incorrect SLR Magic VND filter for the 17.5 mm lens.
What’s the right size SLR Magic VND for the 17.5 mm and can you clarify what size step up ring for Voigtlander lens is needed? Some of your product links are no longer available and I’m a beginner looking for guidance. Feel free to also link those products so I can support you.
Thank you greatly for your time and education!

Thanks so much! Love the c100s and the BMPCC6K! I think the GH5 would fit great in that lineup. The GH5 has a pretty neutral color palette and handles color grading really well. You can pretty much tweak the colors to be whatever you want :D

Im looking for a second camera to my GH5 with a $3,000 budget. Would you recommend getting another gh5 with a few voigtlander lens and invest the rest in good lighting to make up for low light. Something like a practilite 602 or invest in the S1 which is almost the same prices as the GH5s and more affordable lights ?

Thanks for great content! Love your positive vibes and slightly different approach. At the end of the day, it´s not about noise and pixel perfect focus. Honest emotions and some creative workarounds are the key to happiness :) Just like everything in life. Just like this video. It´s not a hyper correct technical review. It´s a story about falling in love and making great stuff with the tools you have (decided for). And squeeze the best out of it. To be absolutely honest, I can feel that you can easily move to some new full frame lowlight mirrorless beast anytime soon. But the passion for the new gear and overcoming it´s weaker points will be the same. Subscribed :)

From someone who has shot with both Canon and Panasonic, I'd say the colors are way different. Really appreciate you making this video! So useful. I currently shoot weddings with a GH5 handheld (Peak Design Belt Clip) and have the GH5S on a Ronin SC gimbal with a Focus 7 monitor. After watching this, like you, I wish I could lighten my load and not have to worry about lugging around so much gear. My question for you is, how much of the day do you use you monopod and Ronin S? I’m considering selling my setup and invest long in more lenses. Also, I’m on the Sigma 18-35mm and also have the range of Olympus 1.2 Pro lens - 25mm/45mm. I’m conserving selling them all and going til he voightlanders as well. Have you tried the Olympus?

One thing to note about your SD cards. IKD if you're shooting 10bit or I-frame in 4k but you won't get more than a few seconds of footage due to speed of those cards (v30) I use a v60 and still it stops after about 60 seconds. However in LongGop or 8bit its fine. EDIT: I see now you shoot 8bit. so you're fine, but wanted to point that out.

HI i liked your delivery and gave a thumbs up too. But i beg to clarify....@46:30 how do you say in years youve never used continuous autofocus at all that much. I find that for my productions i need autofocus ALL THE TIME. Even a simple push in (for a product shot) from a slider or just pushing into anything needs Continuous Autofocus. How to manage without that ? On a gimbal how can we even touch the lens. The motor focus thing also isnt viable bec the lenses are focus by wire and it will just focus randomly for the same amount of turn each time.

Did you noticed that the monitor of the Gh5 is deemed after a while filming? Can you find a way to fix that problem. That only makes me move to Sony A73.
I will love to know if you have a way to fix it. Thanks in advance

Great point! The way to get around this is to not have your screen on the brightest setting. It needs to be 1 setting below the brightest and it shouldn't dim.
