- Pink and Brandi Carlile pay tribute to the late Sinead O'Connor with a duet of "Nothing Compares 2 U." Brandi opened up for Pink's Summer Carnival tour at Citi Field on August 3, 2023.
Why is it we dont pay tribute to people until they are gone?

Actually, if you scroll back, a couple of months, P!nk has done, this song, live on her tour several times.
If people wonder how brave Sinead was. She was the first artist male or female who called out Pope John Paul for all the child abuse that was going on. She did it on stage in the early 90s i want to say 90 or 1991. Shewas demonized by the catholic church in her native Ireland to tghe point priests were telling their congragations to not go to her concerts or by her albums. She didnt back down even when it was costing her money. OVER TIME ALL OF IT CAME OUT. SHE WAS A LIGHT FOR ALL THOSE ABUSED KIDS!!!! May she rest in peace now that she has made the world better than before she came into it
She was certainly an incredible artist, too bad some people only recognized her after her departure, but her legacy is there for the world to see. 💕

It was a Nun from the Catholic School Sinead attended that encouraged her talent and in essence played a pivotal role in her career.. So like us all Sinead endured Saints and Sinners in her life
She was sooo far ahead of everyone else. Her bipolar disorder created so much pain for her in her life and complicated everything.

At this concert, I felt like I’d gotten my money’s worth even before Pink came on stage. Brandi was phenomenal.
When Brandi came around the corner with her voice first just before you see her face I was in heaven already.
Pity we see these beautiful Performance after she died. The song was always wonderful..and it will always belong to Sinead.
Ppl have said this repeatedly and I think it’s sad. It’s not a tribute if they haven’t passed. Sure they could’ve done it before her death… but it’s still a lovely gesture. Have you listened to Chris Cornell’s cover? I think his is so beautiful.

I'm a little behind the time so I am just discovering how incredible Brandi Carlile is. This is the second time I've heard her sing with pink and my gosh

You both should check out her cover of Elton John's "Mad Man across the Water." But she is such an amazing songwriter too, so I really love her originals (my favorite is probably her performance of "Whatever You Do" on Stephen Colbert.
You should check out the recent documentary she did with Tanya Tucker. I fell in love with not just Brandi’s voice but her personality. She’s incredible.

Beautiful tribute to a beautiful person. She was ahead of her time. I remember watching that video of her feeling like I was watching a work or Art perform a work or Art.
In my opinion, many artists tried to cover this almost unreachable version from Sinead O'Connor, however, feel like nobody ever reached the original version, but it looks to me as if Pink can cover just anything it it is good in her version. Just beautiful.
It's actually a song by Prince, but I like Sineads cover best!

I was listening to this song hours before Sinead died & was reading about her life. I think I intuitively knew she was leaving this earth. She missed her baby boy too much to stay They were like one in the same..She was beautifully sensitive & it came through in her voice. I always related to her on so many levels. RIP Sinead O'Connor. Saw this concert in Cincinnati the day Sinead passed away, when they did this tribute, there was not a dry eye in the Stadium. Absolutely beautiful.

Pink has covered this a lot. Brandi loves doing covers. They’re both beyond incredible song writers, and vocalists. My two faves!(especially love Brandi with the twins❤️) It pays great tribute when the best singers do covers. I love that they did this together. They first did it hours after we all heard of Sinead’s passing.
