also btw the Demos are her rough brainstormed idea she recorded in her laptop and phone before she brought them in an actual studio. They’re just to show her process of making music and maybe to show how scratchy songs are in the beginning phases.

the “demo” versions are the rawest cut versions of these songs. they’re pretty much just Marina going “oh i have an idea for a song, let me grab my laptop”. She likely added them to the deluxe as just some cute and fun behind the scenes

You should check out Marina’s cover of 3OH!3’s “Starstrukk”, I think besides Mowgli’s Road that was one of the first Marina songs I ever heard and it completely sold me on her and her voice. She turns it from this cheap pop song into a super sad ballad somehow. Also her cover of Justin Bieber’s “Boyfriend” where she changes the lyrics a little which normally I don’t like when people change pronouns in covers but she actually makes it entirely her own and does it from the perspective of the girlfriend and it’s also more ballady

you would love the unreleased songs of love and fear, they are better than the album.
The family jewels is so CHAOTIC, basically is an album talking about how she hates her dad and family, society, mental health, but the production is VERy messy, sometimes is annoying, in the lyrics so much songs have double entendres like mowgli’s road, seventeen, hermit the frog and girls, also mowgli’s road is connected to mostly the majority of hers songs that they have the answer for “who i wanna be?”, the songs are Oh no, teen idle, Immortal, soft to be strong and Ancient dreams in a modern land.

I really like love and fear. However I'm torn with ancient dreams. I like the structure of the songs but the lyrics are too preachy and a little skewed in their wording imo. The bridge in free woman is horrible.
