Having more than 30 albums he released, much in the same vein as Tom MacDoonald. (Chris won a grammy He rodeod - not just making the circuit He won the bareback championship at NFR in Vegas. He never disappointed a fan. HUGE,fun, spill into a street dance concerts that were epic. Veryi mpressive life. However it was his personal life where he was irreplaceable. He was a good dad and husband. I f you just head further into his play lists you'll hear his and zoeggy's love story. He died at 56, far too young but he's caught cancer and survived an organ transplant. He was a really good man. He made this world better place.

When speaking about that accomplishment LeDoux chuckled recalling his bounty. “I won a saddle and a buckle, and I got a hat and a pair of boots - and a little bit of money. The money’s gone. The boots are worn out. The hat’s gone - someone bit a big chunk out of it at Fort Worth that next winter. I still have the saddle and the buckle. But that championship gave me credibility in the music that I’m doing and helped tremendously,”

I have every song Chris ever recorded, on cassette & CD, some on 8 track (yes, I’m that old) Chris is one of my heroes, & I don’t throw that word around lightly.

I had a friend who went to one of his live shows, he told me Chris REALLY put on a show, right down to riding a mechanical bull on stage.... This was while he was still recovering from his (Ultimately fatal) liver cancer treatment... He has a variety of songs.. He can do love songs, such as "Tougher Then The Rest" or "Western Skies" and then just tear it up with sings like "Hooked on an 8 Second Ride" or "Bareback Jack" and everything in between... Many of his songs, most of which he wrote or co wrote himself, are about Rodeos, while others are about other things... He got famous when Garth Brooks name dropped Chris in his first single, "Much Too Young To Be This Damn Old"... Garth and Chris became good friends and worked together too... They made the duets "What'cha Gonna Do With a Cowboy" and "Some Things Never Change"... Garth even put out a tribute to Chris called "Good Ride, Cowboy" after he passed... Chris worked with other artists too, such as Toby Keith, with the song "Copenhagen"... One of my favorite Chris Ledoux songs is "Silence On The Line"... It is also tells a story... Chris was 100% Wyoming proud. This past weekend was Chis LeDoux (La Do) days in Kaycee, Wy where he lived for many years before passing away. Nearly his entire family still lives here and I'm honored to call them friends. I spoke with Peggy his wife a few days ago. Been in his office many times and it's a museum to his accomplishments. All the rodeo buckles, his saddle, guitars, and the gold records on the wall. Unfortunately he passed before I moved to this area, but the stories you hear from the locals let you know he was much more than a champion rodeo rider or a musician.
I remember growing up listening to Chris Ledoux with my mom. Everytime he pops up in my playlist, I reminisce about the times we had together. Great artist and great memories. And also. Upchurch mentions him in Real Country, "unless you been whiskey bent blaring Chris Ledoux."

When I was competing in High School Rodeo, I met Chris right after he won the Professional Rodeo Cowboy Bareback Bronc riding championship in 1976. He was so genuine and willing to offer advice to a high school kid. The Pride of Kaycee, Wyoming. RIP Chris.

He had a devoted regional following. He was working on his ranch one day in 1989 and he had the radio on in the truck. Garth Brooks’ new single “Much Too Young (To Feel This Damn Old)” had just dropped. In the song Garth mentions “A worn-out tape of Chris LeDoux, lonely women and bad booze” being his only friends. Now, this was Garth at the height of his popularity and he’d just name-dropped Chris LeDoux. Chris about ran his truck off the road when he heard it. He had no expectation that Garth even knew who he was. But now, Garth had made sure everyone knew his name, and not only did Chris’s career go to the next level because of it, but the two became great friends. When Chris needed a liver transplant in 2000, Garth even volunteered to be a donor but he wasn’t a match. Chris LeDoux died of cancer in 2005. He was a great artist, a good guy, and a genuine badass.

The cowboy traditions -the hat is a sacred part of a man’s wardrobe. Most have one particular one that literally has their life story on it like this song portrayed. There is a care ritual to it like most people detail a car. I still have my 4X Resistol hat I bought in 1991

I used to see Chris in concerts in Oklahoma, most the time I the Chris Ledoux and Calf Fries concert in Stillwater, OK. When you watch Garth Brooks most of how he presents himself on stage he learned from Chris. The band is still together and his son took his place. I was listening and he was good but he hit a note singing “Western Skies” I just froze because he sounded exactly like his dad. He’s he’s wearing wranglers boot cut jeans.

His family just release an official music video for this song. It’s definitely worth a watch. It features Chris’s son Ned and Ned’s bandmate Lane Turner. Ned continues to perform and while he has his own music still performs his dad’s songs and sounds similar to him.
Chris Ledoux, in addition to being a professional rodeo cowboy, sings lots of songs about rodeo life, country life, and cowboy/western themes, even moreso than his contemporaries in the country music genre. He is also one of the best examples of a rare sub-genre: Cowboy Rock. For the best song he has in that category, you should listen to Hooked On An 8-second Ride. It’s a song about a bull rider, but the music that plays to it sounds like 80s heavy metal; not something you’d expect from a western cowboy singer.
Garth Brooks and Chris were great friends. Garth's first radio single "Much Too Young (To Feel This Damn Old)" mentions Chris and, after Chris passed, Garth wrote and released "Just LeDoux It" as an homage to his pal. As with all of Garth's songs, you'll have to find the live version from one of his TV specials to do a proper reaction.
Chris Ledoux is a compelling story on his own. A real deal rodeo champion cowboy who made some great music. Prior to his mention in Garth Brooks' song "Much to young" Ledoux wasn't very well known in the music world, except on the rodeo circuit. The song "Much too young" sort of launched both Garth Brooks and Chris Ledoux's careers. You should really check out "Much too Young" by Garth.
Hey Britt. Chris was a heck of an entertainer. Sadly lost too soon to cancer. He was a bronc riding champion and a rancher as well as a musician. He played mostly small venues and did shows after the rodeos. he had a bit of a rockin country style and even in small venues was doing light and laser shows and flash pots etc. Gart Brooks saw him perform and stole err I mean borrowed the show style and then cranked it up on a huge scale. I had never heard of Chris' music until garth's song Much too Young to Feel This Damn Old in which he mentions a worn out tape of Chris Ledoux. Pronounced like La-Dew. Chris got a lot more notoriety after Garth's song, and started playing some bigger places. You should btw check out the Garth song that I mentioned if you can find it on YT. Hard to find Garth songs where he is actually the one singing. Old Garth doesn't like to let a nickel get away. Enjoyed your reaction as always. Have a great summer. A touch of trivia, Chris was born and raised here in Wyoming. Went to college at the one in my city. He was a legit rodeo star before he started singing and made it big, sadly his life ended way to early.

All you need to know about Chris Ledoux is that Garth Brooks LOVED him. This song reminds me lot of Brooks in "Thunder Road" and "Rodeo". That guitar solo has a bit of Dire Straits in it, too.

I used to see Chris in concerts in Oklahoma, most the time I the Chris Ledoux and Calf Fries concert in Stillwater, OK. When you watch Garth Brooks most of how he presents himself on stage he learned from Chris. The band is still together and his son took his place. I was listening and he was good but he hit a note singing “Western Skies” I just froze because he sounded exactly like his dad. He’s he’s wearing wranglers boot cut jeans.

For all the Texas talk, Chris lived outside of Kaycee, Wyoming. My wife and I have fond memories of seeing him live a number of times in Greeley and Cheyenne.
I've got my dad's old cowboy hat. It has a few stories tied to it. Barbara mandrel and Janie Frickie both signed the inside of it.
My grandfather gave me his hat before he passed, his buddy from Vietnam was Apache, gave him a leather band adorned with feathers, beads, and snake skin

His family just release an official music video for this song. It’s definitely worth a watch. It features Chris’s son Ned and Ned’s bandmate Lane Turner. Ned continues to perform and while he has his own music still performs his dad’s songs and sounds similar to him.
He got into singing when he met Merle Hagard. The story happened in Texas, he's from Wyoming.
Chris Ledoux, in addition to being a professional rodeo cowboy, sings lots of songs about rodeo life, country life, and cowboy/western themes, even moreso than his contemporaries in the country music genre. He is also one of the best examples of a rare sub-genre: Cowboy Rock. For the best song he has in that category, you should listen to Hooked On An 8-second Ride. It’s a song about a bull rider, but the music that plays to it sounds like 80s heavy metal; not something you’d expect from a western cowboy singer.
Garth Brooks and Chris were great friends. Garth's first radio single "Much Too Young (To Feel This Damn Old)" mentions Chris and, after Chris passed, Garth wrote and released "Just LeDoux It" as an homage to his pal. As with all of Garth's songs, you'll have to find the live version from one of his TV specials to do a proper reaction.

Chris Ledoux is a compelling story on his own. A real deal rodeo champion cowboy who made some great music. Prior to his mention in Garth Brooks' song "Much to young" Ledoux wasn't very well known in the music world, except on the rodeo circuit. The song "Much too young" sort of launched both Garth Brooks and Chris Ledoux's careers. You should really check out "Much too Young" by Garth.

Hey Britt. Chris was a heck of an entertainer. Sadly lost too soon to cancer. He was a bronc riding champion and a rancher as well as a musician. He played mostly small venues and did shows after the rodeos. he had a bit of a rockin country style and even in small venues was doing light and laser shows and flash pots etc. Gart Brooks saw him perform and stole err I mean borrowed the show style and then cranked it up on a huge scale. I had never heard of Chris' music until garth's song Much too Young to Feel This Damn Old in which he mentions a worn out tape of Chris Ledoux. Pronounced like La-Dew. Chris got a lot more notoriety after Garth's song, and started playing some bigger places. You should btw check out the Garth song that I mentioned if you can find it on YT. Hard to find Garth songs where he is actually the one singing. Old Garth doesn't like to let a nickel get away. Enjoyed your reaction as always. Have a great summer. A touch of trivia, Chris was born and raised here in Wyoming. Went to college at the one in my city. He was a legit rodeo star before he started singing and made it big, sadly his life ended way to early.

Chris was the country music Legends legend. Garth Brooks often says that he patted a lot of his live show partially from Chris's shows. They were very good friends and Garth even went so far as to offer a kidney when Chris was sick. Unfortunately he wasn't compatible.

When I was young, after having just broken up with my then girlfriend, I turned on Chris' song "Old Paint" and just let my old pick-m-up truck get me back home. It knew the way. Just like a train.
