    This is a very high performance, high bandwidth RAID card that I'll be using to do some testing with the OCZ Onyx SSD drive. It supports all the latest features, and I even have a battery back up that I'll be talking about a little bit in case you ever wondered what a battery back up does on a RAID controller.

      Thing is though, his content way back in the day (even this one for example) is so much more educational. LMG today is basically -
      Intro ad
      B-roll
      couple mins of content, usually pointless
      B-roll

      Value? meh

    6:15 Crazy how nowadays consumer-grade HDDs have cache sizes of 128MB or 256MB in some cases with 64MB being a low average. I don't even look for 32MB-cache HDDs anymore (in fact, never have in the six years I've had my hands in computer hardware).

Thank you in advance :)

      Intel sells an expander card with 24 ports. Multiple jumper cables are included to connect to your existing raid card. Also there are SAS and SATA breakout cables available for these cards. I use 20 SATA drives on this raid card in conjunction with an Intel expander card.

    • @RafalBorowski
      @RafalBorowski 7 років тому

      +moosejaw50 So... You connect one MiniSAS port from the HBA card to one MiniSAS port on the expander right? That leaves 5 ports on expander making it 20 SATA connections right? But... what with the second one? I saw on the Intel tech video that they plugged second port prom the HBA also into the expander thus leaving only 4 ports - 16 sata. What difference does it make? Throughput? Is it like if you connect via one cable you get 3Gbps and with 2 you get 6Gbps or what?
      PS. I just checked the price of the expander... yeah... It's cheaper to just buy 2 more HBA controllers and be done with it :P Unless there is a reason why you wouldn't want 3 HBAs in one system that I am not aware of?

For the last week I've been trying to fix this stupid controller to work with an SSD. In doing so i have developed a deep hatred for Lenovo, IBM and lsi/avago/Broadcom.
