I am an absolute Wings fan too! Please, make the video about Listen To What The Man Said, it would be amazing to see 😁 My ranking would be 8. Wild Life (although I love the raw sound of this album, and almost all the tracks, the material that came later was indeed solider) 7. London Town 6. Red Rose Speedway 5. Wings Over America 4. Back To The Egg 3. Band On The Run 2. Wings At The Speed Of Sound 1. Venus And Mars (In my opinion, the best Wings album, and definitely my favourite)
I sometimes feel Back to the Egg gets a raw deal. It was the first Wings album I heard and I still love it. I think Spin It On is Paul's best rock out since Helter Skelter. Winter Rose is gorgeous. Again and Again and Again, Arrow Through Me, So Glad to See You Here are all strong songs. I'm not sure why this is so often seen as the runt in the Wings litter. Just discovered your videos. Really enjoying them. Please keep putting them out there.
Agree with pretty much everything you said - I think London Town is a severely underrated album and Call Me Back Again from Venus and Mars is one of the best Wings songs!
Nice ranking and video! Also Nineteen Hundred and Eighty Five is one of my favorite Wings songs! I’d rank the albums, but I’ve only listened to the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th albums so far...I gotta try Wings Over America
Band On The Run, is my favorite too, best track on there which I believe is only on botr The Archive Collection and thats country dreamer 'amazing song" and bluebird simply wow
Nice list. You have some great insights and opinions. I agree that Listen To What The Man Said is one of McCartney’s best ever! Also With A Little Luck and Goodnight Tonight.
Great video! My own list would probably be something like this (although beyond the top 2 I could swamp some of the, and do) 1: Band on The Run (also probably my favorite McCartney album period) 2: Venus and Mars (great followup) 3: Back the Egg (I've always found this underrated, my fave is Old Siam Sir) 4: London Town 5:Wings at the peed of Sound 6: Red Rose Speedway 7: Wild Life I didn't rank Wings Over America, but it's fantastic, would be near the top if I did. Also as you mentioned the solo album Ram is one of his best albums as well!
You've got a good list. I have a few differences, who doesn't, but generally agree 1 Band on the Run 2 Venus and Mars 3 Speed of Sound 4 Red Rose Speedway 5 Wildlife 6 Back to the Egg 7 London Town
1. Venus & Mars (10/10) 2. Back to the Egg (9/10) 3. Band on the Run (9/10) 4. Wild Life (8/10) 5. London Town (7.5/10) 6. Red Rose Speedway (7/10) 7. Speed of Sound (7/10)
My list: 1. Wings Over America 2. Band On The Run 3. Venus And Mars 4. London Town 5. Back To The Egg 6. Wings At The Speed Of Sound 7. Wild Life 8. Red Rose Speedway
1. Band On The Run 2. London Town 3. Wings Over America 4. Venus And Mars 5. Back To The Egg 6. Red Rose Speedway 7. Wings At The Speed Of Sound 8. Wings Greatest 9. Wild Life
Sadly I haven't gotten into London Town or Back To The Egg yet but I have every other Wings album on vinyl. My ranking would be: 5. Speed Of Sound 4. Red Rose Speedway 3. Wild Life 2. Venus And Mars 1. Band On The Run Obviously they're all great and if I counted Wings Over America i would say that it would be number 1
THE BEATLES. My Favorite Band . Actually all four produced some great music . Wings through the different Lineups Had some great moments. Denny Laine was a Wise Choice by Paul. The 76 Lineup were the most popular. WINGS OVER AMERICA 🇺🇸 Is Paul's best LIVE RECORD. I remember as a kid. THE TV Special. James Paul McCartney. I loved it. Well I can talk for hours about All 4 of THE BEATLES. I LOVE the early Solo and WINGS period . I agree. RAM is my Favorite. Here's my List. Alittle different but that's OK. 1. BAND ON THE RUN. PAUL'S BEST. 2. VENUS AND MARS . Real strong record . Love the New Orleans feel to the record. Meaning Listen to What the Man Said. Released in Summer. My Beach song. Catchy. 3. LONDON TOWN. Should have included Girls School / Mull of Kintre. GS Rocked. 4. WILD LIFE . That song TOMORROW. Great song. DEAR FRIEND to JOHN . Some people Never Know. Mumbo link. Wildlife cool song. WILD LIFE is RAW and Loose. 5.RED ROSE SPEEDWAY 🌹 Should have included LIVE AND LET DIE. THE MESS. LITTLE LAMP is PAUL at his best. Big Barn BED is cool. My Love is sappy but so What. It's great single. 6. WINGS BACK TO THE 🥚 EGG Has a Edge to it. Some good Songs. OLD SAM SIR. LOVE AWAKE AFTER THE BALL. ROCKESTRA ARROW THROUGH ME AND GETTING CLOSER . 7. WINGS AT THE SPEED OF SOUND. Good Album. BEWARE MY LOVE. LET EM IN. ALL OF WINGS ALBUMS. There's some hidden Gems. WINGS OVER AMERICA. PAUL AT HIS PEAK. SO that would be 2B. I was so HAPPY to see Denny Laine on TUG OF WAR. Henry McCollch and Jimmy McCollch. Both Brillant Guitarist. Henry played with JOE COCKER. His Album MAD DOGS AND ENGLISHMAN. WINGS were a great period For Sir PAUL.
I've always said Paul needed John as well as John needed Paul John knows how to express himself lyrically and Paul knows how to make catchy songs. That being said I never delved into this catalog before, any suggestions to start with?
Thank you for watching! I would start with Venus and Mars, it’s a really easy listen and has loads of different styles - Wings Over America is also a great option because it’s basically a greatest hits album 😍 enjoy!!
@@marysmusictaste after a listen I do like venus and mars, it was a great listen very fun record even the slower songs didn't feel too depressing or sad rather allowed me to vibe with the band more. That being said, I don't think it's an album I can go back to very often, it made me want to listen to help and Abbey road. I put myself in 1975 when it was released and think if I lived then and loved the beatles and mccartney then this would've been a refreshing take on the sound the beatles already captured and it would've been on regular spins. Biggest fault in my eyes with the album however would have to be it's not catchy like I expect from Paul, not as much repetitive songs maybe he was trying something new, but I didn't want to sing along like Paul usually makes me want to. 3.5/5 it would change to a 4 if I find myself searching to listen again but it was a very good suggestion to start from if you're a beatles fan first, thank you Mary for the suggestion.
@@marysmusictaste please review spanish love songs-brave faces everyone... It's my favorite album this year and I would love more people to shed some more light on this album
I like your ranking. I agree that ‘Listen to what the man said’ is a great song! The song is musically generous and infectious! My least favorite Wings LP is Wildlife.
Yes you are right but for me it is it's best album lots off gems on there ! I like the way you do you're comment you are short and direct to the point and don't try to play genius like some others !
I feel like Wild Life endures a ton of hate, which is mostly baseless. Songs like I Am Your Singer and Tomorrow are quintessential Paul, and the latter especially draws a lot of Kinks influence which I love (particularly from their Village Green/Arthur period). Dear Friend is an underrated gem. It really sounds like Paul is trying to end the feud with John. It's a shame he didn't hear How Do You Sleep before he recorded it.
Lol Cook of the House gets slaughtered... I personally don't think it's that bad. I'm relatively new to Wings after collecting all the Wings albums after getting all the Beatles albums. So my ranking of Wings will have to come later. I'm also getting Paul, John, George & Ringo's silo albums gradually. Nice list though.
I've always wondered if "The Man" in "Listen to What the Man Said" was Jesus. If any of you Wings fans ever get down, sing along to "Helen Wheels" and you'll feel better.
Keep spreading the love for Wings - top band!
I definitely will!!
