hey xp, i have a question regarding potion rules, i'm not exactly well imbersed in the rules so i'm wondering about do potion effects of the same type stack and if so; couldn't an alchemist artificer just mix their potions together until they get enough permanent ones to have every stat buffed to hell?
I didn't see where MI allows you to cast from scrolls. My reading of it is, you know just enough to cast one or two 1st level spells. Not read scrolls. Unless you select read scrolls as one of your spells.
this character feels like one of those silicon valley rich guys who get obsessed with never dying, to the point where it consumes every second of their life and they have to optimize everything they do to extend their life; that basically becomes a monastic religious lifestyle of denying themselves everything they desire and purifying their bodies at the expense of literally everything else (the scrolls of death ward are. idk, stem cells or vitamin gummies or smth)
To be fair stuff like vitamin gummies are taken by a lot of people in certain countries like South Korea for example and it's shown to lead to longer life spans. It's not something you need to dedicate your life to.
There are some interesting developments in that department. They’ve been able to drastically increase the lifespans of mice. Even the pessimistic views are saying we could feasibly double the healthy years of a person Optimistic views are saying we have found a fountain of youth and old age might be a thing of the past
@@XP_GoblinI was confused as well. I assumed they buffed it for the new rules. I am planning on something similar with my Harengon Grave domain Cleric of Wee Jas. I intend to cast at minimum 1 death ward using metamagic adept to extend the spell with one sorcery point. That would cover one day(minus 8 hours to rest) I could use the second sorcery point to do the same thing. Personally, I want to find cheeky ways around rules, but haven’t yet. Ceremony Investiture is my most recent fascination. I would like to keep in a bag of holding, an undead that I could cast ceremony investiture on before combat(the dm for this campaign buffed the spell to last 4 hours, but you could extended spell it, if needed.) Then you could have the undead cast the target spell(cure wounds) regardless of levels as a caster. The only issue being verbal components. Magic mouth may be able to circumvent this based on dm interpretation. I think there is a sound argument that an animal could cast this spell, as it does speak and even in a language that could be understood with magic, but this is getting highly into dm discretion territory
Great video! Here's a way I found to make a character immortal with Clone, Demiplane, and Planeshift. 1. Cast demiplane to make a new demiplane 2. Fill the demiplane with a ton of clones (can fit a lot in a 30' cube) 3. Leave the demiplane and seal it up 4. When dead, you will wake up in a clone body in the demiplane 5. Plane Shift back to where you were or somewhere else
There’s a charm in tomb of annihilation called the charm of nine lives, which acts as effectively 9 death wards. If you find a chiwinga or have someone summon it through conjure minor elementals in the 2014 rules, you can easily get them and it’s more cost and time efficient than crafting death ward scrolls.
5 Levels in divine soul sorcerer and at least one level genie warlock allows you to cast all sorts of buffs and concentration spells into a glyph in your genie vessel with a trigger word. Then on first round of combat, you can enter the vessel for an action, speak the trigger word, get spirit guardians, shield of faith, enlarge, fly, levitate, haste and what not from previously saved spells all at once for max duration without concentration. Then leave for a bonus action and walk, cause you can still use your spirit guardians all in round 1. I think from level 6 onwards, this could be even tankier and at some point spam infinite death wards over night.
Im playing this build in a westmarch server, im curently at lvl 10 , just 1 level away from immortality. It took me 7 or 8 months to get to this point. O yeah , the character is Senator Armstrong. " Why won't you die! " " Nanomachines(lvl 11) son!"
Awesome for a player, but I'd love to see a DM flavor this to be a NPC based on Michael Myers. No matter how many times the players think they've killed him, he just keeps getting up like it's nothing.
I once tried to make a reborn flying character for a dumb build a long time ago but I found out that you cannot create a flying race reborn during character creation. You would have to be transformed in-game to be a flying reborn. Maybe DND beyond is worded differently than Van Richten's Guide.
@Xp goblin: I would go Champion 20 instead of Monk for a never dying build. Adv and critical success on 18-20 is and effective reroll Heavy armor master, Lucky, and boon of Fortitutde are going to keep you up much longer Indomitable is a reroll or a guanteed success when you need it. Taking Magic Initiate Druid for Shillelagh and Spare the dying makes it where no one can die without your permission and you can influct death quickly with 1d12/2d6 attacks by level 11. [For those who dont get it Boon of Fortitude + Survivor means can you heal 15 a turn as long as you are under half and above 0 (if you critical save on18-20 you can trigger survivor after since the player chooses the order the things apply to them)]
I love Barb/Monk multiclassing in 2024. Currently playing a Kensei Berserker that uses strength daggers and strength darts, both doing martial arts dice damage.
You should check out the saving throws on Paladin 6 / Monk 14. 20th level is a total meme, but maybe it can be viable along the way too? I like it on gnome. Only lament it can’t fit 2 levels of barbarian for advantage on strength and dex too.
I don't get why getting proficiency wouldn't work with death saving throws. In my understanding it works just as a Bless or Bond (of peace cleric) that adds a d4 to your death saving throw.
Given you have a cape of billowing, you either saved your money for it, found it during adventures or created yourself. Given your oddly intelligent nature for a goblin, you most likely found some magic item or are a wizard which gives you this power. Please explain or the interrogation will not cease.
I thought that even the cloak of protection adds one to the result of the roll to a death save (rolling 1 still makes 2 death saves) so why wouldnt disiplined survivor also count for death saves if it doesnt say it checks for saving throws that are tied to ability score modifiers?
Mate instead of these builds that no one’s ever gonna be able to play beyond a lvl 20 1 shot make builds that are actually achievable, builds where the main concept comes together at lvl 5ish and gets enhanced onwards
I made a character with a similar theme with the 2014 rules they were a half orc with 1 level in shadow sorcerer and the rest warlock of the undying, half orc and shadow sorcerer both got me survive with one hit point and undying warlock gets to heal themself when they succeed a death save and they get death ward. I also used tomb of levistus to not instantly die after getting up and vampire touch to get back into the fight. using these tactics I some how managed to fight off a wave of about 20 mimics singlehandedly this did however end in me losing both of my arms. They were a fun character cause they let me be super reckless with like 5 get out of jail (almost) free cards.
So my initial problem with this is combining a race with a lineage. Every other time I've seen lineages used, they were their own race (or maybe base human). Doing a race with a lineage on top of that seems like double dipping on racial abilities. I wouldn't allow it. It's like those stupid Strixhaven or Spelljammer backgrounds that give an extra feat or extra spells with no drawbacks.
This build doesn't work as written, is underpowered at all levels, and doesn't even gain any noteworthy features toward its goal until 11th level. Death Ward is level 4 and can't be taken by the Magic Initiate feat. You can't cast spells from scrolls if they're not on your class spell list. Having a spell prepared or knowing it doesn't add it to your class spell list. Each Death Ward scroll would take 1,000gp in materials and 10 days of work. You cannot benefit from a long rest for 16 hours after you benefit from a long rest. Way of the Long Death is pretty underpowered, so despite Monk being great now, you would sacrifice a huge amount of power across all of your game play to have extra cheat death uses starting at level 11, and they compete with your Ki usage, meaning realistically you might have several of those, not your full Ki amount, otherwise you're basically gutting most of your class features. Superior Defense isn't until 18 and by then you have lots of other ways to access resistances. Not to mention your AC will be pretty low for a long time because you're a monk. Something else you seem to consistently overlook is saving throws. This build does nothing to protect them, which means you're vulnerable to a bunch of instant-kill effects that even death ward can't save you from. Not to mention, failing important saving throws is one of the fastest ways for a fight to go bad. If you want something truly tanky that actually plays well at all levels, look into something like a Strength Fiend Warlock 5, Wild Heart Barbarian 3, Warlock x. Use Fiendish Vigor and Armor of Agayths at low levels with a shield for 18 AC, then drop the shield and move up to Great Weapon Master and Graze + Rage combo by level 6, dealing 6 damage on a miss and an extra 2d6 if you hit, and reflecting 15 damage in melee if the enemy attacks you, gaining a bonus action attack and refilling your temp HP whenever you kill an enemy, which last longer thanks to taking half damage from almost everything so those temp HP last longer. You don't even have to reckless attack. All by level 8! Then back to Warlock for 7 more levels, as your Fiend temp HP and Armor of Agayths just keep getting stronger, and you get more powerful magic for when you're not raging. At level 12 you get Thirsting Blade to use hit dice in combat to deal extra damage and heal yourself. 13th level you can shore up one of the resistances that Wild Heart doesn't cover. Level 15, you get a third attack with Devouring Blade. Then you can either multiclass more for something like Battlemaster Fighter with second wind, action surge, and maneuvers, or you can just stay in Warlock to get a 9th level spell per day and more temp HP when you down enemies, which is probably worth it.
erveryone in dnd is so unkillable its kinda anoying for the plot. Even NPC's can't have a nice dying in your arms death as there as so many ways to save them or bring them back from the dead.
Unsubscribing. I love you, and your content looks great, great voice, but the production quality in terms of the build is terrible. Like the builds are great, but you consistently make obvious errors. Normally that would be fine but given this is supposed to be a raw channel and following shit to the letter its hard to want to stay.
