A couple years ago I bought an 8 pack of AA EBL batteries. I only used my powered mc9000 charger/ analyzer to maintain them and I only have 1 cell that still works. I would also like to note that all of the EBL cells were below the claimed MaH rating and very inconsistent in regards to capacity between the 8 cells. I have also purchased EBL charging products with my own money for the purpose of reviewing. In my experience the grand EBL is low quality and unregulated in consistency. To put it simply, they make crap products. On the contrary, the Energized brand AA batteries are not crap and are possibly made in the same factory that the Eneloop brand is made at.The Energizer NiMh batteries do great when maintained in a quality charger/ analyzer not the cheap charger the batteries come with. Energizer is in the business to sell batteries.
Thanks for the input, I've personally not had any issues with EBLs so far and in test I've seen then tend to do pretty good. One thing I do not like is they do tend to overstate their capacity but all brands pretty much do too. However EBL tends to be a worse offender in that regard. Example a '2,800mah' EBL tends to be about 2,400mah. When a '2,000mah' other main brand battery tends to be about 1,800mah. The thing is I found though is you typically can get the actual capacity 2,400mah EBL for the same price of the actual capacity 1,800mah which makes then very appealing even with their slightly more dishonest marketing. I am not trying to write off your experiences though, as I said I've Personally never had issues with my EBLs. On the other hand the Energizers I bought and that came with an Energizer brand 'smart' battery charger felt like that they were going to catch on fire at multiple points getting so hot while charging as the charger would sometimes refuse to just shut off and horribly over charged them. I would have to be careful and watch them then remove them when they started heating up. At this point too, 2 of the 4 enigizer Batteries I got with that set have failed in that they rapidly discharge themselves when storing. Likely due to damage from that charger. Like you said that is a cheap charger that came with them BUT it also is a charger that Energizer sold bundled with their batteries and chose to represent their company when they put their brand name on it. The fact that Energizer has done this along with them using blatantly scammy and scummy tactics like the fake D cell Batteries (being an AA cell in a D shell then charging you a ridiculous amounts more over the AA) I just can no longer support the brand. I did hear that the Amazon basics works well and perhaps that might be a future investment if the EBLs do ever have issues.
I had another varient of energizer aa NiMH and they seem to be really good!may be we should stay away from the ones u showed.thanks for sharing that info,I won't choose the energizers with green on top varients.also 'simply Duracell ' varients are trash compared to regular Duracell.
Happy new year! I was wondering if it only works with D and C cells or any electronic. For example phones, Nikon camera batteries or any other device that has the non standard battery?
It wouldn't likely work unless for example the Battery was a standard value like a single cell Lithium or such which the charger would likely treat like normal. But even still I wouldn't risk it over potentially destroying an expensive Battery, camera or both. And thank you.
or you can just use a charger that fits D batteries... also, you can probably just offset one of the magnets on the side of the positive terminal and just stick the batter in there without all the wires.
Sure you could just use a D charger. But that is not the point here. Point is if you don't have one or don't want to shell put potentially 30+ for a decent one and already have a charger you can make due for free like this :) You are probably right that magnets stuck in the right places might allow you to not need the wires. However probably could only charge 1, maybe 2 max at a time.
Am wondering if you can just put the wire to the terminals on the charger and hold it in with the magnet by sandwiching the wire between the terminal and the magnet?
Cool thanks. I will check Dollar Tree and I think O'Reilly's auto parts has some of those kind of magnet . . only because I am in a hurry and don't want to wait on Ebay delivery.
@@TrollFaceTheMan Ended up using coated copper twist wire and 4 of those big fat rubber bands that come with the broccoli. You have to had really strong rare earth neodymium magnets for this to work. Ordinary magnets don't cut it.
@@TrollFaceTheMan No. This was an emergency charge. I just used one of those fat thick rubber bands off grocery store brocolli to hold copper wire onto the top and bottom each battery. I attached the other ends to the charger by just twisting a bit on the negative side and on the positive end there is this fold down for the AAAs so I stuck the wire in the crack and folded down holding the wire neatly in place. Not nearly as cool as neodymium magnets, but it worked. No soldering. I may still get some neodymium magnets, but no hurry now. This charge was for a friend.
@@OWK000 well glad you were able to do something. In general though the nickle coating on the neodymium magnets is important to allow electrical contact with the battery.
Think it was 22g. Which should be able to handle about 5 or 6 amps. Max amps for this charger is only 1000mah or 1amp hour. So even technically 28g wire could be used. But if the charger you has can provide more amps you'll have to check.
How you like the EBL D rechargeable batteries on the mag light, how much run time you get from them EBL D Batteries are they true 10,000 mah ? Was looking at the energizer ones but after seen your video that have a AA inside with Adapter I rather go with some EBL how they holding up do they loose power from sitting.
Injust got this charger and I dont know what happens when I press the the buttons to change the currents, does it charge faster or something? All I did was put them in and it started charging should I just leave them in without worrying about it?
Yes, for batteries that are under 2000mah it is good to typically charge them at 500mah. Where Batteries over 2000mah capacity it's good to charge at the 1000mah. And yes that charger should automatically shut off when the batteries are charged.
You can do that too for sure. But I like to keep these Nut Wires with my Batteries to use just for this. My alligator clips I use so often they end up all over

Welcome back brother! Happy new year! Any updates on PCRT?
Thanks, you too. The plan is still to bring back some new EP but I have been busy lately.

Believe it or not the magnets near the start gave it away for me lol, I did this a few times.
It's a very useful trick. I got the idea from a universal battery tester that used magnetic leads.

It's a led 2 D Batteries Mag Light

Sure, but it depends on what you need right now. I can chat over text but not voice. You can shoot me a message on there if you like.
they make an adapter to hold c and d cells for that charger
That is good to know. Though still making a DIY option for free ain't bad either.
Can you give link to adapter?
Can't find eastshine s4 charger. Any more recommendations?
Hmm that sucks, I'll take a look.
Added a new one.
What's the real capacity of this D battery please?
I am not sure. But usually EBLs seems to be at least 90% of their rated capacity.
alligator clips and magnets...skip the soldering. They're ferrous clips.
You can do that too for sure. But I like to keep these Nut Wires with my Batteries to use just for this.
My alligator clips I use so often they end up all over
When you can get them, I recommend NiCad D and C over NIMH. NIMH is expensive for C and D cells.
NiMH tends to have much better power density and longevity though.
1:40 What? That is so shameless of them!
Yes it is.
Oh cool, you can also buy magnets with a hole in the middle and skip a step.
True
@@TrollFaceTheMan Unfortunately the magnets with the holes in them are so spendy, you might as well buy a new charger.
Magnets have went way up since covid too I know so that is definitely one factor to price.

I would not trust a company founded on alkaline to sell decent rechargeable batteries.
That is fair.
