Fun fact! Pirates that worn eye patches didn’t actually wear them due to a missing or damaged eye. They did it because when you go from topside to below deck your eyes take too long to adjust to the darkness. SOOOOOO, they’d wear it on one eye in the light of day in deck, and switched to the patch to the other eye. Because the covered eye was already used to the darkness, it quickly adjusted to the near darkness below deck on a pirate ship. Arrrg, drink hearty me maties.
Also, eye gouging was a thing back then. Men would let grow one of their thumb nails and then sharpen it to a point so that in a fight or if they're attacked they could gouge out a mans' eye with their thumb nail if they could get the upper hand and get on top of them. Men who were prone to getting into drunken fights were often missing an eye.

After The Goonies, Data made minor appearances and ultimately semi-retired from Hollywood until Everything Everywhere All At Once. He returned as Waymond Wang and killed everyone with kindness.

That baseball card that he found would have saved their homes. When I first saw this in theaters (I was nine years old), every guy was going "Keep the card!" Richard Donner -- the director of this movie -- directed Superman, and since both movies were done by Warner Bros, there was no legal issue when it came to the music in that one scene. In the director's cut, just before the kids get to the ship, they encounter an octopus, and Data kills it off with one of his gadgets. But this is not in the theatrical release, so the line about the octopus threw us off.
The cool part of production was the pirate ship. When the kids landed in the pool, after the slide, that was the first time they saw the ship. They wanted a genuine reaction to them seeing it.
shorts over the sweats was our style in the 80s. Especially in PE class. Our standard uniform for PE class for both boys and girls was Tshirt plus really short shorts. Looked great on the girls but not so much on us guys.
That's Because back then Unless you were already super jacked you looked like a fool. If you were super jacked it looked pretty good on you. This is why me and everyone else who was not. Switched over to just the long sweat shorts that reached to our knees.

One of the funniest adventure comedy films ever made. RIP, Richard Donner, for making this movie happen. From Executive Producer Steven Spielberg, The Goonies. Also I highly recommend the Predator Prequel PREY, taking place in the 1700's, where a young warrior must fight off the extraterrestrial hunter in the Comanche Nation. Now available on Hulu.
"How does he know a drug dealer's fashion?" Maybe from watching "Miami Vice," which made them all look stylish and cool. The only time I wore shorts over sweatpants was when it was required to wear the P.E. uniform of shorts and a t-shirt. This was when shorts were really "short." If it was cool enough we would wear pants but the whole uniform was still required.
I think you guys might of missed this since you didn't mention it before I "cut out" early on this video(sorry, lol). But Josh Brolin(No Country for Old Men) plays the older brother in this film.

That baseball card that he found would have saved their homes. When I first saw this in theaters (I was nine years old), every guy was going "Keep the card!"
Richard Donner -- the director of this movie -- directed Superman, and since both movies were done by Warner Bros, there was no legal issue when it came to the music in that one scene.
In the director's cut, just before the kids get to the ship, they encounter an octopus, and Data kills it off with one of his gadgets. But this is not in the theatrical release, so the line about the octopus threw us off.
The only reason Mouth learned Spanish is because he ran out of things to say in English and he loves to hear himself talk.
One third of the holy trinity of 80’s kids movies. Goonies, Gremlins and ET.
Gremlins and The Goonies were both written by Chris Columbus!
I recommend watching Lupin III: The Castle of Cagliostro. It's a perfect way to get into Lupin III.
would love to see someone react to cagliostro, it's probably the only miyazaki movie that wouldn't get a copyright strike.
I have loved this movie since I was a kid.
Did you watch the end? Geeze! The set was real! What a fun movie of its time. We love it!
The beginning of the movie when the chase is going through all of the main characters lives is really cool. I laugh my ass off everytime I see Chunk crush his smoothie and his piece of pizza 😂🤣🤣
Yes, it was a great way to introduce them and get the vibe from all of them, of course Chunk is the only one that actually acknowledges the chase.
The kid with the inventions the actors name Ke Huy Quan AKA Short Round from the second movie from the movie franchise called Raiders Of the Lost Ark called Indiana Jones And The Temple Of Doom
When Samwise Gamgee & Thanos are in the film, you know you're onto a winner! Goonies, Labyrinth & Willow were my favorite films as a kid
My sons watched these movies over and over growing up.
don't forget Ralph Cifaretto from The Sopranos
Director, Richard Donner made a cameo as one of the two cops on the quadbikes on the beach at the end of the film.
Sloth, football player in real life John Matsuzaka. 6'8 300lb guy.
How you guys always bring the energy astounds me. It’s always a riot bros. ✌️
This film is the gift that keeps on giving
Was one of my favorite film as a kid on the 80s then my brother in the 90s then his son in the 2000s
"The majority was practical"... uh, guys.. this is 1985... it was ALL practical 🤣
I don't know if you guys have watched it yet, and if you have I've missed it, but a good movie to watch in the same vein as this is "The Lost Boys" (1987) directed by Joel Schumacher.
The Dynamite triggers a further cave in that re-open the original cove the ship was trapped into 300 or so years ago by the armada
Probably the best kid movie ever!
it's kinda weird for me to think of Josh Brolin being as old as he is.... I still picture him like this!
The Goonies is like the little brother to The Breakfast Club. They just go together
No! Breakfast was written by John Hughes, Goonies was written by Chris Columbus, go watch home alone if you love them so much!
@@GaryTongue-zn5di Are you ok? blink once for no and twice for hell naw.
I was always curious what a couple modern day 12-year-olds would make of seeing the Goonies for the first time today. I think you two nailed it. 🤣
Visiting the Oregon coast gives an extra kick to this film. I recommend both highly.
@@AsylumSaint No. Lol!!
*prey was fun, better than expected*
The first time The Goonies see the ship is the first time the actors have see the it, Steven Spielberg wanted to catch a real reaction on screen
One of my favorite movies as a kid.
Yes!
”The Lost Boys” and ”Toy Soldiers” next, please 😃
"How does he know a drug dealer's fashion?"
Maybe from watching "Miami Vice," which made them all look stylish and cool.
The only time I wore shorts over sweatpants was when it was required to wear the P.E. uniform of shorts and a t-shirt. This was when shorts were really "short." If it was cool enough we would wear pants but the whole uniform was still required.
HEY YOU GUYS!!!. One of my childhood favorites.
"Look! There in the back!"
"It's a gorilla!"
"It's a bear!"
"No, it's Supersloth!"
This movie is my childhood. I even have a Goonies tshirt with the One-Eyed Willy skull on it.
Fun fact, the reaction from the kids are real as it was the first time they saw the ship!
This movie is big-time nostalgia for me. Love it so much
Fun fact: They did just recently find the real ship and all its treasures about 3 weeks ago.
I think you guys might of missed this since you didn't mention it before I "cut out" early on this video(sorry, lol). But Josh Brolin(No Country for Old Men) plays the older brother in this film.
He also played cable in deadpool 2
Now I'm wearing my Goonies t-shirt today.
That's what I like to hear
26:18 Josh Brolin's character shouted "Geronimo!" LMAO XD
Goonies was directed by Richard Donner, not Speilberg. Donner directed other classics such as Superman, the Lethal Weapon films, Scrooged, The Omen, Maverick. he died last year aged 91.
The DVD commentary for the anniversary edition is so much fun. They all come back to watch the movie again and they’re doing it altogether in the same room.
Goodies is such a huge part of my childhood! I wanted to be a Goonie so bad lol! Classic movie ❤️
The commentary with the cast when they're older is really awesome
reaction hasnt even started and still crack me up, you guys are fucking awesome
Fun fact about this movie the ship that was used at the end they was giving it away to anyone that wanted it the only thing is you will have to have it towed away
