So after 2.5 years I finally stopped NW. Been there through the beginning and was really happy about how the game was making progress. The main downfall for me is that every time you get in tight with a small group it inevitably falls apart with players quitting. Over and over I went from solo sadness to group fun back to solo sadness. Just got tired of not being able to be with a long term group and ran out of energy trying to find new in game friends.
It gets even worse when you want to compete in leaderboard speedruns. The amount of people who are able to do that are very very limited and also they burn out the quickest.
New World had (and still has) the potential to be genre defining. The PvP action combat is truly unique and could easily be expanded into something special, but AGS' refusal to add more PvP content has doomed this game. They still haven't figured out that this game is STILL just gear grind without purpose. Nobody wants to spam lazy, repetitive 5 man dungeons over and over if they never get to participate in quality war content (NW's actual endgame) or 1 sided OPRs since we STILL have no form of role-based matchmaking. And even the 2hrs worth of story content every 3 months is valueless since none of it is repeatable, not even the bosses. It's all worthless. PvP content is the easiest way to make repeatable content, yet they refuse. It's insane. NW could easily triple or quadruple it's active player base if they just put some effort into their current PvP modes and added 1-2 new ones. It's one thing if the PvE content they released was good, but it's not. It's painfully bland and has 0 replayability. It's no surprise why NW always loses 50%+ of it's peak playerbase 2 weeks after EVERY major update. The direction they're going in has 0 value and does nothing for the game. - Cross-Server company vs company wars without territory being a factor. Just another way to experience war content would be MASSIVE for player retention. Warring and improving as a company with the homies is the best part of New World. - OPR Role-Based matchmaking - New OPR map(s) - New Modes: 20v20 Fort Siege (Queueable Fort Fights), Capture the Flag, Payload push, 5v5 modes, 10v10 modes...freaking anything, man. - REPEATABLE Soul-Trials. If the 2024 roadmap is the same cookie-cutter dungeons and basic QoL... this game has 0 chance of surviving. No chance people stick around.
Wars are always at like 30-40 fps. I dont know how you crazy people play with those frames. It actually makes me nausous. and no I dont have a bad pc. Everyone gets those frames. To me open world content is so cool in theory and then you play it and your frames go to shit. Until they come up with new technology so we can have tons of people in the same area and the server be able to deal with all that data, I prefer to stay away from that content.
Completely agree and came to the comments section to type this up myself. Whenever there are content woes in a game I always laugh because I know it's because the PvP scene is too weak. PvP players create their own content, and small developers that don't have massive (cutting edge) teams shouldn't try to compete with studios that do on the PvE content front. You're going to lose the race, and players will move on to the next PvE hamster wheel. Smaller studios need to focus on player-driven content which is 95% of the time PvP. New World was doomed when they pivoted from a PvP focused game to a theme park game last minute. No one wants to run shitty dungeons forever unless they're brain dead.
100% agree with you feel like you have said what we all been saying for so long, I think we are all just hoping that one day the game will get there but every big update seems to be getting worse every time. What New World needs is HELP!!!!! They need a team to come in and assist with the development going forward to push ideas and speed the time of the development. They cannot keep saying they will go slower and get it right the first time and still not achieve a better result it is really disappointing maybe one day they will get it right, As always love your videos dude keep it up
I gave it up after 2 years or so. I jumped back in on the expansion and had a blast. Then it got stale again. I tried several times to get back in and I just really do not feel it anymore and I hate it because I love this game.
The action combat in this game is what will keep people coming back over and over. Hopefully AGS can bring New World from the slums into a truly great MMORPG that we can enjoy.
@@Z-MACx When the game had no pve content it died. Pvp only mmos all die. Most mmo players are pve first. The data is clear on this. It might not match your personal feelings but it is what it is.
@@davidnone8951 New World is much different than other MMOs. I’m not saying completely stop PvE development, but seeing as action combat/pvp is the best thing about the game, the devs need to invest more time/resources for PvP players. One OPR map in over 2 years is absolutely insane
I hate to say it, but it wont, the game is still bleeding players, we are coming up on a new all time low playter count wise only a few months after the expansion, brimstone pulled double the people back as the actual expansion, and we have already dipped to 30k peaks again
If New World adds these one day, it will be a great MMORPG. For PvE ; WoW’s Torghast ESO’s Endless Archive Tower Challenges Roguelike Mode (God of War's New FREE DLC) For PvP ; New OPR Maps with New Mechanics BattleGrounds Capture the Flag Caravan Trade Battle Royale Battle Arena Open World Elements ; Swimming Diving Gliding Challenged World Bosses New Professions ; Sailing Farming Archaeology Digging(Treasure Map Hunting) Bug Catching Fluid Collecting New Polished Mount System Other ; New Reworked Achievement System Collection Book System Guild House Guild Quests
The chest runs trivialised the best content in the game. The same kind of content was the best part of and most memorable back in Everquest, maybe even better than the fantastic raid system. It required a group and co-operation and it was challenging. It created conflict between groups that although it could be anoying it actually made the content more interesting. Doing an open dungeon in Everquest was terrifying. Open dungeons in New World are an all you can eat McDonalds buffet. The players are to blame for cheesing the content and the developers were too inexperienced to fix it. Neglect of the pvp system has been shocking. OPR updates, new maps and balance has been practically non existent. Economy is trash thanks to the very few that get to run wars having all the money. Bugs are still out of control. Half the time I can't see the scoreboard in OPR. All my house items have been missing for a couple weeks. It doesn't matter how much content they add, if players zerg it and make it trivial it will never be enough.
i left the game 4 months ago and came back 3 days ago , bought the expansion then got into the game to find my houses and all my trophies are gone , i talked to 4 supports and made a ticket. they basically said to me we can't check the account's information because you left months ago we can only check info for about 2 weeks and we can't give you anything back , sadly all that major trophy farming wasted
I still enjoy the game so much, and i wonder why, because i really suck in action PvP 😂. What keeps me goingvis the immersion feeling and my stubborness to get better. As Jay said, rhe graphics and sounds are amazing, the combat is awesome. Gathering and refining are very satisfying AND relaxing. Some will play "solitaire" to relax, i cut trees 🙂. What might help me enjoy the game so much is the fact that i never had the urge to reach the so called end game content. I'm near 4k hours in the game, and i still don't have BIS items (well, 1 item) i'm not even in a company (well, i'm in my own company and am its only member 😂), and i'm always broke. I'm still missing 1 weapon skill at lvl 20. I stick to bow cuz i always loved bows since i started playing AD&D 43 years ago. I don't EVER go for the fotm weapon, and for some reasons, bugs don't truly bother me but most importantly same thing goes for other people's feelings and opinion about a game. There's a lot of people out there that don't like something just because influencers or other people don't like it. I'm not built that way i guess ! In my 24 years of playing mmos, NW is my 2nd most played of them all, way behind Dark Age of Camelot back in the early 2000's. I played WoW 6 hours and it was enough for me (i'll get shot just for saying that lol). Anyways, i hope NW keeps getting better obviously, i think the game is great. Thanks Jay for covering NW with honesty and constructive comments.
I'm content creator, with 90%+ achievement completion, 95% transmog completion, 95% leaderboard capes, 5300+ hours playtime. Barely logged in the past 2 months, my entire company quit the game, got no one to play with. Hopped on earlier today during peak hours there were 2-4 lobbies for the new dungeon, that should tell you enough, no one did winter warrior either in the 2 hours I was on.
Funny this video comes out now, I took a break for a year basically and came back for season 4 and am having so much fun. Sometimes you gotta just take a step back.
No game can keep you satisfied forever. People expect too much out of mmos in general. I never understood the need for one game to keep your attention your whole life.
It seems to get worse. Latest patch broke my entire housing interiors. Decorated all for xmas n now its empty again. If i had known that i would have not spent money on the white cat :/
It's hard to imagine a game so technologically demanding being released on a game console any time soon. Also, there's a reason you don't see many MMOs with graphics and combat like New World. I'm not a programmer myself, but I know it's very complicated, and since they're making a new, original game, they're having to figure a lot of stuff out themselves. I just wish people would be more patient and supportive, instead of putting every issue they come across on a pedestal and insulting the game. If you want a perfect game with very few to no issues, stick to the content that's already been out for a decade.
oom here 12k+ hours - world record m10 depths speed since leaderboards came out. Thanks for all your hard work Jay - New World players need honest transparent help like this more than anything. I will always check back in to see how things are slowly coming along in this great game of potential. I'm glad they are removing a lot of the time sinks. The expansion might be short of content but I'm glad they are working on their ethics and slowly removing how encrypted basic mechanics are.
Elysium wilds is used far more now. chest runs happen literally every day artifact runs every day my chat is blown up with people trying to run them every few seconds
I disagree, once you get the artifacts you want, fdinish the MSQ and some other farming, most don't want to hammer ECR's and the new dungeon every day in and day out... and then, what is there to do there? Nothing.
“Chest runs” wow great content lol. That’s the content that you’re saying is being done in Elysium wilds, even after watching this video where he roasts chest runs. Copium
Still u r right, new world needs way more content! If they go the ESO way, keeping old content relevant on top of new dungeons, raids, other features would be awesome.
Good example of this is pve arenas, siren monoecious and the other one. Totally forgotten content, you can do them but they reward 500 gs gear it’s useless now. Why not turn those arenas into something else? Or hell make them pvp arenas?
No MMO needs to go the “ESO route” with bland content, the only thing good about ESO is lore and combat and with how trivial they’ve made the game PVE is a joke and PVP is dead
I think our mistake is continuing to have faith in the devs and continue to believe they don’t mislead and simply “ran into unforeseen issues. Thanks for continuing to share the game from a non biasis standpoint. I think most of us would have quit/took a break if they gave us an accurate roadmap with no pvp for 2 plus years.
Jay you didn't address the fact that 700 gear score gear is entirely pointless since PvP is bolstering you up and M3 is for 695+ and tbh it is not even worth upgrading to 700 for just 1 stat. There is no content that requires you to be 700 gear score. They also missed a big opportunity with Glacial Tarn and Forge. If they would have made it a 10man raid where you split up in 2 5man groups and meet up after the orb / bridge is activated would have been awesome and an entire new raid experience, but no... instead we get an empty dungeon with annoying pathing, buggy endboss and an annoying boss design (not hard just annoying to play). What were they even thinking?
They should have made it like a Molten Core attunement, do both dungeons to get the attunement then the portal opens up and you go into a elemental realm with a fire and ice raid, but these devs are pretty clueless like Jay said. the game with missed potential.
It’s honestly mind boggling they can’t make the simple improvements people want - 1). Make a OPR map that’s capture the flag or king of the mountain for PvP. 2). Make a tiered PvP leaderboard 3). PvE - make a 10-20 man raid that’s 40-45 mins that has mini bosses / mobs with varied spec requirements where you could have 2 tanks / 2 healers and make the loot worth it. Extremely simple
“I’m doing the exact same thing just with artifacts and higher level” Holy cow how many times did I preach that in their discord and on Reddit for people to roast me and tell me idk what I’m talking about. Oh what music to my ears. I also said back then (a month before expansion)the player count be be under 20k by Christmas and well it’s been hovering just above 22k. There is a very long list of reasons why this game fails objectively compared to other mmos, why player count always continues to drop to damaging levels. The devs simply don’t care or simply don’t play their game enough to understand why people don’t stick around very long. Their balance decisions and changes to things like arena show they do t listen to the community. Or even when the community posts game breaking bug on ptr and the devs do nothing lol. Player count will continue to dwindle. There is literally nothing to do in this game for people who have played longer than 2 months. Just spam the same few dungeons endlessly with no real purpose or opr on the same map over and over with 0 matchmaking or ranking system to give a little more value to pvp. Wars are still extremely gated for most players and influence races are also gated by time, so if you have a job or family and a life and can’t play at that specific time well then screw you is AGS moto. Also every single update literally brings more issues than it fixes, while the devs post videos of all the tech improvements they are making to distract you from your game crashing over and over.
The core issue is they decided to use vertical progression rather than horizontal. All the effort they now have to balance the game, they could have put into the ‘depth’ of the game and PVP activities. In the wilds expansion, they have now created a balance nightmare, because people who don’t have the expansion are likely to lose the fight.
Interesting take! I would have thought you’d have wanted full horizontal so that PVP was much more assessable. I think New World in its current state is off putting for the new player market. Firstly they have made the old seasonal story inaccessible, so creating a Destiny 2 kinda of thing where no one knows what’s going. And secondly, jumping into PVP is just pointless, you’ll just get wiped by players that have paid for the expansion and have ilvl700
I've played new world for 500 hours, and paid dlc for a game that is not free to play was a big nope for me I don't think I'll install the game ever again
not to mention the sudden change such as the chromatic seals, it was just popped on us out of nowhere. give us time to use them first. also they yeti event. you cant even get everything in the shop if you wanted if you did not grind yeti before the change.. this an many more examples lol
I was hyped for the expansion, played it for 15 days was done with everything and then moved on ... new world has nothing that keeps me playing and enjoying. The big problem for me is the endgame there's no real endgame, we don't have Raids or any other modes. We have no new PVP mode that we can enjoy and OPR lasts so long as well is boring in my opinion and 3vs3 is just full of sweats and sometimes unplayable due to healers. And then season 4 oh BOI the delays were real ... quite sad. They should take their time of course they shouldn't release something half-assed, but I don't even know if the next year can help with that now that they wanna work more on "quality" they really need to blow it out next year, or they are done. Also, the content of the whole year was meh, okay. We had just 1 weapon not even a real raid and an expansion that got bare-bones content into a delay of almost the entire season... hopefully next year will be better as well as more weapons and long requested ones like dagger, crossbows or more magic stuff. I hope the next roadmap comes out this month or early January. And I still don't get how the bugs happen, I mean they are so buggy, I never have seen something like this with the bugs in any other game
Hey jay i must say very nice video, one question which weapon do you think they ll release next? once in a video u said after the end of rise of the angry earth cinematic you really knew what was the next weapon they ll release and i am very curious about it
I went on a hiatus on this game for like 6 to 7 months, because I've been doing the same routine all day. Logging In > Finishing Daily Faction Quest > Do the Chest Run > Corrupted Portal Run (If Not Bored) > Late Night OPR's. At first you'll enjoy it, but as the time goes, it gets really really boring, like you get nothing out of it but just exhaustion (except to talking to guildmates and friends you played with). When i got back, pretty much you are doing the same thing again but now there is more Chest Run to do, Seasonal Pass to finish. Its missing huge chunk of content (Different Maps for OPR, Massive Open World content (Boss fights, Instance Dungeon that you don't need to grind your ass off for 5hrs, Less Gold Potential earnings unless you go hardcore_) Its sad to see that you get back from a hard days of work in real life, you are supposed to sit down on your chair and play the game to have fun, yet instead its giving you more work just to get better gears or gold, glad i quit this game it is indeed a Wasted Potential.
Their downfall for me was the lack of PvP content support. Their combat system offered a completely new PvP experience that had me addicted to the game for almost 2 years after being burnt out from FPS games. But playing the same OPR map since launch and wars becoming repetitive while being time gated killed this game for me. A proper ranked system, more PvP game modes, and more PvP maps would have gone a long way. Hopefully the new LOTR MMO that AGS is working on will pull the combat system from this game and implant it in the LOTR universe with proper PvP support and ditch the awful cosmetics that New World keeps putting out.
I got tired of Bow/FirePR, HealerV3, and open world Bow/Fire pvp. Also, as a new player, the gold sink was way too high. I never got proper pvp gear because it was expensive to get it, and then there is always the chance the devs would just nerf it, and now the gear becomes trash.
Just imagine how it would feel to be a completionist in NW, it costs about 5m gold to get all standing 300, then we have faction vendor with ridiculous prices that rack up to another 500k, then we have lv 25 super rare rafflebone drops that go for 100k-200k each on the market. It's truly bizarre. No other game requires you to have 12-15x gold cap for just a few achievements and items.
One this I rarely see people talk about, is how the monetization is appearing more and more. From the beginning, the game was B2P with an in-game mtx shop. Since there isn't a monthly fee, that is definitely something they need. But then they started to add an overpriced premium battle pass, paid "expansions", gear set storage and transmog tokens where locked behind pay walls and now we see the vast majority of mounts being sold in the mtx store. All of this, while the playerbase isn't really increasing. Quite the opposite, since less and less players return every big update and more players leave faster. New World does not have the luxury of monetizing more and more things. It's not a game with millions of players.
Since the combat system was its greatest asset, and since this especially shines in PvP, they needed to double-down on the faction-based system, using it to create an engaging 3-sided struggle that is experienced through all of NW's content and systems. Instead, they have this hybrid model that doesn't really do well at the faction conflict or PvP and also lacks the PvE theme-park content to keep people engaged. Add in the bugs and other issues and you have a meandering, bug-ridden mess of a game that will always be a "could have" in the history of MMOs.
I'm gonna try out the beta and see how I feel about the game, any suggestions for a new player? I usually play solo in mmo games just an fyi as I'm not to great at the whole socializing thing.
This is the reality of releasing an mmo without a post-launch headstart. Which is something pretty much every live-service game deals with unless you have a massive source of funding which does not care about investors etc. By the time an mmo launches most developers only just started production on the first expansion. There needs to be a 2/3 expansion headstart before the release of the mmo itself.
I agree with you Jay, I stopped playing New World because of the neverending rain of "bugs", they got overwhelming at some point and it got too frustrating to play it. They fixed one, ten more appeared, which is trully sad because the game has potential like you said, but unfortunately wasted.
The first time you clear a dungeon should be the funnest most engaging and rewarding time to clear it. Now they make every new dungeon and existing one easy like pbs kids first dungeon clear. I remember the pop of from the first time clearing dynasty or genesis. Now I jump into glacial tarn and I’m falling asleep left clicking cause it’s only “challenging in mutated format when the experience is no longer new and exciting. Everything just lands like a wet fart. And OPR and arena get 0 content for years on end
Completely agree. New World's pvp, territory influence, classes, weapon mastery, leveling, graphics, audio and many more of these systems are so well made, that I don't think any mmorpg makes it this well. But on the other end PVE, Boss fights, Item farming, Bag/Storage and many more in this direction is so far behind from other mmos. I wish that when I played Mitation Bosses they would include better & stronger boss mechanics that require you to dodge/complete sertain mechanics. Increasing damage and adding annoying dots is in my opinion a very lazy way of making Higher level content. I would imagine completely different approuch. Like I said way harder content that punishes bad players, but rewards highly good players. Recently I have been really unhappy with where the game is going. So many bugs, servers are bad, pvp is getting unbalanced. So many bad decisions in general. I hope they will get things together, because S4 made me quit. Hopefully not for long.
don't worry, we'll get a new OPR map in 2025! Just two years of expansions, new dungeons, but the repeatable PvP modes negelected aside from one Arena map.
I just wish that there was another way to get orichalcum ore when there’s people taking the spots just standing there and fighting for it preventing me to level up my crafting..I think ores should also have a price limit since it’s crucial to crafting
There was another buy to play game that had a similar start and was complimented for its combat and pvp as well. It took years of content and an expansion known as Heart of Thorns to break into the mmo market competitively. That game was Guild Wars 2. New World has a shot. It just needs more content for people to digest. If the playerbase remains loyal and developers support it the game will grow
We need new OPR maps and modes. New World has an amazing combat system, and I don't think AGS realizes what they are sleeping on in terms of what they can do by providing this.
What made me quit is the fast meta change, like as a casual player and still on building around the meta which is shirking heals, and then they just nerfed that thing so hard that I'm back to zero. And I think it's less than a month meta or idk.
I played a bunch after DLC. I finally stopped playing a few days ago because as a pvp player, its just dead for me. OPR is horrendous and is now the best way to level the pvp track. Arena nerf sucks for people not wanting a 45 minute pvp match. I have completed 150+ pvp tracks, but outside of influence races, it feels like there is nothing fun to do.
I agree with what you say with the addition that personally I am sick and tired of the way they cram expeditions and pvp down my throat, why why why do they have to force me to do these?
then NW just isnt for you.. most of us have other dire issues. and pvp is the best/main endgame content(along with added new content then) there is no game with pvp n combat like NW. they have sumthin special, but havent utilised it properly or more
@@MrProbstandrew If you say that to everyone who wants to play NW but doesn't enjoy PVP then it's no wonder the game looses players. If they can't make the game that satisfies players like myself then they are losing a big market.
Even PvP on new world sucks the majority of PvP players are on Albion online and BDo where the PvP is meaningful , And when TL release for sure NW is done
True. I think main issue with New world is bugs, each new thing they added during this years was buged, each of them. Where was no any new added content without critical bugs. And its anoying. That why ppl stoped playing it.
The problem is not with the game, it is 100% safe. It has things to improve, of course, surely many. The problem is basically the players, the voracity and immediacy of content, that is impossible for any dev team. Extremely demanding players, especially pvp players, who aim to achieve everything without playing an MMO, because the game as a whole is an MMO, not a shooter. New World is a great game, with a lot of content, but you have to play at a pace of enjoyment, without falling into stupid demands and without logical sense. I have almost 9,500 hours and I still enjoy every day within NW.
I'm glad I waited for the release of rise of the angry earth to start playing. Unfortunately all my friends stopped playing at this point of the expansion. Being vision impaired the accessibility features are kinda carrying the game for me. The fact that I've only mixed out 1 profession also helps. The reality is that they ruined their launch and a lot of ppl will never come back.
Oh how many videos with essentially the exact same title about new world. This happens with every live service I’ve played. It drops off, people complain and complain, UA-camrs exploit the negative sentiment and everyone jumps on it, then good things happen the next season and then everyone stops saying it’s the end until late in the season when they have a bad balance change in PvP.
The lack of a SEA server ruined a lot of the good things you said for a lot of people. The worst was combat. I admit combat was different from other games and the "class" system was versatile enough for people to experiment and come up with brilliant new ways to play. But the game was rough to play/unplayable for people based in Asia which is arguably a big playerbase. From the release of the game, it was clear that A LOT of people were interested and even up to August 27th, when I quit the game for good, there were still a ton of Asian players who hoped for an Asian-based server so we could start playing the game properly. I cant even begin to count the number of fights I've lost because of ping differences or the fact that I wasnt encouraged to even sign up for wars or to play the game seriously because it felt like it didnt matter if I did. The devs clearly didnt care about us so I decided to play other games and I didnt look back. I knew this game was dying then (it was blatantly obvious imo) and despite S3 I still believe its gonna keep leaking players because even my friends from the OCE region are slowly quitting the game. Its only a matter of time before the game dies imo. And I think its sooner than anyone thinks.
Added New Content which Developers claimed to be, actually were Copy pasted generic content. On top of that, previously existed sistems were nulified, and not replaced but rather developed simply
For the soul trials this season I got really heated by the loot. The boss where you grab the fire rings to protect from the frostbite dropped me level 600 gear. Literally flat 600. I walked in with 700GS. Then Modir or whatever the final guy's name is dropped me health/mana potions. They made it so much easier to get DECENT gear quick with loot bias and kiln but man the drops are outrageously bad.
Great video, I very much agree with most of your conclusions & observations. A short summary could be: New World does not work as a Live Service Game. My personal experience with the game was: I played the heck out of it at launch but was quickly turned away by the endgame. I came back for Elysian Wilds and played the heck out of it once more, but essentially the same happened at endgame. While the situation is obviously far better than it was at launch, there still just isn't enough interesting stuff to do in the endgame.
In a previous video, they discussed their desire to access content more quickly to get fun faster.....But here are just a few examples : - OPR: 90% full range composition, unbalanced teams with sometimes up to 5-6 healers on one side against 1 on the other. PVE adds another layer with indestructible doors...1 guy can old 15 others just by repairing it. - Arenas : 3v3 is almost non-existent, no competitive play, and solo queuing result to face healer compositions, where most of the time, you can do nothing. - The game's economy is completely broken. It is nice to craft a bis for 50k to 100k (approximatively) but daily activities only gives about 1000 to 1500 gold per day (without farm - just the classic one). Compared to the 5k needed to buy a single chromatic Seal. For more casual players, this is difficult ofc ! If you spend your time every evening to do that, this is not enjoyable and time consuming. - It's hard to engage in all the endgame content if you get demolished in PvP or not selected for dungeons. - The bugs are becoming more frequent, and often old bugs reappear. - I play with both new and returning players. In OPR, they get demolished and there's a lot of frustration in voice chat. I doubt they'll last another one or two weeks, and I don't talk about wars... which is a niche. Perhaps they should consider the issue more seriously if they want their game to be successful.
After 5500 hrs of playing the game since day one. I’ve finally called with quits for NW. I just got tired of replaying the same content constantly and I felt like the game wasn’t progressing Iike other MMO’s like ff 14.
One of the best 80 hrs of my life. I was not even maxed out. It was fun to see members of your faction spamming recruitment message to defend an area and congratulatory spam when they won. I have not felt that cooperation since ragnarok online.
I also had that feeling with territory wars in Eden Eternal and continent relics in Aika as you would literally have to get a raid group and invade the other continents
My thoughts are AGS botched two key things... 1. Frequency of getting updates out to correct issues. No-one wants to know one of their peeves is to be addressed in Q4 24 or whatever, and two others are "being thought about" with no hope of design or release. It's not good enough. 2. Marketing/communication. I mean...talk about raising the wrong topic at the wrong time, whilst at the same time zero transparency on what they acknowledge is a gap and how they're working on it. The inventory storage system needs an update and overhaul, what are they doing about it? Are they even considering updating it? Is it even on a roadmap or does it exist as a post-it note on a board somewhere in their office? Without the communication, you can easily feel doubt and hopelessness...and give up on the game. Worst team for communication really.
There is an issue between AGS that us adding traditional mmo content like dungeons, story content, seasonal events, and big part of the player base who for some reason in this game only cares about PvP and nothing else
What New World Needs.... is more incentive to go out and PvP any time during the day. More content for solo players to grow without needing a party.... More PvP Maps with different objectives. Adjust combat to be more fluid for some weapons and their skill animations. Biggest problem for New World I think.... Is that most gameplay doesn't feel rewarding.
New World failed after the wars failed and chest looting issues, since the Wars / PVP were supposed to be the primary goal of the end game. Launch issues were to be expected, other issues should have never existed. Then there was nothing to do for endgame. When New World failed to deliver proper content and updates, most of us as part of the initial player base quit. Gave up when it seemed devs wanted to do nothing but push out skins / housing decor for extra money. Best PVP in an MMORPG in my opinion was Archeage / Aion. Combat in NW wasn't terrible but needed serious work.
The potential of this game is really high, but they needs a good team to work in it , the game needs more content and more bugs resolution. They have to improve the PvP part and the pve part that are both important to keep more people on the game. They have to improve the monetizing in game, trying to build something on the game who can make money to the people ( and with last update of the forge is completely broken ). I think the monst important problem about their project is that are choosing all the times different ways and is all a building and destruction, building and destruction.... i spend time and money for dungeons sets and after 1 years they remove all... so sad.
I hadn't get that addicted (in a good way) to a game since World of Warcraft in 2005. So this saddens me a lot. I'm really picky when it comes to games (you may laugh that i play NW but this PVP combat is something i never get bored of), so it will be pretty sad for me that this game will possibly not make it for long. I don't know if i ever like a game so much again, probably not.
When this game released i spent hours a day on this. This made me speak great about New World and recommened it to others that needed their next MMO. Just seems to be going on that downwards slope as you described here. Came back for the expansion and felt underwhelmed. The community may complain but they just want your game to do well and thrive in the market it so easily could. MMO's are a dying breed these days. New World could easily capitilize on this ip.
I think more importantly would be a change in leadership. The vision, direction, and allocation of resources set by the leadership is killing the game.
This game is just ridiculously thin on content. It's pirate themed and there's no ships, ship combat, you can't even swim, lacks sandbox elements to make wars and battles feel different based on what the players decide to do instead of the same thing over and over. Now with mounts the world feels small. They need to make the game much much bigger.
Completely agree Jay. I paid for the expansion, and quickly lost interest. Over 9k hours in the game and it just seemed to be more of what we've been doing for the past 2 years. I'm done with the game unless something major changes.
Good video man. It was well thought out! You can see the "wasted potential" actively in game outside the major towns. Groups of up to 50 pvp players dueling in the road. Why can ASG not figure out how to keep these players busy in game? Because they have done all the content and have literally 0 reason to open world pvp. All the pvp outside of outpost rush and arena is time-gated, and there is zero reason for players to be in the world fighting outside those time gates. ASG. For the love of God you have to figure out open world, small groups pvp that has no time gates, and is relevant to a progression system. There are so many ways to do it, and you need to do it. 90% of your world is empty, and players are standing around wanting to play, but bored.
the expansion offers some very important system changes, yes. system changes that players who own the base game also deserve. it doesn't make sense to me that you buy a game to enjoy it, and it's not entertaining you because of some dumb details. and they sell all these fixes as a separate package xD even then, the lack of content is a major issue. I must say that the gameplay felt awesome. But after season 2, my computer wasn't able to give even half of the FPS I used to get before season 2, for some reason. that's the major reason i didnt buy the expansion and not planning to.
WOW was the first MMORPG i played for years, i dont remember it being anywhere near this bad for bugs, issues and broken mechanics, from launch till now this game is just one bunch of broken examples one after the other, they need a consistant solid clean launch of content, some easy QOL will make the game much more manageable like one linked bank you can store whatever you want in, no money cap especially if they are not going to address the loot drop issue and undermining player crafts unless its BIS and making stuff as expensive as your whole wallet allowance, they need to eliminate the bots like go on a consistant spree, making stuff worth farming to make money, otherwise we just grind dungeons and OPR till im blue in the face, you end up not experiencing the world its absolutely BEAUTIFUL. they need to actually address the issues raised on the PTR .... or allow more time as long as its smooth. the combat as you stated is AMAZING, its extermely interactive and varied, i would not say its totally balanced (the fact great axe and hammer users use heavy armor are extremely tanky and output the most consistant damage ive seen in the game whilst taking the least damage) which has been the same since launch.....
It was my feeling at the time of the release of Rise of the Angry Earth that the expansion would not dramatically alter gameplay for those at the then-max-level. As a consequence, I didn't purchase the expansion. I generally don't pay for anything that includes the promise of a future good. It's not a viable spending habit, and video games in particular have show me that this is the case.
items management is a disaster. yeah it's much better but all my item storage locations are over flowing. I just drop around 5 thousand pounds of items on the floor daily and still can't keep up. And where are all my missing house items? House items can't go missing at this stage of the game.
Question: How many MMORPGs have you played? Because this is literally the way most mmos go from launch. Yea sure not the best start, but I feel like you might not have much experience with other mmos? I could be wrong though! Also a lot of misinformation about other MMO's. id encourage some research into what others offer. I.e. End of Dragons wasnt this year, and had a different expac. Raids ceased a LONG time ago as well.
Amazon makes this game and yet their trade post item search ability is the worst I have ever seen. I recently stopped playing at the start of season 4 when the servers went down while I was fishing. I lost my fishing pole and I am very pissed.
The point that really hit home was how there doesn't feel like any reason to spend time in Elysian Wilds other than getting the couple artifacts. I'm still in Brimstone daily doing things, but don't have much reason to go to EW. With how they planned out the economy there isn't much incentive to gather there. They made the chest runs there too insignificant and annoying to bother. EW was really a huge miss for content.
Agree. I play solo. I like playing solo, except I do enjoy joining faction wars. That being said, once you hit 65 if you can't solo 5 mobs at the same time then you're basically done.
It feels to me like people are confusing 'unique' combat with already-long-since-imagined combat. There's literally nothing unique about it. It's just action combat. But action combat, because of lag/latencies, doesn't mix with MMOs. Tab-target was created because of this. It's been thought of before plenty.
I enjoyed the game at first. But whatever changes they have done to the servers, likely to save money, has caused the lag (especially around cities) to make the game unplayable for me.
I finally hit my breaking point, they gave us almost nothing this patch and it was still broken. Theres nothing to play for. Finally after 3500 hours I honestly have 0 drive to play, thank god.
Even at their poor pace of development, if they switched gears and focus on what we actually want, the game would be a lot more successful. We need proper raids, more pvp content, etc.
The Glacial Expidition bug is the only thing that has ever really bothered me. I am all in on New World. I will continue to play it until they shutter the servers. I have plenty of stuff to do still.
Personally I thought the new DLC expansion zone was a flop. Writing over First Light zone with the new expansion DLC was a big mistake. It ruined player's time investment and aesthetics of the whole game. I take it in comparison to with Classic WoW. Where the expansion Cataclysm changed many zones of Classic WoW. Also, New World took gold away from players making gathering resources a waste of time. No reason to go out in the world. A good thing about the new expansion were the mounts. But this couldn't offset the disappointment from players IMO.
I decided to stop playing yesterday. I have 3 builds currently: firemage, bow, and bruiser. Normally, I prefer to play bruiser, but after some games, I swap back to my mage. The reason is that I do a lot of damage, I have a lot of survivability, i can run away easy in light armor, and I don't depend on any healer. While with my bruiser, I need a healer, and I feel me very slow, and in disadvantage when I fight someone in light armor. Also, every time I play OPR, I see every time more and more range builds, especially boltcasters, hitting like trucks, and it makes me sick. I understand AGS says that they don't have high win rates, but they do a lot of damage and have a lot of mobility and escape options. And from my side, im done with it. I don't want to play it because I don't feel my original, and I also don't want to play against them in medium or heavy armor outside of arenas. For me, season 4 didn't fix nothing, didn't bring anything new, and pvp is a counter strike mode.
Action combat is the bread and butter of an mmo, because it feels like a fun skill to learn and could take a while to become competent. It also makes almost every fight engaging. Wasted potential is 100% accurate. I hope they can right the ship
I am new to new world. I picked it up on steam autumn sale. Paid $15 and leveled to 60. I along with my friends were happy with it then we paid for the expansion ….. then it’s like umm okay 5 more levels then a bit more gear score. It seems like leveling was way too fast and no need to go to MANY zones. We leveled to 65 and never stepped foot into a single expedition. I felt that we just skipped a lot of the game. Overall I will say my cost to entry of $45 for the base then expansion it’s worth it as I have slightly over 100 hours so far but it also seems like the community is kinda bleh it’s dying. I dunno beautiful game with potential but I doubt it comes back.
They can still fix New World. Amazon just has to stop being cheap and hire whoever they have to, to get their game studio going. If New World became the fall of Amazon because it bankrupted the company, that would be freaking awesome and amazing but totally impossible. They should either fix their game or shut down their studio now, they have no chance at LOTR if they cant pick this game up.
To bad wars only happen when some of us are at work. Small server pop means you cannot do anything off peak but gather. RNG dungeons loot locked behind random, weekly lock outs. AGS just does not respect gamers time.
Lack of a proper storyline, dramatized gameplay cinematics, absence of any feeling and much needed quality of life mount system behind a pay-wall killed the game for me.
The amount of people who are able to do that are very very limited and also they burn out the quickest.
sameeeeeee
@@SmartyMcSmartsen Speed runs, yet another player driven trivialisation of the content the devs were too silly to discourage.
@@DavidAppleby man shut up goofy dadgamer
with no PvP content coming for probably at least 6 months, might be time for an extended break as well!
- OPR Role-Based matchmaking
- New OPR map(s)
- New Modes: 20v20 Fort Siege (Queueable Fort Fights), Capture the Flag, Payload push, 5v5 modes, 10v10 modes...freaking anything, man.
Pvp lul.
not quite that low on my part in war my fps doesnt drop from 80 its usually cpu bound i have a ryzen 7 7800x3d oc to 5.5ghz @@davidnone8951
They cannot keep saying they will go slower and get it right the first time and still not achieve a better result it is really disappointing maybe one day they will get it right,
As always love your videos dude keep it up

new world is one of those games that'll be good after it dies and people make their own servers to run the game.

Agreed on the last point for sure, new pve content means nothing if everyone zergs it out.
i left the game 4 months ago and came back 3 days ago , bought the expansion then got into the game to find my houses and all my trophies are gone , i talked to 4 supports and made a ticket. they basically said to me we can't check the account's information because you left months ago we can only check info for about 2 weeks and we can't give you anything back , sadly all that major trophy farming wasted
Its a current bug affecting all players. Items aren't gone, just not visible.

S4 really didn't offer much to do, which is a shame for sure

The expansion might be short of content but I'm glad they are working on their ethics and slowly removing how encrypted basic mechanics are.
also that guy scott is clearly the biggest problem amongst their leadership. The less he does the better the game will probably get.
They already do thag
The 3 things for me that new world needs the most are as ordered,
Cross server expeditions
Arena matchmaking.
Performance fixes
noone needs that shit. only new pvp modes and no arena trashmode
@@lowensohn467arena is best best unlike trash that is opr
It’s honestly mind boggling they can’t make the simple improvements people want -
1). Make a OPR map that’s capture the flag or king of the mountain for PvP.
2). Make a tiered PvP leaderboard
3). PvE - make a 10-20 man raid that’s 40-45 mins that has mini bosses / mobs with varied spec requirements where you could have 2 tanks / 2 healers and make the loot worth it.
Extremely simple
“I’m doing the exact same thing just with artifacts and higher level”
Holy cow how many times did I preach that in their discord and on Reddit for people to roast me and tell me idk what I’m talking about.
See I sort of think, if they went full into vertical progressions things would have been better, the problem is, we are half andhalf
Its missing huge chunk of content (Different Maps for OPR, Massive Open World content (Boss fights, Instance Dungeon that you don't need to grind your ass off for 5hrs, Less Gold Potential earnings unless you go hardcore_)
Its sad to see that you get back from a hard days of work in real life, you are supposed to sit down on your chair and play the game to have fun, yet instead its giving you more work just to get better gears or gold, glad i quit this game it is indeed a Wasted Potential.
Add in the bugs and other issues and you have a meandering, bug-ridden mess of a game that will always be a "could have" in the history of MMOs.
anything AGS touches it kills. The problem is that they outsource everything. game dead is game
These developers disappoint me at every turn. It is honestly embarrassing at this point.
Totally agree.
Waste of an incredible potential.
Only we can do now is hope for a good 2024 Roadmap...
They don't care they're all pve fs enjoyers
What made me quit is the fast meta change, like as a casual player and still on building around the meta which is shirking heals, and then they just nerfed that thing so hard that I'm back to zero. And I think it's less than a month meta or idk.
New world has been some of the best mmo memories I've made. Wish they introduced raids. Each season/xpac bringing a new 10-20 man end game raid.
I'd love for this game to ha e big raids
Realm Vs Realm in Throne And Liberty ? where did you see this ? sounds awsome
Whenever i try to get my friends in this game, they quit during the leveling. At this point, just add a level boost.
100% agreed
I can guarantee that if they make an asia server. They can fill up to 6-8 server with max population even with this game at it’s lowest state.
Added New Content which Developers claimed to be, actually were Copy pasted generic content. On top of that, previously existed sistems were nulified, and not replaced but rather developed simply
no sea server?
For the soul trials this season I got really heated by the loot. The boss where you grab the fire rings to protect from the frostbite dropped me level 600 gear. Literally flat 600. I walked in with 700GS. Then Modir or whatever the final guy's name is dropped me health/mana potions. They made it so much easier to get DECENT gear quick with loot bias and kiln but man the drops are outrageously bad.
yeah they just have a normal random chest
The new "expansion" was absolutely underwhelming in terms of new content. The game lacks good content
Great video, I very much agree with most of your conclusions & observations.
A short summary could be: New World does not work as a Live Service Game.
My personal experience with the game was:
I played the heck out of it at launch but was quickly turned away by the endgame.
I came back for Elysian Wilds and played the heck out of it once more, but essentially the same happened at endgame.
While the situation is obviously far better than it was at launch, there still just isn't enough interesting stuff to do in the endgame.
In a previous video, they discussed their desire to access content more quickly to get fun faster.....But here are just a few examples :
- OPR: 90% full range composition, unbalanced teams with sometimes up to 5-6 healers on one side against 1 on the other.
Jay, this video is great, thanks for taking the time to put it together!
No MMR and ranked for arena is mind blowing. No damage meters for mutators is mind blowing. Such low having fruit
Having to pay for the xpac to get my mutations back was enough for me to quit for good.
I think the monst important problem about their project is that are choosing all the times different ways and is all a building and destruction, building and destruction.... i spend time and money for dungeons sets and after 1 years they remove all... so sad.
It's funny how a big chunk of the "best content" was them finally removing bugs and mechanics people have hated since day 1
@Jay Oddity. Have you ever tried Warframe? That could be a great game to try on stream+ videos
My question is why add seasonal content which is amazing yet temporary that no new player that joins post season will even experience.
What New World really needs is new, competent Dev team, ideally with MMO experience
I lost my fishing pole and I am very pissed.
imagine that we've been playing the same single map of OPR since its launch..
