This movie you should have seen when you were a kid. Now you can analyze dialogues, scenes, composition ... but if you were a child, when you finished watching it, you would call your friends, take your bicycles and wish you could enter a similar adventure. Back to the future and this movie marked my generation.
I am so glad i have seen such movies in my childhood...
We must be about the same age. Back to the future and Goonies for me as well.
Agree also home alone, the sandlot
One of the greatest movies ever made.
Back to when I was kid, I used to make a treasure map with some music notes on the back page.
They're called Goonies because they live in the Goon Docks, which is the poor part of town. The rich people from Hillside call them Goonies and the kids just adopted it as a badge of pride.
Sums it up nicely
that’s the way to do it. Take the insult and own it, that takes all the power out of it. Allowing yourself to be insulted by it just gives power to the other person.
Wrong! The Goon Docks is a nickname for The Boondocks. It isn't the poor part of town.
As a nickname, it's "good enough."
@@MrParkerman6 no he is correct the Goon Docks is the poorer part of Astoria, its where blue collar workers live
Goonies, Labyrinth and Neverending Story. The holy trinity of my childhood.
The Goonies, The Neverending Story and The Dark Crystal defined mine. Love these movies.
The holy Trinity indeed my friend. Indeed. My number 1 is the neverending story , I know word for word no lie. Also the book. Peace.
@@spiral5650 Oh yes Dark Crystal as well! Mmmmmm gelfling.
@El Vato suckus fartus out of yer arsus

When kids films treated kids like kids and not babies. It’s such a great kids film, I’m amazed you haven’t seen this before!? lol it’s a classic.
@McPoyle Brothers I was born in 94 but I thankfully did grow up with this and quite a bit of 80's cinema. Mostly because of being the youngest of 5 boys though.
@McPoyle Brothers Not surprised you missed ET. You would've been 2 when it came out and it didn't get released on VHS until '88, by then all of the pop culture hype was gone so it wasn't the same phenomenon it was in the first half of the '80s
Yeah, we could take off on our bikes and unless we were late for dinner all was well no matter where we ran off to.
Even though I say that, we rode our bikes so far at times that I know my parents would have been pissed if they had ever found out how far we got at times.
@@elzar760 you nailed it. I don't even know if kids these days understand the universality of "Just be home by dark/be home for dinner". Basically a free for all until then, haha
"Stand By Me" with River Phoenix it´s another good kids movie,
That scene with Chunk confessing all the horrible things he's done never fails to make me laugh my ass off. Even though I have been watching this film since I was a kid.
Hey ma - I'm startin to like this kid!
I've seen this movie since I was a kid and that scene still makes me laugh so much
HIT PURÉE!!!
In 3rd grade, I cheated in the history exam. In 4th grade, I stole my uncle's wig and glued to my face. I was Moses at the school play. In 5th grade, I pushed my sister off stairs, and I blamed it was her fault.
Yes, I am an 80s kid and have seen this a million times. That scene still to this day, makes me laugh out loud. Never gets old!
The "Hey you guuuuys!" line is originally from an 80's kids TV show called The Electric Company. The implication is the Sloth was watching it while locked in his basement.
Ahh, he said it because of the implication...
@@markrowe6967 Well, he certainly wasn't the FIRST to say it.
@@jscan4442 that dude was just referencing It's Always Sunny

@@JJDBaca That hokey Spiderman who threw nets as webs was my absolute favorite part of the show when I was a kid.
This movie is my childhood in a nutshell. Still watch it to this day. A constant classic
If i may recomend another older movie. Would be "Death Becomes Her" its fantastic!
Not to mention "The Witches of Eastwick."
Goonies and Stand by Me my favorite movies from my childhood.
Stand By Me is still a tear-jerker, decades later...
Both with Corey Feldman
Same, I love both films
I’ve grown up with this movie for 35 years. This is one of the movies that made the 80s what it was. As kids back then this is how we lived going on our own little adventures in the neighborhood or made our town our own playground. No computers, no internet, no social media, just our friends and our imagination.
@Karl Zaraiva chill out pal
Absolutely! My friends and I were always trying to create our own treasure hunts and adventures on our bikes. We were always hoping to find SOMETHING! We even planned a bike ride to the filming location (I live an hour away) but obviously would’ve taken way too long by bike, and I convinced the others not to do it because our parents would be too worried about us 😆
Gorwing up in the 80's was something special. Wondering town on your bike with your pals, just coming home to lunch and dinner and hitting the streets for fun and shenanigans until late in the night.
All that way of living is lost now.
Life definitely moved at a more languid pace back then.
Yep grew up in NZ in the 80's and this was my childhood film... and our neighborhood had our group of children, me and neighbors up and down the street all on our bikes exploring the large wooded park and native bush at the end of the street and golf coarse, building forts and exploring the dark scary places like the old WW2 gun bunkers that were hidden through out the area, we even lived 5 minutes down the road from the coast, granted nothing like the Oregon coast and we spent so much time getting up to mischief... thats all sort of gone for kids now days, but i guess for the better since its not like it used to be. The community connections are gone, and its alot more dangerous (or feels like it) now days.
Pitty... never will be forgotten though.
As an Oregonian, this is pretty much a staple of my childhood.
I went to school in Seaside and spent a lot of time in Cannon Beach and Astoria. I always get a bit home sick when watching this. As well as Short Circuit, Kindergarten Cop, and Ninja Turtles 3. My Aunt's horses are in the latter two.
I lived in Portland for a time. This movie is "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" of Oregon...Insofar as it's shown every year and it was a tough ticket to get....
Hello from a fellow Oregonian 🌊🌲
Born and raised in Oregon proud to say this film is in my blood.
I always figured the guy wearing the Newport hat would have seen this Astoria classic. I tried to visit the house once but they do NOT welcome visitors - there's even a "Yes, this is the Goonies House, now please go away" sign at the bottom of the driveway. Hilarious.
Right?!
Friends and I tried visiting it a few years ago and that’s as close as we got. Astoria is a pretty cool town as well.
I wouldn’t appreciate a bunch of dummies invading my property and privacy.
That must have changed then. When I visited years ago the sign read "Goonies on foot welcomed. No car please"
In the last year, they’ve warmed up to visitors again!
Kindergarten Cop anyone?
Hearing somebody say that they've never seen The Goonies is like hearing somebody say they've never seen water.
What's water? 🤣
This is the film being referenced when Deadpool tells Cable "Lets dance, One-Eyed Willie."

That.... or he was just calling Cable a dick. Knowing Deadpool.... which is the more likely? Hard to say... lol
@@Linerunner99 suckus fartus out of yer arsus

I’ve always knows Sean Astin and Josh Brolin from this movie it’s crazy that a lot of people don’t 😂 Corey Feldman(mouth) was so huge in the 80s, he was in this and the lost boys, gremlins, stand by me and many more
Favourite childhood film of all time!
This movie has one of the greatest theme songs of all time.

Love. This. Movie!
The Disney remake pales in comparison to it. I love the fact the 1987 movie has the grandson of Addams Family's Fester in it. Awesome movie.
This movie always gave me this gut feeling of adventure and wonder when I was very little. Good times.
"Hey you guys!" actually comes from the old TV show "The Electric Company". Sloth knows it because TV is his only window to the outside world.
A lot of Hollywood royalty offspring in the film:
Sean Astin is the son of actors Patty Duke and John Astin
Josh Brolin the son of actor James Brolin
Martha Plimpton (who played Stef) is the daughter of Actor Keith Carradine
Sean Astin is the son of Patty Duke but not of John Astin. Macenzee Astin is John Astins son wit Patty Duke
@@bryangold3017 okay Michael Tell is his biological father, John Astin his adoptive father.
Another great movie with a cast of young actors is "Stand By Me." The kid who plays Mouth here is in that one too, and it's from a screenplay based on a novella by Stephen King, so it has that "Shawshank Redemption"/"Green Mile" vibe.
there was a deleted scene where the kids actually run into a giant octopus in the water, but since it was cut, data mentioning the octopus sort of turns it into him playing up the situation lol
As a kid in the 80's from England i can tell you that the moment we heard the words " One-eyed Willy " we were in fits of giggles and struggled to get through movie without laughing... even today that phrase brings out the immature kid in me.
Very few modern reactors seem to catch the euphemism of his name. I always thought it was one of the cleverest winks to kid-culture of the 80s.
@@barefootanimist I can forgive americans for not knowing what it meant as they also had a movie entitled Free Willy !!
@@tinkabeast3491 As a Canadian, we've had to forgive a lot of the Americans' slip-ups: geography, spelling, and more... (chuckle)
This was a big hit in latinamerica in the 80s, some channels even bought the movie and used to play it non stop during the early 90s. Really influenced me and peers growing up. Great reaction!
Mouth is played by Corey Feldman. He was very popular in the 80s and you need to watch his essential movies as well like The Lost Boys and Stand By Me.
This one takes me back. This movie blew my mind as a kid. Totally awe inspiring.
Sparked the spirit of adventure in a whole generation.
Keep it up my dude! My favorite channel on UA-cam.
No way. Brandon, I love you bro, love every show and reaction because it's you and your so chill and insightful but I cannot comprehend you havent seen this one. You're the gift that keeps on giving my guy!!
You need to watch ‘Rudy’. Another standout performance from Sean Astin when he was in his early 20s.
Doesn't beat Encino Man! XD
The big brother became the purple mad titan of the MCU. Let that sink in.
And the really pissed off guy with the winter soldier arm.
and the little brother helped Frodo take the ring to Mt. Doom. They really did grow up to be Goonies.
He started working out early, yeah.
This, the Explorers and monster squad are films that i watched many times in my childhood.
Exploreres is one of my favorite movien but it is such an underrated movie that bearly anyone has seen or knows about.
I mean the Aliens brother and sister skit is just fucking hilarious, even 30 years later i still cry to tears laughing my arse off at these...
And even the whole premise of the movie is good.
@@Mugthraka Also Ethan Hawke, River Phoenix, very early in their careers. 80's movies had some awesome child stars.
Young Ethan Hawke and River Phoenix were both fantastic in the 80s!
this one is SUCH A CLASSIC. a lot of it was filmed in the actual town of astoria, oregon, which is a super cute little place that has a bunch of goonies stuff around town. the jail from the opening scene has been turned into a little museum, with goonies props inside and a replica of the ORV with bullet holes parked out front, and there's faded old wanted posters for the fratellis in store windows. also, the people who currently own the house used for mikey and bran's family are really adamant about tourists NOT COMING UP THE DRIVEWAY. there's a big sign out on the street that basically says if we don't know you and you try to approach our house then you'll be arrested in 10 seconds flat.
63 here. still love this film after watching it countless times with my children when they were young, and even now. thank you for the enjoyment once again!
The fact that there is a generation of adults that doesn’t know Sean Astin from goonies and only knows him from lord of the rings is so incredibly sad to me. You should’ve seen this by the time you were 5
I know him from Rudy. Where does that fit in lol? I _should_ have known him from the Goonies, but I didn't really pay much attention to actor names as a kid.
@@rafetizer Rudy’s a good movie. But he’s still best known for goonies.
Lol, most kids today only know him from Stranger Things!

Without doubt the best film to watch hungover on a Sunday afternoon.
Also, next to E.T, some of my favourite child actors.

This, Labyrinth, and Big Trouble In Little China were the absolute cornerstones of my childhood movie watching.
Such a classic.
They call themselves “goonies" because they live near the “goon docks," where fishing ships and cargo ships come in to port.
I hope you’ll watch Stand By Me, The Lost Boys, and The ‘Burbs at some point! 3 more great movies with Corey Feldman!
Stand by me!!
Hell yeah, The Burbs is so fun! And of course, Stand by Me is a classic with heart, and The Lost Boys is a fun time as well.
I love how Brandon has the greatest like to dislike ratio compared to other UA-camrs
I give all his vids a thumbs up
"A Goodwin tv" has an insane ratio as well. Some videos have like 0 dislikes and hundreads of likes.
George Poulos
I think he is just so likable that people just can't find something to dislike
I have a feeling that each dislike would hurt Brandon’s feelings. He seems so kind. Maybe even the trolls sense it.

I recommend the Monster Squad, another good movie from the 80's
The ‘kids on adventures’ genre was big in the 80’s. Some really fun movies came out of it: The Rescue, DARYL, Cloak and Dagger, Space Camp, Monster Squad..so many
I watched Space Camp so many times yet had completely forgotten about it.

Damn you really gonna take my childhood and react to it outta nowhere like that, huh. Much love brother!
Parents took me and my brother to see this in theatres in '85. I was 10. When it was released to movie rental stores not too long after, it's all I would ask to rent. Like, every 2 weeks, I would get the Goonies over and over until I was able to record it off of the TV with our VCR.
Time for the 80's Corey trilogy. Lost boys, Goonies and Stand by me.
Being a 80's kid (i was 10 in 1985) it amazes me that people have not seen The Goonies.

Jeff Cohen (Chunk) ran for class president at UC Berkeley under the slogan, "Chunk for President." He's an entertainment lawyer now.
The 2001 DVD release also features a cast reunion commentary, which is a fun watch.
Two best off-the-topic confession scenes in film are Tyrion's trial at the Vale in season 1 of GoT, and Chunk's ramblings about everything bad he's ever done in this movie.
you need to do "Big Trouble in little China" or "Willow" another two classics from the same era
Too few of these young reactors ever tackle "Willow," and it's such a classic!

"White Water Summer" stars Sean Astin and Kevin Bacon and was released a couple years after "the Goonies". Another great performance by Sean when he was still a kid.
I have vivid memories of seeing this in the theater with my family when I was 9. I have loved it ever since.
Oh man... I was in the middle of watching another video when I saw this on my feed on the left, clicked right into it in the middle of the other one. This is one of those awesome movies you always remember, and no matter how many times you watch it during the years, it never gets old. Kind of like "The Witches" and "Hocus Pocus"
One of my favorite movies!
This, Back to the Future, Willow, and Adventures in Babysitting are my favorite 80s movies!
I love the time capsule feeling that comes with movies like this. Maybe it's just because I was a kid in the 80's and it's the closest thing to being there again.
Classic film! Always loved watching this during the summer as a kid. Just good feels...Nice breeze, windows open and some good ole Goonies!
As someone who grew up in the 80s this to me is the ultimate 80s film. Loved it then, love it now, awesome film.
I remember my sister taking me to see this movie when it came out in the theaters. I was ten years old, and this movie blew my mind. It's still one of my favorites to this day. This was fun watching Brandon reacting to it.
One of my favourite childhood movies! My wife when we first started dating had never watched this before as well! I put it on one night because I couldn’t believe she had never watched it before, and literally was so excited to see her reactions . That’s the exact same feeling I got watching you react to this film ! I love seeing people watch something that they have never seen before that is awesome. Great review Brandon , keep exploring these classics 🤗
This is one of thee alltime classic movies. After watching this movie you now Finally have some street cred.
Seen this so many times. Multiple teachers showed it in class on movie days during my elementary school years. And it used to always be on cable tv. I do a great "hey you guys" impression.
6:53 This song was written and performed by Cyndi Lauper for the movie. "Goonies R Good Enough". The music video is really fun and includes some movie characters.
I got to see this in Theatres last summer. It was like my 100th veiwing, but seeing it on the big screen was amazing!
If you loved this movie you should check an under-rated gem in the same kinda theme.
The Explorers with young( 14yro) Ethan Hawk.

Ethan Hawke and River Phoenix in the 80s? Definitely...
Since you're on a roll w/ these treasure hunting adventures, I recommend watching Romancing the Stone (1984) by Robert Zemeckis. And if you didn't recognize the Asian kid then you need to watch the 2nd Indiana Jones movie.

Cool
This film shaped me as a person so amazing along with the breakfast club
Please react to another 80's classic "License to Drive." This movie stars Corey Feldman who played mouth in this movie and his best friend Corey Haim. They starred together in a lot of movies together and had the nickname "The two Corey's."
Heather Graham is in that also.
Dream a little dream was another good one with them both in too.
Corey H was supposed to be the lead in that but he broke his leg for real which is why he was the sidekick with a broken leg 🙂
Such a fun film, this is my childhood right here, hope you enjoyed the film
Dave Grusin's score is an all-timer, so key to the beats of the story. It really doesn't get the love it deserves. Also... living in Astoria, but hanging out near Cannon Beach... that's a long bike ride.
The Goonies and Willow defined my childhood, the nostalgia is real 🥰
"Sloth love chunk"...Still gets me right in feels
"Wait, Sean Astin is in this?" OMG I love Brandon haha. This is definitely one of my top 5 all time favorite movies.
I was 10 when this came out one of my favorite childhood movies of all time.
This movie also had a two part Cyndi Lauper video released on MTV featuring the title song and cameos from famous wrestlers of the time (Cyndi was a huge wrestling fan), which was a huge hit.
Goonies/dark crystal/flash gordon/creepshow/neverending story/ nightmare on elm street/game of death are some of my favorite childhood movies

Glad you liked it, this is my favorite movie of all time, so I enjoyed your reaction to it, I literally love everything about this film
I was 8 when I saw this at the cinema and it changed my childhood. Absolutely amazing experience. I think every birthday party I went to for the next year had a goonies theme and we were renting this movie a LOT.
Glad you enjoyed it.
YES!! So happy you're watching this classic!
I saw this in the theater and even now, it's still just as good. Just as 80s. Fun movie. All my friends and I took our bikes out and roamed around. We found adventures in woods. Barns. A hidden plum tree along a line of ditches in the middle of nowhere. So many treasured, precious memories. Good days. Good times.
This was filmed on the Oregon coast. I just visited the Heceta lighthouse beach last weekend with my son. That's where the rocks were that fit into the doubloon. Another great coming of age movie from Oregon is Stand By Me, directed by Rob Reiner (Spinal Tap, Princess Bride, etc.), based on a Stephen King novel, with a young Wil Wheaton, River Phoenix, Corey Feldman and an evil Keifer Sutherland (like in The Lost Boys).
The guy in the Oregon Coast hat finally watches the classic Oregon Coast film!
Josh Gad did a 'Reunited Apart' last summer with the cast of The Goonies that is worth a watch, they had a great some great stories from producing the film. Richard Donner and Steven Spielberg and others were there too, it was fun to watch.
Sloth was played NFL pro John Matuszak. He also played basketball at a rival high school against my dad.
According to the old man, they beat his team in a nail biter right before xmas. As the teams were walking out of the gym towards the locker room after the game, my dad mouths off a "Merry Christmas!" to him. John responded by taking a swing at him.
The cast commentary for this movie is so great!
This DVD has one of the best special features I’ve seen on hundreds of DVDs. There is a full commentary from Richard Donner with all of the “child actors” (by then grown). But the terrific thing is the movie shrinks down periodically into the corner and you get to see them. It’s a video commentary. They have such a good time together reminiscing. It’s almost as good as the movie itself.
"Hey you guys!" is actually a reference to Rita Moreno's character from Electric Company back in the 70s. Sloth learned it from his solitary confinement watching old TV shows.
Man, this film takes me back. Sill love this film.
A true classic! It’s such a fun, nostalgic movie for me
Grew up in the 80s watching this movie with a group of friends that lived on the same cul-de-sac. We loved going on adventures on our bikes, and we lived just an hour from where this was filmed so it felt like we were watching US! Chunk’s “confession” scene is my absolute favorite 😂
wow... wow... this came out of nowhere but holy shit! amazing choice
Note the line,"Hey you guys!" Was Rita Moreno's catch phrase from the kids TV show, The Electric Company, in the 1970s. It became part of the pop culture of the day, do when it gets said in this movie everyone got the reference.
Welcome to childhood in the 80s, pure innocent fun. Love your videos buddy, 100% genuine every time
So much nostalgia with the Goonies. I never owned it but saw it so many times in elementary school. That's definitely the best time to see it really, when you're around the same age as the main characters. Really makes you want to grab your bikes and go on an adventure with your friends
This just gives me nostalgia as a kid. I had this on VHS , I watched it so much I broke the tape by tracking. Lmao.
