I got literal chills immediately with Dany's opening vocal slide, and the song just got better for me from there (but I'm a huge fan of both bands :) ). To me, the standout highlight here was how unbelievably well Saiki and Dany's voices blended together.
This might not be my favorite song, but it’s up there as one of my favorite collaborations. Like you said, especially the video. It’s like two groups jamming and celebrating each other, and it’s just so lovely.

The groups knew of each other and got to meet at Aftershock in 2022 and said they had to do something together. Band-Maid invited them to do a show together in Japan and The Warning accepted and did a small tour in Japan this past June. I commend the effort of *The Warning* for flying out to Japan a little over a week before the concert work on recording the tracks, shooting the music video and rehearsing with *BAND-MAID* for the live concert. The transition of the instrument was amazing *Ale* staring the riff and *MISA* finishing and *Dany* starting and *Kanami* finishing and *Akane* staring and *Pau* finishing just smooth transitions. Each time I listen to the song the more I enjoy the passion and effort that was put into this track.
That was a really neat reaction video. Loved watching your face as the video hit, that was brilliant. I like the song a lot, but I agree with you that the video makes it batter. Heck, the video takes it to the next level! I loved the touch of Cyberpunk with Dany and Saiki (And yes I did have to Google her name) singing on the helicopter pad atop a Tokoyo skyscraper. Apologies if you knew this already, but some fans of TW refer to Ale as Thunder-girl, or The Goddess of Thunder, the bassist for BM, Misa, rejoices in the nickname, The Barefoot Assassin. And for some reason I found the two of them, with these nicknames, playing off reach other rather cool. Okay, I found all of the playing off of each other cool, but those two especially so.
And I'm listing this sperately since I'm not sure how UA-cam likes links, but BM & TW did an interview with Billboard magazine about their collaboration. Link below:
There's a print interview in Billboard magazine online about the making of the song. My understanding is that they planned the song out ahead of time, then each band recorded their parts in their respective countries. They got together for the video shoot when The Warning was in Japan, but the track was already done by then.
Normally I "see" your reaction videos, but since I discovered at breakfast that you had posted the video and didn't have time to watch it, I "heard" it in the car on the way to work. I don't think I've ever been to work so quickly 😂... of course I heard your comment that you should definitely see the video (which isn't necessarily healthy when you're driving) and I couldn't wait to see this collaboration between the two bands. I just saw it on the big screen with my teens and, as always, there was discussion here again 😮. And as is usual with twins (mine anyway), one likes it and the other doesn't. I like it, but I don't need a video for it... it's now on dad's playlist for the car, so I can be sure that I'll get to work on time, even if I leave home too late (again) 😉.

The song is a perfectly balanced blend between the sounds of the two bands, Band-Maids complexity tuned down in favour of the stronger choruses typical of the Warning. It speaks for Kanami’s craft as a composer writing with other musician’s strengths in mind that she came up with this. Of course, it’s basically a compromise, which is never only a good thing to achieve great artistic results, but that wasn’t the point. It is fun and it’s a testament to their mutual affection and appreciation. Both bands are brilliant because of their social qualities, their interplay between the members, that complements the musicianship of all members. It’s clear that the more people are involved and the shorter the song, the bigger the challenge to master this complex equation. The Warning performs with backing tracks because they’re only a three piece, the Maids are five people who fill all spaces with ease, but as a rule of thumb their songs have to be four minutes long to give space to each member. I would love these two bands to do a song that lasts six minutes, where they play an instrument that’s usually on the backtrack on stage - the Villarreal sisters, Kanami, Misa and Akane are all multi-instrumentalist and could play keyboards or a horn - and where they blend Japanese and Spanish lyrics, making each other sing a chorus in the other’s language, on the subject of diversity and mutual respect and understanding. Maybe if they get the time to hang out in Mexico for a forthright together?
I agree, Band Maid could do this song on their own and it would have sounded just as good, cause Miku could sing back up. By The Way, this song is going to be on Band Maid's next Album.
I believe the collaboration was pre-planned. Apparently, there were more songs written by The Warning for this collaboration based on something one of the guitarists mentioned in a video for PRS guitars that she and Dany made. So we might see some more collaborative music from these two iconic bands.
I actually love the song. No it’s not heavy metal angry vocals big heavy bass. That’s fine by me. I’ve got a wide variety of tastes in music, so it didn’t lose me. I just love the positive uplifting lyrics. With the way so many young kids are inspired by these bands a song that’s about encouragement is a great thing.
Hey Ashlena! I agree with all your comments on this. It's a great and fun song, but for me the video makes it much better. I'd definitely put it on a gym playlist but maybe not a big active listen. I'm thrilled the bands were able to get together and do this as I hope they can grow their respective audiences from this. I want nothing but the greatest successes for both of these bands! On a side note and please not to be taken as a comparison, but this just shows me more why Dany is just my favourite vocalist at the moment. The tone of her voice just resonates with me. This is very cool. I've always loved to see musicians play with others with whom they don't normally work. Seeing them all shine together on this is great. The lyrics are really hard to hear, but fortunately, there are captions available. The message is quite positive and hopeful. Now Band Maid needs to schedule something with The Warning in Monterrey or Mexico City. I'm not a huge fan of Band Maid, but I'll probably check out their new album when it drops.
First time seeing this video glad you are doing it. I saw a fan cam from the live show of this song it was pretty cool but this video is so much better. I never got the battle of the bands vibe from them in the live fan cam tho. A huge amount of talent on display fun to watch. Thanks 🔥⚡
Kanami is the evil genius composer with big input into the arrangement - challenging all members with something new, especially Saiki and Dany singing at the top of their ranges.
Both bands not listening to “the norm”, making their own rules and having fun! Love them both!! I was there to see it live. The vibe was incredible!! Two bands, NO EGOS!!!
I was lucky to catch the live version before they took it down. the instrument battles are longer Pau and Akane trade off on the drums, the bass battle between Ale and Misa is legendary and the guitar trading between Dany and band maids guitarist shredded
I saw this video and after like the 10th time thought wow was that helipad not in use or did they have to tell people no landing here for awile we are shooting a badass video...🤔🤣😂🤘🔥⚡
Two of the best bands in the world coming together! I agree that the song was definitely more Band-Maid's style and the bass battle part was more Misa centered with her tone. I love seeing the 2 drum sets together as well, which they also did during the live debut. Obviously Dany's vocal delivery just keeps getting better and better and I've always liked Saiki's vocals too. Great job reppin' the Cold Front, Ash! I'm expecting to receive my Thrones CD tomorrow as well.
FTF is a great up and coming band.I remember watching them when they had the fan shot vids online and nothing else and thought there is some talent there, and Quinn did the amazing piano cover of Breathe before Pau even did it in public because it was so personal to her we ddint think she would ever do it LIVE ,back to FTF I knew if they got some financial help which they did with the kickstarter campaign, just like TW did years ago they would be on their way and they got that help and released that great EP with all the videos,I wish them all the luck and just like TW was they are so young .
Agree that this a B-M song, and for me, like them as a band, it’s technically brilliant, but missing something that TW brings to their songs. Great exposure for both bands to a wider audience though! Thanks for the reaction, Ash PS “Ok Mariah Carey, settle down!” may be your best reaction line ever! 🤣
Yes Dany has been doing so much Gritty Dany with the newest songs dropped off KMF..Here we get to hear the high note Dany breaking the glass..How BADASSERY was that note??Holy Shit is right!!Go Danyyyy Goooooo!!
Remember David Bendeth's quote about Ale in a behind-the-scenes video, "Ale can hang with the best of them?" Same thing now for Dany's vocals. Both lead singers are great and surprisingly sound somewhat similar, other than the English pronunciations.
Kanami wrote the song and even she admitted it was in too high of a key. Dany was comfortable there, but Saiki had some issues, especially in the live version. She's an amazing singer, but this pushed her range. Band Maid are amazing. I kinda hope Ale takes a page from Misa and starts throwing an occasional screw you bass solo in the mix. I know it's not TWA's thing now, but when they are headlining stadiums, throw it in to make everyone take notice. Yes, this is a Band Maid song, but here's to Mexico and TW's collaboration on a Spanish song. It's gonna happen. I'm so glad these bands met and fell in love with each other.
When Dany opens with her " wail" I believe it is a kind call to arms Japanese style. Ihave heard Misa in an older Bandmaid song that is in this style also.Dany Nailed It!!❤ It takes Alot of control. This not a Versus song. This is a two sides of the same coin song! Beautifully done 😊 and Ms. Kubato just playing and singing backup ( a good orchestra leader, indeed 😮 fun too❤ I'm Here!! Viva The Warning! Hail Bandmaid! If anybody knows more, please let me know.
The only complaint I have is I want MORE. We need extended face offs!
Agreed!!!
First time seeing this video glad you are doing it. I saw a fan cam from the live show of this song it was pretty cool but this video is so much better. I never got the battle of the bands vibe from them in the live fan cam tho. A huge amount of talent on display fun to watch. Thanks 🔥⚡
🤘🤘🤘🔥🔥🔥
From my source. Band-Maid guitarist 'Kanami' wrote this wrong for their collab (Edit: I had that Live Video not a phone/ig version)
Cool!
Kanami is the evil genius composer with big input into the arrangement - challenging all members with something new, especially Saiki and Dany singing at the top of their ranges.
Wooo🔥🔥
Both bands not listening to “the norm”, making their own rules and having fun! Love them both!! I was there to see it live. The vibe was incredible!! Two bands, NO EGOS!!!
That’s so cool!!!
🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼👏👏👏👏
I think this could happen because there isn't a big ego in the room.
MISA!!! MISA!!! MISA!!! 🥃🥃🥃 ALE!!! ALE!!! ALE!!! 🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽
I recomend the concert the warning in.polandrock amazing performance and amazing fans
Will do! Probably will get blocked :(

Kakatte koiyo!!!!! #BandMaid #APDVillaReality
I was lucky to catch the live version before they took it down. the instrument battles are longer Pau and Akane trade off on the drums, the bass battle between Ale and Misa is legendary and the guitar trading between Dany and band maids guitarist shredded
Quadruple Ashlena drop? This is an international holiday
😂😂😂🥳🥳🥳🥳
Great reaction! See you in Pomona!!
Can't wait!
The ending on the helipad. Time for liftoff. Quite literally
I saw this video and after like the 10th time thought wow was that helipad not in use or did they have to tell people no landing here for awile we are shooting a badass video...🤔🤣😂🤘🔥⚡
They snuck up on it 😂
Two of the best bands in the world coming together! I'm expecting to receive my Thrones CD tomorrow as well.
who need rap battle, you got battle there
FTF is a great up and coming band.I remember watching them when they had the fan shot vids online and nothing else and thought there is some talent there, and Quinn did the amazing piano cover of Breathe before Pau even did it in public because it was so personal to her we ddint think she would ever do it LIVE ,back to FTF I knew if they got some financial help which they did with the kickstarter campaign, just like TW did years ago they would be on their way and they got that help and released that great EP with all the videos,I wish them all the luck and just like TW was they are so young .
I got my CD because of the Kickstarter. 😁
@@TheUnderdogDe Hell Yeah!🤘
Seeing them live again on Saturday for the fourth time, woot! They tear up a stage like you can't believe.
Agree that this a B-M song, and for me, like them as a band, it’s technically brilliant, but missing something that TW brings to their songs. Great exposure for both bands to a wider audience though!
Thanks for the reaction, Ash
PS “Ok Mariah Carey, settle down!” may be your best reaction line ever! 🤣
lmao write that one down in the books.
Definitely watch the video for Grief on UA-cam. And befriend someone who has a cd player.
Yes Dany has been doing so much Gritty Dany with the newest songs dropped off KMF..Here we get to hear the high note Dany breaking the glass..How BADASSERY was that note??Holy Shit is right!!Go Danyyyy Goooooo!!
So insane!!!
I have never had a good "Vibe" from BM , I appreciate their talent but their music is just a mash of noise in my ears - great reaction as always !
Haha understandable and thanks!
When Dany opens with her
" wail" I believe it is a kind call to arms Japanese style. Ihave heard Misa in an older Bandmaid song that is in this style also.Dany Nailed It!!❤ It takes Alot of control. This not a
Versus song. This is a two sides of the same coin song! Beautifully done 😊 and Ms. Kubato just playing and singing backup ( a good orchestra leader, indeed 😮 fun too❤
I'm Here!! Viva The Warning! Hail Bandmaid!
If anybody knows more, please let me know. Heart swelling and hair raising 💓

the warning 🤘🤘🔥
I’m a warning fan period
Hi Ash. I agree 100%
The song is great, it's not my style. more than anything, how the voices are produced. but the truth is that it is very good song.
